Staff were not wearing masks when I entered the store. I waited in the doorway while the manager covered his face. I had a specific refrigerator ready to purchase from the website. There was no floor model to see. I was offered a discount to sign up for a Sears credit card. After providing information, I realized that the store was charging an additional $55 in fees. When I asked about the fees, I was told that I could cancel the application and order myself online. He assured me the application was canceled, and said "you can deal with Costco delivery." After delivery, I received a message that my credit card was on the way. After two customer service calls, the card was canceled. I try to support local businesses, but this is the third strike on customer service under current ownership. Sears homestores offered no matching or coordination with website purchasing. They bait-and-switch to get credit card applications. I have been treaty rudely more than once there. I will not be back. read more

Terrible customer service! We ordered a refrigerator online. We didn't even know Sears was still in business but their site came up on a search with a Kenmore fridge that we really liked and the price was good so we went ahead and ordered it. We have had Kenmore appliances before and trust them. One of the difficult things about buying an appliance during the pandemic is that every thing is back ordered. Everyone is home more, using their appliances more, hence the need for new ones. So when they told us the fridge could be delivered in three days we were thrilled. But when the delivery date came, no fidge. I called and they said there was an unexpected manufacturing delay. We were given another delivery date. This time, one day before delivery, we actually got a confirmation call giving us a two hour window for the next day. So we cleared out our old fridge putting the food in ice chests to wait for the new one to be installed. The next day, you guessed it, no fridge. We were irate! Why were we given a confirmation and still it does not come? My wife and I both called and were given two different stories. My wife was told that it was still coming that day. The person I talked to said that it had not come from the factory yet and could not give me a new delivery date. I was fed up! The next day I called to cancel the order and get my money back. The rep literally pleaded with me to give them one more chance to make this right. He said he was very sorry for what had happened and assured me that we would get it the next day and offered me a $200 credit upon delivery. I knew it would take 7 to 10 days to get my money back so I decided to give them that chance. Like the last time, I received a call notifying us of the two hour window for delivery. This time we decided to wait to see if they show up to take food out of the old fridge. Well on delivery day we got a call from the delivery driver telling us we would be number 8 on the delivery schedule. So we felt confident it was actually coming this time! Then later we got another call from him but due to bad reception couldn't make out what he was saying. We took it to mean that he is close and would be there soon. So we take all the food out of the fridge (again) and set it out on the counter and the table to prepare. But I was still concerned that I could not understand what he had said in his last call. I called and left a message for him to call again. He called back shortly and left me a voice mail. When listening to his message I could not believe what I was hearing, he said he had called me prematurely earlier and did not actually have anything for us on the truck!!! Are you KIDDING me??!! I feel like I was lied to by customer service telling me me they could deliver it next day when they actually don't even have it yet from the manufacturer. They don't make it easy to cancel your order either. You cannot do it online. You have to call. The first time I called the rep was literally talking to me from a farm. I could hear roosters that were louder than her voice! I hung up and called back to get a different person and finally started the refund process. At this point I am not confident that this transaction will go through. Later that day we went to Standard TV and Appliance and ordered a very similar one and got it the next day! We paid a little more but it was worth it just to get our fridge so soon. Do NOT order from Sears! read more

I was in need of a lawnmower and went to the McMinnville Sears. They talked me into whynotleaseit and I went home happy. This was last season. Lawn mower was working great until a few days ago and now will not start. Called them and they were hostile and asked me if I had my receipt, stupid me could not find it but I figured since they were the only ones that sold this model I would be in their computer. NOPE! Pretty much said there was nothing they would do. I have been in customer service in retail and construction management for 25+ years and rarely have I run into this poor type of customer service. I intend to spread the word in Yamhill County Oregon to shop there is possibly throwing your money down the drain if you run into difficulties. We don't need this kind of poor customer service in our area. read more

Store wouldn't accept the fridge I picked up there because it was 30 days past pickup. Actually called on the day 30 but they said if I didn't get it to the store by closing of that day that they wouldn't return it. I even had repairs done and had to wait for parts in that 30 days but they didn't care. Sears is no longer a good company. They need to just officially go out of business rather than be a horrible company. Won't ever buy from Sears again. RIP Sears. read more

This store was actually ok. However, after waiting 2 weeks they delivered a new refrigerator that didn't work at all. We've called the store & the various help lines & received no answer. We have no refrigerator at all. They've said the earliest we can get help is January 16. We've paid for delivery & take away . We need something sooner than 3 weeks. read more

We recently purchase a kenmore freezer from the store in McMinnville Oregon. It was just delivered with big dents on the side. When we went back to the store to ask for some sort of compensation they seemed to think it was a joke and said " freezers are made like this and it's normal for them to be dented because they are not good quality". When we told them we have been customers for many years but this has definitely made us not want to continue giving our business to sears they chuckled and said "we have been in business for many years and will be for many more, if you Change your mind we will be here". They were very rude to us and couldn't seem to care less that we have been loyal customers for many years. We have bought Many appliances from sears over the last decade but will not be going back. We even sent an email to corporate and they never responded. read more

Very poor service. We walked in and there were no other customers in the store. At least two employees were visible, but one of them was chasing around a toddler who apparently comes to work with her. We identified an item we wanted to purchase, but decided to shop around before making our purchase. It was not until we were 10ft from the exit that an employee made a weak attempt to ask if we needed anything. I said we were still shopping around and left. I called later that day to find out about delivery. I was informed that their sole delivery driver was booked up for the week, and the following week he was going hunting and taking the week off work. They have no one to replace him during this time. He's also booked the following week he returns, making it over 2 weeks until we could get the item delivered! This is poor customer service. read more

Shady Business Practices - I have been in the McMinnville community for over 30 years, have helped run many family owned businesses, and now help the success of over 250 businesses in Yamhill County. My family and our business has always been well known and respected for the love and care we give back to the community, including holding several roles through the Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Association boards. I am a recent grad, and voted "most enthusiastic" through the Chamber of Commerce "Leadership Mac", and am heavily involved with Friday Greeters, and volunteer for the past 3 years with Church on the Hill, as well as leading and ministering to over 85 junior high youth. I am honest, and love our community here. With that said.... I rented a 26 ft. Uhaul for in town (1 day) use this weekend to move into my new home in Dayton. I was quoted $39.95 for a 1-day use plus $1.50/mile. The gal who set up my rental and gave me the keys did not get up from the desk to perform a visual walk around, as I've always experienced with Uhaul - rather she sent me a link that would show photos of all previous damages with "x" marks. I found this strange and thought it left room for much liability, but was reassured that this was their new procedure. I agreed, signed, and left with the keys. When I got to my old house to start loading, I opened the back of the Uhaul to find a hand truck and package of moving blankets - of which I did NOT ask for or pay for. I moved the hand truck out of the way from the entrance of the truck and proceeded to load. All else went well with the move, and I returned the Uhaul to Sears the next morning 2 hours prior to my due time (before Sears was open) and dropped my keys in the drop box. 3 hours later I received a final invoice in my email - $120.78!!! On top of the base rate of the truck and miles driven, they charged me $31.50 for fuel and $7 for the hand truck. Here's the issue; I did not use the hand truck because I had 8 people helping me move, and did not have to move anything heavier than a couch, but they said since I moved it, due to it impeding my way, I was charged. They also argued that I did not return the Uhaul with the necessary fuel amount. I, and another well respected business person who helped me move, verified we returned the truck EXACTLY where we had rented it. Sears argued with me, insisting I was wrong, and there was nothing they could do at this point, but to call customer service. I spent the next 45 minutes on a 3 way call with Sears and Uhaul customer service. Sears was condescending and would not budge on the fact that I was wrong. I explained my status of being known and a heavily involved community member and my honest nature, as well as the level of character of the other business person helping me move, and Sears' response was, "I don't care who you are or who you know!". WOW. Coming from a business that thrives on customer feedback and reviews, apparently Sears is not dependent on customer satisfaction, and would rather price gouge, sneak in added costs, and argue to no end that the paying customer is wrong. Once Uhaul released Sears from the 3 way call, I finished my conversation with the representative, who listened to my case. I did a simple calculation of the price per gallon they tacked on ($4.50/gal), multiplied by 8 MPG (the estimated fuel economy of the truck), and the miles driven (37), and through simple logic, we discovered I was severely overcharged on that basis alone. Uhaul ended up reimbursing me the amount of fuel in total - the right thing to do. My main issue has to do with business practices, customer care and the way my concern was handled. I intend to make sure no one in my community of business, family or friends do business with Sears. I care too much for them to be mistreated and overcharged. Sears should reevaluate their approach in ethics and customer service. This coming from a member of a family that gives and participates heavily in Yamhill County and the community of McMinnville for over 30 years. read more

My experience with the McMinnville Sears store has been FAR less than stellar! on 04/13/2014 I purchased a Craftsman String Trimmer Mower ($384.00). I used this item two times and it failed to start. I returned the item to the local store and spoke with the store owner. He informed me that the item was past the return date( by 8 days, if you counted business days it would be less). He stated it must be sent out for repairs. I asked him how long that would take and he stated that it may take " two weeks, three weeks or maybe longer". I told him that was unacceptable and that perhaps he could exchange or refund my purchase. He became very rude and stated that there would be no refund or exchange and I'll just have to wait until it's done. I told him that I really needed the machine and I couldn't wait that long. I just wanted to end the transaction. He then stated, " you obviously didn't hear me, I told you there was no refunds! if I refunded everyone with a bad piece of equipment that came in here I'd be out of business". I told him that he must be kidding and asked him if he really wanted to alienate customers with this rude attitude. He then stated that he was "done" and "that's the end of it". I was livid. I left the store and all the paperwork and called Sears Corporate in Chicago. They called him and he again refused any compromise and solution other that me waiting for this unspecified repair period. Sears Corporate, after trying to reason with him, called me and informed me that since he was a "Franchise Owner" there was nothing they could do for me. I went into the store two weeks later to check progress as I had heard nothing since leaving it there on 05/21/2014. The owner informed me that he hadn't heard anything yet. He didn't even offer to call and check. By now I was really angry.. I asked him to reconsider and just put and end to our transaction and interaction. He stated that he didn't have to do anything and that everything he was willing to do is being done. As of this writing (06/16/2014) I went back to the store today. I asked him if the mower was done. I went in the back and brought it out. I asked him how long it had been there. He shrugged and stated that it was "probably Tuesday or Wednesday of last week, maybe Thursday". I resisted the temptation at that point to ask him why he hadn't notified me. I asked if it ran ok now. He stated "who knows". I said to him "don't you think it would be a good idea to find out?" He pushed it outside and pulled on the cord at least 8-10 times. I told him it didn't appear to be fixed. He stated, "it's probably out of gas". I said, so now what?". He stated, its been fixed there's nothing else he's willing to do. I asked him if he even knew the meaning of good customer service. At that point he began to raise his voice and tell be to get out of his store and never come back. "Take your damn trimmer, sign the papers and get out"! I told him to keep it and that I'd just deal with him in court. He stated that "I have lot's more lawyers that you do and Sears backs me". Then stated that, It won't cost me anything...anyway Sears pays all my legal expenses". I was so angry and upset I just left. Sears Corporate tells me that the company policy states 30 day returns on mowers. They just don't understand why he's being so rude and uncooperative. Long story short folks.... I pity you if you buy anything in this store and it breaks down! This owner should not be in a customer service based business. I have owned my own business for over thirty two years and if I treated my customers this way I wouldn't have a business very long. Save yourself some time, anguish and money and take your business to someone who appreciates their customers! I will NEVER shop Sears again! - A former loyal Sears shopper, but no longer. read more

I would give this store 0 stars if possible. My tenant returned an online purchase (a/c unit) to this store with the online receipt. The store accepted the unit. Two days later I get a phone call from Sears saying they don't accept online returns. When I asked why they accepted the a/c unit in the first place, a manager was put on the phone. He reiterated that this Sears is a franchise and not part of the Sears network. Also, the unit was listed as missing. [I have checked my account and this order is labeled "fulfilled."] When I again asked why they accepted the unit in the first place, he called me rude. When I asked why they wouldn't send it to a Sears store who could process the return, he said "I don't want to pay for it." Frankly, my tenant was in error to go to this store. But the store has a responsibility, too, because they accepted the unit. I am angry at the manager's rudeness to me and the hassle this is causing. Very, very, very poor customer service. My experience has be horrible. Before I moved here to be with my husband for a new job he went there to buy a washer and dryer. I wasn't there for about a month so there wasn't much laundry done. I moved there and from the start the dryer start button was very touchy. Gave it a chance and it just got worse and worse. When we called them about it they pretty much said to bad and there was nothing they could do. As of today the dryer won't start and it is only two months old. Would never buy from them again and I wouldn't be surprised if they knew it was faulty. Now I have a $600.00 dryer that is 2 months old and doesn't work. Actually had fun appliance shopping! Great feel as soon as we walked in. Family run business was welcoming and focused on us the whole time. They stayed 45 mins after closing to help us with no feeling of pushing us out the door. Play area kept my young kids preoccupied while I was looking around. Our realtor recommended this store to us and we will be back for any appliance needs. Owner Floyd personally took us around the store and sat down to look online for comparable prices for us. I know I got the best deal possible on our freezer and induction cooktop. Floyd's knowledge was amazing - he could tell from our description the exact measurements of our fridge at home lol! read more

if this review were based on the in store purchase experience, I would give it 4 stars. If it were based on the delivery of our range and refrigerator, I would give it 5 stars. However, it is based on the negative experience of scheduling the delivery. We were told when we made the purchase that our appliances would be delivered on December 18th. On December 18th, Caitlin (Sp?) called and said there was a delay so they would be delivered on the afternoon of December 19th instead. On the afternoon of December 19th, Caitlin called and said there was another delay (oh come on!) and they would be delivered on the following Wednesday (December 23rd). On December 23rd we waited until mid-morning and did not hear from Sears, so I called to find out what time they would deliver the appliances. Allison answered the phone and told me they do not make deliveries on Wednesday. She put me on hold apparently to double check with Caitlin. She then told me that I was told it would be delivered to the store on the 24th and delivered on the 26th. I said No, No, No, I was told it was Wednesday, that I was not given a date. She apparently decided I was yelling at her rather than disagreeing with what I was told, and hung up on me. So much for the customer being right, and for quality customer service. Based on this treatment, and not on the purchasing or delivery experiences, I would NEVER purchase from this Sears franchise again. It might be a good idea for this company to put their son, who delivered the appliances in charge of customer service. Might have a chance of getting return customers that way. read more

There is a new owner at this Sears Hometown store since the last review and we have had excellent service from them. It is run by a wonderful family, all 5 children and the parents work there at some point during the week. We went in to look at appliances recently for our new home. Not only did the owner and his son listen to what we wanted in appliances and showed us the best options for the price we wanted to pay, they also went online to assure we getting the best price and price matched each item, lowering their price to match the best deal out there. We normally don't buy large ticket items the first time we go into the store, but their service was so outstanding, there was no reason not to! They held the items in store for us until we were ready to accept delivery and two of the sons delivered promptly and efficiently on schedule. They installed the items correctly and there was no damage to any items or to the house! We are very pleased with each item we purchased and have been back to purchase other small items from them and they have been just as helpful each time. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this store!! read more
