Inside 2nd East with seating area & Van Salad Bar

Friend told us about this place. We were traveling thru Cedar City and decided to stop in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]First impression on outside of building is just what exactly are the serving here? It's a ground up build for starters. It's a little confusing as there are 2 entrance doors and no signage to enter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] One side is sandwich's and food. The other is I scream and sweet treats. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As we entered we came into an old 60's van that has been made into a salad bar. It looked really good, fresh and well stocked.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I did like the remote self pay right at the bar. You can skip any line if you just wanted a salad. So we got in line for ordering sandwiches & pasta. Interesting idea on sandwiches with options for bread or a scone to make your sandwich. This is like a fast food place in SLC called the Sconecutter. They have lots of gluten free options. I ordered the Pastrami Scone sandwich. It was pretty good. Very fresh and tasty. It didn't have much Pastrami. For the price I would have expected at least double what was on it. I did like it , but at $12 it was over priced. May Wife had the salad bar. She was totally into it and loved the selection. At the price point she paid it was great. We also tried the fresh scooped ice cream. It too was great and priced appropriately. In all we did enjoy eating here. It's definitely at the higher end price point. They do have deals, which if we had seen when ordering would've helped. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My hang up on rating is lack of appropriate signage telling customer what they have and how to even get into the place. On that as you enter the building on the south there is. Big door with signage telling you about what was behind the door, ( Emergency Pump Room) How hard would an "Entrance" sign be?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Would come again now I have seen how it works.

The food was delicious . I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with the chicken and then took a trip to the salad bar! My choices were simple and surprisingly tasty. There were a few items that needed to be filled but the ones I chose were great!!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience was "chill".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The TVs were on golf, football and soccer ....an okay variety.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I couldn't eat all of the food so I did a takeaway. All in all I'd give Second East a solid 8! A few suggestions: check the Salad Bar more often. It would have been nice to have more variety!

I've been here three times now in the last three days, twice today! It really is yummy. I like the breadsticks and the broccoli cheddar soup. My husband had a breakfast sconewich and a BLT sconewich. Normally I'd leave five stars, but the problem was with the refresher drink. This morning we got the refresher and asked for no ice. The lady said, "Oh it doesn't come with ice. We just use frozen strawberries." Sweet! Love that. Got it, and LOVED it! But there were a lot of frozen strawberries, which I happily consumed, but I'd rather have a little more of the drink. So tonight when we went again (because I accidentally drank all the refresher and my husband hardly got any), I ordered a refresher again, this time with light frozen strawberries. When we got it, it tasted like skim coconut milk.... I opened it and saw that there was a slightly white drink with lots of ICE. It seems like it was missing half the ingredients. The first one we had was just delightful. This one is not worth drinking. Like I want to drink it because I got it, but it doesn't taste good. So that's a bummer. I'd suggest making sure you know what you're getting. Naturally I wasn't brave enough to speak up and ask for a replacement, but I do regret that LOL

We have been waiting to try 2nd East. It's been on our radar for weeks. We went in for dinner on a Friday evening. The restaurant was very busy. We each ordered the small salad and then we split the # 5 Our friends who were with us, ordered the small salad and they split the chicken Alfredo. We were very impressed with the variety at the salad bar. Many items to choose from. They had 3 types of salad mixes to choose from. Iceberg, spring mix, and baby spinach. They also had several types of dressings available. Our #5 Amore Mio was so good. The grilled chicken Wes on point with the button mushrooms. The Alfredo sauce was just the right consistency. The highlight of the dish was the sundried tomatoes! What a flavor punch to the dish. It was delicious!! Our friends had the #1 Classic. They enjoyed it also. The Owner came out and thanked us for coming in and brought us some fresh hot bread sticks. They were so good. Portion size was just right for the price. Plenty of parking and plenty of tables to sit at inside. They also do drive through. We highly recommend this new restaurant in Cedar City. Give it a try!

While tonight was just a taste of what Second East has to offer, I look forward to them opening to the public! The owners and staff are very friendly! The food we were able to eat tonight was delicious! I definitely recommend for lunch and dinner!

Came here because we were looking for a French brunch spot, and at first it felt like a great find…read more We were greeted upon arrival, and the menu offered so many options that placing the order took a bit of time (we had five items for two people). While ordering at the counter, I needed to make a quick adjustment after getting confused about one of the items. During that moment, a 'white' gentleman was waiting behind me, and instead of simply acknowledging him with "I'll be with you shortly," the lady staff apologized to him for my delay in ordering (according to her). Shortly after, while I was still in the middle of ordering and asking about tea options, she abruptly moved on to take his order without any explanation or communication. The interaction felt dismissive and uncomfortable as well I felt strong I am treated with racism, especially in the condition when I was pregnant who crave all good food.... As for the food, most of it was enjoyable. The scrambled eggs on the croissant and the pancakes were well done. However, the onion soup was overly salty, likely due to the cheese which was in the soup and also on the bread. Another downside, especially as first-time visitors, was the lack of guidance. We weren't informed that water was self-serve, and only realized it after noticing another guest getting it themselves. Interestingly, when leaving, we saw staff pouring water for newly seated guests, which added to the inconsistency. Overall, the food showed effort from the kitchen, but the service experience was disappointing. The 2-star rating is mainly in appreciation of the quality of the dishes. Cafe is quite small and we felt hot, as there's only a portable AC that couldn't accommodate that size of room. Not recommended place, even this is one of the rarest cafe in town. Rather to spend money to somewhere worthy and respect you as guest, no matter what roots you have.

So go with a date, friend, link, etc.. The service was quick! Got my food quicker than usual and that was pretty impressive! Spicy edamame: It was good, but it was not at all spicy. However, the sauce they used for it? I'd recommend using it on a bed of rice. It alone is the bomb dot com! Imma need that recipe LoL Hot & Sour soup: It was so good. Just the right balance! The serving size is just enough for you to enjoy. But do have this with the meal and take spoonfuls here and there! It can be come overwhelming if you just eat the soup alone Pork in garlic sauce: It honestly wasn't that at all great in my opinion. I expected something more on the saltier side but it was overwhelmingly sweet! So if you're a diabetic STAY AWAY from this. Eel Nigri: Hands down the best! It was tender, flavorful, soft, and decadent Tuna Nigri: I absolutely did not like this. It did not taste fresh....it had a very metallic taste as if it was freezer burnt! So huge no. I am in no business to say what food is fresh and frozen simply because I can't see the import, but it was most definitely not fresh. Overall, the service is impeccable, the staff are always on it and I appreciate the service. I would probably order something else next time. Total came out to $42.64 was it worth it? If they took off the tuna nigiri then yes. But it's aight.

We wanted to be on the window side but all were taken except the bigger tables at the end on each side. There were quite a lot of varieties on the menu. Since we were not too hungry, we decided to skip appetizers and salads or soups. My husband ordered Vongole pasta with white wine sauce and at my husband's prodding, I went for lamb chops as he knows I love it. The lady server brought us some toasted focaccia slices while we waited for our orders to arrive. It did not take long. The pasta was perfectly cooked al dente and the white wine sauce with clams were fresh with added chopped canned clams. Since this is one of our favorite pasta dishes, our standard is quite high. It was missing some flavor and more wine should have been added. As for the lamb chops, I ordered medium but no blood "pink" which was done right. I did not want to say medium rare as there's always a mishap when I do that. Despite of medium rare, the chops were tough and disappointingly bland. Without the brown gravy, it would have been a total tasteless piece of ordinary meat. It came with 4 ribs and sides of mashed potatoes and 2 fat sticks of asparagus. I ordered lava chocolate cake with ice cream on top for dessert and it was gratifying but would have lovelier if the lava was warmer enough. It arrived too quickly so it must be pre-made. Their lamb chops definitely needs some improvements on taste. I did not have the heart to complain and send my chops back to the kitchen. The server was efficient and sweet. I only ate 2 pieces of the chops and left 2 pcs. For foodies, it's not a place that you go back to. My rating would be 5 for the service, 4 for the pasta, 3 for the lamb chops and 4 for dessert. So, 4 stars overall and it is quite generous.
