I walked into the cabinet design services section of the Dallas location and Nancy was friendly and eager to listen and help me with my needs. I ended up with the special order Koville cabinets and could not be more satisfied. Not only was she able to beat out all the competition (I got 5 quotes!) on price and quality, everything was taken care of from Initial meetings to delivery. My contractor has been impressed with the quality of the cabinets too. I have nothing but amazing things to say about Nancy! She was very patient while I changed my mind a million times. She called me and walked me through taking the measurements which I needed in detail because I reused my existing counters. It's very evident she is very experienced in her field. Bought an iron door for our home - absolutely beautiful!!! The doors faces west so it gets lots of sunshine/heat in the afternoon here in Texas, but the inside of the door is room temperature. Ordered a full set of cabinets. They sat in storage untouched for over a month because of a construction set back. One was damaged and i contacted the business. I didn't receive a follow up email and i got busy with work and a bit of time went by before i could contact them again. I visited yesterday to look at tile for my bathroom floor. I am sure I looked lost (or maybe overwhelmed by their inventory!) and Mike asked if he could help me ... he listened to what I wanted (textured tile - no other specifics lol) .. which was vague at best and showed me several options including different ways to lay it out, explained which had pattern variations vs consistency, etc. Mike was patient with me even when I took pics and sent them to my boyfriend and another to my contractor for their opinions! In other stores, the person might have left me, but not here! Later, when my contractor unloaded the tile from my truck & I told him what I paid, he was shocked & said he would have paid nearly double at the place he goes! I was lucky that this new Seconds & Surplus opened just a few weeks before I started a bathroom remodel. I saved quite a bit of money on tile and got a much nicer quartz vanity top than what I could find at a regular big box store. It's really helpful having the tile all out on display so you can see what accent tile works well with other tile, etc. However, as great as their products and prices are, there are a lot of "discount" outlets and cheap stuff online, and if you do a lot of research you can do fine - but what sets Seconds & Surplus apart is the customer service. Bethanie helped me on two different visits and I was really amazed at how patient she was, explaining things to me, helping me pick out coordinating tile, etc. On the second visit Mike helped me also, and he was great too. Even the guys who help load stuff into your car are friendly. I accidentally purchased the wrong kind of tile on my first visit, and I also changed my mind about a bathtub type, and when I went to return there was no problem at all and the person who helped me (did not get her name, unfortunately) was helpful, quick, and pleasant. I'm a fan, and will be going back when it's time for new kitchen countertops! read more

Just ordered Custom Cabinets with Jennifer, 2nds & Surplus' cabinet design specialist. This was a Very Positive buying experience! We loved working with Jennifer because she was knowledgeable;helpful in deciding what we really wanted; prompt, and downright Fun to work with. Interior design/decorating should be fun and not all "stressed out," and Jennifer definitely made this a fun, positive process for us. Can't comment on 2nds & Surplus' price, as we didn't comparison shop, but they seem reasonable. We'll see how delivery and installation go, but we're betting Jennifer and 2nds &Surplus come thru!!! Terrible customer service and totally inaccurate delivery estimates. I ordered 7 interior doors on April 4th. The main two reasons why I went with Seconds and Surplus over Lowes or Home Depot are #1 price and #2 because when I placed my online order they indicated that it would only take between 10-14 days to fulfill the order. At that time Lowes and Home Depot had expected delivery TO MY HOUSE by May 4-6th. S&S could not deliver to my house in Austin but for the price and speed of the order, I decided I would drive to Dallas to pick them up. After about 20 days I had not received any communication about my doors. I called and spoke with someone who said they weren't on the last truck and trucks come in every Tuesday, so I waited until the next Tuesday. Still had not received a single communication or apology about my doors being delayed. I called again and they still had not arrived in Dallas. It is now May 4th, basically a month since I placed my order and literally when Home Depot or Lowes was expecting delivery to my house if I had ordered from them, so I called again, still receiving no communication form S&S. Today I was able to find out the expected delivery date is not until Mid June. They quoted me 10-14 days and it's going to end up being 75+ days before I receive my order. Pathetic! read more

I just happened to be in S&S looking at tile and noticed they have a kitchen design department. About a week later I called and spoke with Jennifer about it and decided to go with them. They constantly took items off my list and replaced them with items I did not need. After catching them time and time again, I was refused the sale. Be careful everyone. The design center off 121 and Castle Ridge is very crooked. I have plenty of evidence to prove it as well as a recording of them telling me they were going to MAKE ME buy the extra fluff that I didn't need so she could make her money. Well, I didn't and they refused me a sale of $6,000 after treating me like an animal. In the recording, I never lost my cool and they continuously attacked me. I will be taking this behavior to the media next. How dare anyone treat people the way I was treated and I will make sure the entire country hears this recording as well as see's the 9 different sets of quotes I was given. Some of which show they charges they were using against me were not affiliated with their programs. The design center even apologized in the recording after I caught her taking out the crown molding for my cabinets for the 3rd time so she could stick her "fluff" as she called called it in the list. She claims that's how she makes her money and then also claimed cooperate would fire her if she didn't sell me what she wanted. I have this in recording. DO NOT trust them and if you have been ripped off before then I advise you to report them as well. They practice deceptive trade in broad daylight and it must be stopped!! read more

Ordered cabinets for a kitchen remodel. We took them out of the packaging. Cardboard of the packaging flicked back on the cabinets and broke the kick plate off the cabinet. Paid 4700 for cabinets that break when cardboard flicks it. Ordered "normal"construction. Several cabinets arrived damaged. They offered as a solution that they would "fix" them. You cant repair this particle board junk. There are pits the size of a dime where the screw was installed.They broke wood and all. Cabinets joints are not at 90 degree angles. Because of this, the cabinets wobble. So for 4700 we ended up with a bunch of trash we cannot install that breaks when cardboard flicks it. The unpainted lowest quality pre-made cabinets in Lowes and or Home Depot are higher quality than this junk. Jennifer was not who we dealt with first. We went to the young African American lady. When we came to complete the order and pay only Jennifer was there. She verbally trashed the young lady, her colleague. Based on the things Jennifer said she does not care for African Americans and she is not respectful of her co-workers to be sure. read more

No matter the location, no matter how many times that I walk in." My husband and I first met Jay Howard at the Dallas location. He helped us through the process of finding the best materials for our budget. Immediate needs was our master bathroom remodel. My husband was remodeling himself. Our longer term needs was the rest of the house, French doors to replacing sliding glass door, including new flooring. No more carpet in this house! So, we also purchased 3 pallets of 8 x 36 wood look tiles and at a fraction of the price we were finding elsewhere. They are still in our garage, but will be installed in the next few weeks, since my husband finally finished the bathroom. During our work on the bathroom, we visited your location in Lewisville, where we found Jay Howard again! Once again, he was very helpful with all of our needs. Never pushy. So, once again, we went to the Lewisville location to get serious about our kitchen cabinets. Jay introduced us to Jeffrey Moreno, Interior Designer that was on location there. We sat with him for almost 2 hours designing our kitchen, whereas he later emailed us profession renderings of what our new kitchen would look like. He was very patient with us and listened to what we wanted. I have to be honest, we then looked to compare 'apples vs. apples' for quality and price afterwards. The amount of $ difference was very significant! We will continue to go to our Lewisville location to finish the house with new doors, handles, backsplash materials, etc... My husband and I went here to look at new flooring for our bathrooms. At first the customer service ok. They were not too pushy and showed us around the store a little bit. We ended up finding what we were looking for and pulled our car around back so they could load everything into our SUV. That's where things went down hill. Our loader, Michael was horrible. He had a terrible attitude and tried to load a few boxes of tile that were similar but different than the ones we actually purchased. When he brought that up to him, he was defensive and told us they all matched. Next he spilled an entire bag of sanded grout in the trunk area and actually thought it was funny. We asked to speak with the manager and he told me I would have to wait awhile. I told him that was fine. The manager came over within 2 min and made things right. Although we love our tile (once we got all the correct ones) We probably wont go back. read more
