I took it to Bates technical college where they did a diagnostic where they found the started relay non-functional and the gear that spins the engine was stuck. The instructor explained to me that a reasonable good mechanic should have been able to diagnose problems, relay and gear and made repairs for $1000.

It's very odd for them to treat e-bike riders this way, especially as I assume my son will continue to want to ride even on to his adulthood, which would make him a prime candidate to be their target audience.
