Love coming here to enjoy the beach. I order a bunch of food from here and sit and swim at the beach. However this past visit was NOT up to par. $18 for a horrible grilled cheese sandwich that was 1 mm thick. What a total scam! I know that prices are higher being on the beach/hotel but this was unacceptable. I did enjoy my club sandwich. Won't be ordering grilled cheese again. Won't be going her for a while. read more

I love the Kahala resort!! I walked in went towards the back to the restaurant and stopped to watch the dolphins. It did take a moment to be seated, but understanding due to there being one person working the floor. As a host and waiter, he did amazing! They're located past the pool! It is beachside! Such a beautiful view! You can walk the beach right after! The food was good. I got the seaside club sandwich 7/10, could have used more mayo, but I didn't say anything so that's on me. I had the kahala ice cream dandy for desert, 10/10. The cookie was delicious and the macadamia nuts put this sandwich together!! The water tasted a little off. Maybe they used tap water, but it tastes like the grill to me. I would come again and try something different. read more

The food was a bit pricey (tho to be expected at a fancy hotel pool!) but bearable considering you could eat on the empty beach and not have to worry about preparing food for the day. My daughter and I shared (ok she's 5 so I basically ate 1.75 meals myself!) (1) the $12 keiki burger ($2 extra for cheese) with lettuce, tomato, and a large serving of fries, and (2) $17 kalua pig quesadillas with fresh salsa, guacamole, greens, and dotted with sour cream and cojita cheese. Both items were delicious, and very filling. The server offered me ice cold water and updated me that the parking validation is provided with a $50 purchase since 2023. The entrees were ready in about 15 minutes and were delicious to eat on the beach while the kids took a quick break from building sandcastles. We ordered the summer roll a salad with no blue cheese and my husband ordered a chicken sandwich. The summer roll was really good but it was just one for $16, and it was not large. After we ate the appetizer, another table of four came in next to us. They were seated, ordered, got their meal, paid and left ALL BEFORE WE RECEIVED OUR MEAL.. our UNDERCOOKED meal. During that time we were never once attended too. My salad had blue cheese on it so I couldn't eat half of it. The chicken salad was half uncooked and also couldn't be eaten. 6-11-21 our orders of club sandwich, fish tacos and chicken sandwich disappeared in a flash. The chicken sandwich included veggies and a spicy sauce. The fries were excellent. The club sandwich looked really good cut into triangles and came with chips. The fish tacos were good as Little Sweetie's mom offered her a taste. Everything was good quality and perfectly prepared. Hubby, daughter and myself came here for an early dinner. We also needed to validate our parking. I guess if you spend over $25 at a restaurant, you can get your parking ticket validated. I think you get 4 hours free. Anyway, we were served waters. They have alcoholic drinks and nonalcoholic drinks. The menu was pretty limited but I decided to get the Seaside club sandwich that came with kettle chips even though it said Maui. It didn't have any flavor but they used plain kettle chips instead. My sandwich was actually pretty good because it was filled with turkey, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado and mayonnaise. So creamy and good. There was also bacon in my sandwich. Service was good. They guy kept refilling our waters. A major plus but I noticed the water tasted like tap water which I dislike but I drank it anyway. Hubby and daughter had the burger. The kalua pork nachos were the best thing we had, they give tons of toppings and the meat had good flavor. The fish tacos were huge! Although I thought was a bit too big, and it didn't have much flavor - I wish they gave more cabbage and toppings to help out the big piece of fish. We also tried the quesadilla which for some reason the bottoms of the tortilla was watery/wet? Even though we asked for the tomatoes on the side. My family and I did a staycation at the Kahala Resort for the first time a few weeks back to celebrate my mom's birthday. This is the poolside restaurant that serves drinks and food. We came here about 2 times during our stay. The first time we just got drinks. My sister ordered the pineapple vanilla mojito which was a whopping $19 in a fairly small plastic cup. This drink was such a letdown. It pretty much tasted like coconut water with a hint of pineapple. Definitely not worth the price. I would recommend their smoothies. I really liked their strawberry smoothie as it was creamy, refreshing, and $10 cheaper. The second time we came here was for lunch. My mom got the acai bowl which was served in a pineapple. The acai bowl was good; the base was a perfect consistency and the fruits were fresh and delicious. I love the aesthetics of the pineapple bowl. I got the kid's hotdog which was surprisingly a good portion and it came with fries. I would recommend ordering from the kid's menu if you want decent food and a decent price. My sister and dad shared the Kahala burger, which was very sad. The bottom bun was soggy and the burger itself was lackluster. The portion was quite small as well and definitely not worth the $22 price. I've had better burgers at so many other places. We didn't expect much of this place as it is just a poolside restaurant, but the quality of some of the menu items is very disappointing considering that this is considered a 5-star hotel. Over looking the ocean on a plastic cup of drink is simply strange. The most raved item on the menu is beef hotdog, we were tempted but too full to try. The cocktail price looked outrageous in plastic cup, but a rather fair draft beer price. Ordered a cup of cappuccino, it literally taste of capsule machine for $6. Located right on the beach, this little restaurant has a great menu for snacks, lunch and drinks on the beach! Post holidays I decided I needed a daycation and booked a day at the Kahala Resort. The Seaside Grill is pretty much the only option for food and beverages on the beach and at the pool. Service was great - terrific bartenders and restaurant staff. Prices for drinks are typical hotel, with good choices for simple blended smoothies, local beers on tap, and mixed drinks that pushed into the "you're on vacation" price range. The wow for me was lunch - grilled local fish burger (mahi in this case). The mahi was a nice cut, very fresh tasting, moist and perfectly cooked. The sauce on the sandwich was killer, bread fresh and soft, and crunchy fries. I've gotten so used to getting just okay fish burgers and was mentally ready to be disappointed - instead, pleasantly delighted. Price also wasn't crazy over the top, even though at a resort hotel. Overall, made for a nice day playing tourist before heading back to my side of the island. read more

I frequent this cute poolside/beachfront bar and grill often with my friends and family. Beautiful property, wheelchair access, very friendly/professional staff, stiff Mai Tai's and a simpler menu than the other restaurants on site. Perfect for a casual meal, Signature ice cream chocolate chip cookie sandwiches, or a drink! They have a kids menu as well! Even if you are not staying the night at The Kahala Resort, you are so very welcomed and treated with Aloha when dining here! It's a perfect place to recommend friends to come as well as stay! I recommend the Kahala Resort over any accommodations in the busy Waikiki. I love the poolside service as well as the beachfront cabanas and beachfront room service. They supply a call button for easy service if you have one of these dining options. The pool is heated and everything is manicured to perfection. Big Shoutout to the pool manager Brian for everything he does! He's always well presented, all smiles and carries a warm demeanor. Today was an off day for me, juggling sandy, wet kids and trying to get home in order to get my partner to a concert he was performing. I was ALL done with the beach. He immediately saw me and shined his happiness in a not so over bearing way. I usually love to talk and catch up with him, but I was rather short due to being tired. No review or picture of the "Braddah Daves" Taro Burger so I feel the need to write a review. Definitely can taste the taro but not the grilled portobello mushroom. Perhaps the sauce overpowered the taste of the portobello mushroom, personally, I would have preferred the burger without sauce so I can enjoyed the "superfood" ingredients. My hubby had the Kailua nachos, pineapple smoothie, and I had the kids chicken fingers and fries. I wasn't that hungry. I ordered a drink that our server recommended. It was delicious! I can't recall the name but it had tequila in it. They don't skimp on the alcohol. My hubby loved his nachos, it was a good portion size and very flavorful. I tried a nacho chip and it was topped with an amazing tasty cheese and fresh salsa, so ono. I also tried his pineapple smoothie it tasted so fresh and was blended to perfection. It tasted like a light milkshake to me. It was one of the best smoothies I've had. For my chicken fingers and fries. It is a kids menu item but the server let me order it. They serve it with bbq sauce which is ok. I prefer honey mustard. Our server went to find me some from their other restaurant Plumeria, but no luck so they made me some! Now that's customer service! It tasted great, the fries were well seasoned, and the chicken fingers were tasty. Our 2nd time ordering we ordered from our room. They deliver to your room with an $8 charge. It's worth it for the convenience. I ordered the club sandwich and my hubby ordered the Kahala burger. He loved it. He said it was nice and juicy, it had 2 patties, Kahala house sauce, white melted cheddar cheese, and was topped with fresh tomatoes, and lettuce on a toasted brioche bun. My club sandwich was delicious as well. Turkey, avocado, lettuce, Mayo on a toasted multigrain sliced bread. I did without the tomato and bacon. It was healthy, and filling. Comes with Maui chips. Wonderful service right on the beach at the Kahala Beach Resort. Good beer selection with a nice variety of local brews too. I opted for the club sandwich and fries. It included avocado slices along with the usual suspects: turkey, bacon, smoked cheese, tomato etc. on toasted bread. It was very fresh and very filling. This place has lost its way. What used to be a good poolside offering is now mediocre at best, overpriced with food that just doesn't make sense. The Kahala Hotel and Resort's Seaside Grill offers an extensive drink menu. Whether you're looking for a non-alcoholic drink, specialty cocktail, low calorie drink, or beer, they have several options to please every palate. It would be better if it didn't close at 5:30, but we did manage to go once during our family's trip to Hawaii and catch the sunset after table service ended. The essential thing is that you can have a relaxing drink in your swimsuit. We sat down before closing and ordered some beers and snacks. Service was solid, and we were able to sit at the table after we closed out. We read and enjoyed the sunset. The beers were refreshing, just right for the beach. I had the rotating draft, the Beer Lab 9 Pieces of 8 pale ale, and my husband had the Big Swell IPA. Food wasn't anything special, but it wasn't bad, either. We ordered fries and tortilla chips with guacamole and salsa for the table, and everything got eaten. The only reason you'd come to the Seaside Grill is that you're already at The Kahala, staying at the hotel or taking advantage of the beach. Located by the pool of the nice Kahala hotel resort. The nice hotel also have outside pools for several large, beautiful dolphins and turtles. The hotel beach is small, exclusive, nice and the water is calm. The fish of the day taco was quite good, although some pieces were over cooked. The accompanying sauce was excellent and unique. Nice condiments to make 2 tacos. The seared ahi salad was ok, I have had better quality ahi. There was only 1 food server for all the tables this Saturday afternoon. Nevertheless she was superb, always smiling and helpful. She was the highlight of our late lunch today. 5 stars for her service! read more

Waiter never came to offer refills, and I had to go to the bar to ask for drink refills. Waiter brought keiki, drink last, and food order was not correct. The 4 stars is mainly for the beautiful view (steps from the beach!) and the ahi poke that I'd been craving for since we landed in Hawaii. My husband and I had lunch here twice since we were staying at the resort. The first time, we ordered the mango madness smoothie (mango, pineapple Wedge, passion fruit juice, pineapple juice, coconut), which was incredibly refreshing and delicious during a hot day. The ahi poke was extremely satisfying. I've had better, but this was pretty up there. My husband actually tried it for the first time and he said it was ok, but that mainly comes from not liking anything raw or jelly-like in texture. There was a bit too much soy sauce, so I was chugging my water more than usual. I had the grilled fresh island catch sandwich, which was a marlin. Never had it before and probably would never recognize it in the future, but it was good. Not too fishy in my opinion. The asian remoulade it came with was a good complement to the sandwich. My husband had the original seaside burger. He said it was okay--he requested it to be medium but they gave it to us well-done. We were too hungry to send it back. Keep in mind, the food took way too long to come to our table. But the fries. Oh geez, the fries. They made up for the mediocre meals we had. It was big, crispy, and seasoned perfectly. Too bad it wasn't the same the second time around. It was more soggy, which was disappointing since we chose it as our last meal on the island before our flight left. Blah. He ordered the same burger and I requested it to be medium (again) and told the server that last time it was well done, so please make sure it's medium. Thirty minutes later (not exaggerating), it came back well done. Too hungry and trying to leave for our flight, we sucked it up. The meat was just too dry. Again, really disappointing. I had the chicken sandwich the second time around and it was surprisingly good, but stuffed with lots of balsamic vinaigrette. I had to take some of it off because it was too much. Loved the food and the waiter was amazing. After spending almost $1000 at this hotel and restaurant today they asked us to leave the pool as we were not guests sleeping in the Hotel. The poolside attendant and the manager inside the hotel both affirmed its hotel policy not to allow anyone that is not a guest sleeping there to use the pool. They will however allow you to spend your money here and sit next to the pool and watch everyone else enjoy the faciIt's a shame they have this policy. It seems it would be a better policy to allow guests who are dining and spending money at the hotel and restaurant to have access to the facilities. Thank you for the reply Michael. You stated that hotel guest have priority. However this was not the case. Priority means they get access first. This policy I can completely agree with. But asking me to leave when the pool was nearly empty was an unintelligent move considering the fact that I spent a rather large sum of money that day at your facilities.
