Have been a constant client of Cynthia's for about 3 or 4 years now, and the difference is astonishing. When I started, my legs were stiff as wood. I was in constant pain from severe injury in my youth, and there was absolutely no range of motion in my ankles. It had gotten pretty extreme. Now, after working with her, I have nearly full ROM in both ankles, and a vastly better quality of life. Her talents as a intuitive body worker, and her relationship with the intricacies of anatomy are a perfect combination. She is both relaxing and therapeutic. She is also adaptive, with very strong hands. So if you're a wuss (like I can be), you only need to tell her and she will adjust to give you the best massage for maximum benefit. I feel like ppl who complain about massage are by and large not communicating with their practitioners. They need the feedback. I will say, that I can take much more pressure now that we have made so much progress than I used to, which is also a testament to her rehabilitative gifts. I am interested in a few other practitioners there who perform different types of technique that I think would complement my work with Cynthia, but everytime I come up with extra $$$, I come running back to my usual to continue our progress. I went for one massage here after a car accident, and... jeez. I wish I hadn't. The place I had a referral to from my doctor was in Redmond, and I didn't really want to drive all the way out there every week; another person told me about SABA, so I decided to give it a shot. The massage itself was good; the practitioner I saw was not. She constantly texted me to ask questions after my initial (and final) visit, using text-speak ("u" instead of "you", "c" for "see", etc). I finally had to request that she correspond with me via phone or email after I realized that professionalism was not her forte. She replied that she does not check her email and texting is better for her. She did not seem to understand that texting a patient several times a day is not appropriate or professional conduct. Further, this practitioner hounded me to make more appointments with her. When I told her that my availability was limited to certain times, she told me she did not have appointment times open but insisted that I make more appointments because it was imperative for my healing. I am a nurse (and an adult) and recognize the importance of treatment for my injuries, but felt like I was being talked to like a misbehaving child. She was unable to find a time for me to see her for two weeks, so I decided that dealing with the stress and lack of professionalism was not worth my while. I finally got a referral to another practice, where I am extremely happy. read more

You read their website and try to get an appointment with anyone. I made a horrible mistake with my choice. The dancer masseuse called to affirm an appointment hour which I was grateful to get. Her questions about why I needed the massage eroded into her not understanding what not working can do to one's spirit and how a massage prof. can do good or BAD through their beliefs, projections and words. I am SO glad I didnt have an appointment with her. I wrote the manager with whom I had had a great conversation. She 'addressed" the incident with the masseuse- dancer person. Will I EVER go in there? Not likely. I got a massage elsewhere that day and also referrals. READ carefully the techniques and expertise of those whom you consider. Warning: I am going to get all giddy writing this review. You see, that's what happens when you find a place you REALLY love. You tell your friends. You tell your family. You tell the Yelp nation! Jean Clough is BY FAR the best massage practitioner I have ever let touch this divine body (I kid, I kid). Seriously though, she has the perfect amount of pressure. It doesn't make me cringe every time she pokes at me (which she doesn't; she just gently works out the kinks). I always feel so much better after a visit with her. I am so impressed that I can say "it hurts here" and point and she knows the name of the muscle and the probably cause of the pain. As a five-night-a-week soccer player, I have lots of different pains and she is excellent at not only treating them in crisis, but preventing them beforehand with stretches and core building. The only downside is that because she is the best in world (voted unanimously by me), it can be difficult to get an appointment. And, after this review, you should all call and bump me out even further. EXCELLENT service and Jean is a wonderful person with a friendly, calming, and healing spirit. read more

A while ago, nwsource sent out a coupon for a 75 minute massage for $50. What could be wrong with that? Nothing, as far as I could see. And when I found out that one of the people offering the massages was four blocks from my house, I was downright excited. I scheduled a massage for myself and one for my boyfriend. I will review the masseuse separately, but as for the space? It was small and not particularly relaxing. Not a lot of natural light (and it was sunny out) in the waiting room. The massage room wasn't very relaxing either and it was a bit stuffy. I had a better experience at Massage Envy, which is in the mall for goodness sake. read more

Cynthia Callison has Magic Healing Hands!!!! She is also warm, friendly, personable, and knowledgeable, if she doesn't know a question's answer, she will find it!! I visit her when she is working at Dynamic Chiropractic Clinic downtown with Dr. Carr. Theres nothing like a Massage and then an Adjustment! I have scheduled massages with her when i've had weird muscle spasms i've never had before, also when i have severe neck pain (c6 injury) , and lower back pain (pms). She is wonderful!! Her massage room is very warm, relaxing, comfortable, and she has been able to relieve many aches in less than an hour, but going the full hour is Heaven!!! We didn't take long to realize we have many common friends which makes our visits even more friendly and relaxed. Thanks Cynthia for being so cool, magical, and healing!!!! read more

If you don't want to read the entire gushing review, here's a summary: Christine Kommer is an amazing massage therapist, and I highly recommend her services! After being hit by a car on my motorcycle, I had a lot of soft tissue damage to recover from. I had reduced range of motion, as many of my muscles had clamped down and adhered to areas that had sustained sprains. I was in a fair amount of pain. I tried *three* massage therapists before I finally, and thankfully, found Christine Kommer. Christine's work is effective. She is knowledgeable of muscular anatomy, and has a lot of education and experience with a wide range of techniques. She uses that knowledge and experience along with intuition and LISTENING to her client to determine the best way to go forward with each treatment. Her room is quiet, clean and comfortable. Communication is always open and clear throughout the process. It feels like she is working WITH you, not just ON you. She's also just a cool person to be around and has a way of making you feel perfectly relaxed. Through working with her I started to heal. Pain reduced, range of motion increased. Christine worked well with my attorney and is familiar with PIP procedure, which was such a relief during that stage of things. One less thing to worry about and feel like I had to chase down in the mess that comes with car accident injury recovery. And though she didn't need to be, I felt she was an advocate for my recovery in that part of the process. Christine is reliable. She is organized. She is completely present. She is invested in healing the body that is on her table. So far, I've sent 3 friends and family members her way for massage, and they have all had excellent things to say about her and her work. I have been a patient of several of the practitioners of Seattle Advanced Body Work and Associates over the past ten years. I find the atmosphere warm, relaxing, and very homey. Ted Johnson is great at deep tissue massage. Darryl Martin is wonderful at finding out just where it hurts and then working out the kinks, Nate Starling does great chair massage and Jean Clough has intuitive and magical hands. Jeans room is my personal favorite, with beautiful art on the wall and a lovely stained glass mirror in the window. The clinic has a nice vibe and the practitioners seem to really enjoy working together. I would highly recommend any one of these great practitioners! read more

I highly recommend SABA. I've had an ongoing relationship with Christine Kommer for several years now and have never been happier with a massage therapist. She's not only knowledgeable about massage in general, but she is very intuitive, and she applies her skills with utmost care and consideration. Just when I think to myself, gee, I wish she'd find that knot in my back, her fingers are right there. It's almost telepathic. She locates areas that need attention even before I can tell her where they are. She traces soreness back to the source, which is often not obvious to me. Christine takes excellent notes, asks questions, and remembers my issues from one session to the next. I've had specific issues that she's helped me to manage, and other issues that she has helped me overcome. All in all, I can't imagine going to another therapist. Make an appointment with Christine. Cynthia Callison has singlehandedly improved my life in many ways. I saw her for two full years, almost weekly, after a pretty serious car accident. I had muscular and joint problems in my back which created pain throughout it and other parts of my body. From the very first session, Cynthia's vast knowledge of the body and how it works and is all connected, was demonstrated through varying techniques and approaches that made me feel amazing at the end of the session. Not only were the areas of pain completely relieved, but every single part of my body felt relaxed, stretched, renewed, and realigned. With every session, I felt major improvements and was thoroughly satisfied. I didn't realize just how exceptional Cynthia was until I saw another massage therapist once, and felt totally dissatisfied, and as though they had just touched the surface (pun intended). It's as if Cynthia intuitively knows exactly what pressure is perfect for deep relaxation and rejuvenation of the muscles, and exactly where to apply it. She even added elements of physical therapy, helping me stretch areas that directly affected my areas of pain. Every session, she also gave me extensive advice on home treatments I could do-exercises, exercise tools, positions, therapeutic activities, etc. She also recommended the best chiropractor in Seattle, wonderful exercise class instructors, and more. She and who she associates with are TOP QUALITY. She is also a very personable, compassionate young woman, who makes you comfortable, serene, and happy to be there-sessions were the highlight of my week. I sustained an injury a couple of years ago and was referred by my doctor for massage therapy as part of my recovery process. Jean Clough, one of the practitioners at Seattle Advanced Bodyworks, was one of the 8 different Seattle-area massage therapists I talked with on the phone in advance of deciding who to start seeing. She was warm and informative and seemed completely open to all the questions I had for her. The space itself is not the most updated, or the fanciest I've ever been to for bodywork. I honestly have to say that I am not bothered by that. I'd much rather have a great massage at a reasonable price with someone I like and trust to help me than a massage at a fancy spa where I may be paying purely for a certain type of ambiance and not for skill and actual care. The space works, the products used are good, and all the people I've interacted with have been quite nice. I am so glad I chose Jean Clough to help in my healing process. She's been a great massage therapist for me. In addition to being good at what she does, she's also been nothing but wonderful, patient, and helpful. And in addition to all that, she's quick to laugh and easy to talk to.
