On April 12, 2024 I took my Subaru to Ken's Northwest Automotive. It was due for a regular…read moreservicing, and they had previously recommended replacing the front brake pads. Also, the alternator light had come on. They changed oil and topped off the fluids ($71.95). They tightened the fan belt to prevent the alternator light from coming on (87.50), and installed new front brake pads ($269.00). They also resurfaced the front rotors ($60.00 and installed new windshield wiper blades at ($49.90). I picked up the car just before their shop closed, stopped for groceries, and drove home. The generator light came on AND STAYED ON. There are several traffic lights on the 17 mile drive home, and each time I slowed to observe the red lights, the front BRAKES VIBRATED to the point that the steering wheel shook. And no, that wasn't a malfunction in the ABS. I would have been ok with wiper REFILLS, but they installed large Rain-x WIPER BLADES, which would look fine on a GMC 4X4, but not on a small Subaru. I had not requested wiper replacement, and they never called to ok the charge. The following morning, the car wouldn't start. I ordered a new alternator from NAPA, it was delivered in about three days, and I installed it myself. No more alternator light. The car is driveable, but health issues prevented me from addressing the brakes until now. Thankfully, I have an old clunker that I could use. I have an appointment with the Subaru Dealership (34 miles) next week. I figure the Dealership is more inclined to be accountable for their work. They may be able to order OE wiper blades. The total bill on this visit was over $600.00. The only part of this repair visit that didn't BACKFIRE was the oil change. Pretty high price for just an oil change. Tightening the fan belt accomplished NOTHING. And I don't believe they resurfaced the rotors. I'll never return to Ken's Northwest Automotive. This was the WORST experience I've ever had at any repair facility in my life. Apparently the technician didn't THINK to test the alternator. And the brakes? What if someone leaves Ken's shop to pick up their kids at school, and drive through a school zone?? With defective brakes? Admittedly, that's an extreme example, but -- WHAT IF? This repair shop has changed in recent years. And not for the better. There's nothing worth recommending about Ken's Northwest Automotive. This was a bad, bad experience.

The process was fine, CJ was our salesman and he was easy to deal with. We paid cash so didn't have any experience with the financing department. A week later the AC quit working, and the check engine light came on. It was running rough and jerking. We took it to our mechanic who said the code indicated a misfiring ignition coil. We were really frustrated and reached out to them. Yes, we knew we had bought a used vehicle and yes we declined the extended warranty. But to have this happen in one week didn't seem right. Jarret from their service department replied and asked us to bring it in. We did, they recharged the AC system and replaced the ignition coil at no charge. So far so good, the AC is working and the truck is running smoothly with no warning lights even after pulling a travel trailer to Ocean Shores and back. So I can recommend this dealer, they stood behind what they sold.

The property is huge, spacious, well designed, filled with a terrific variety of lightly used vehicles (all the way from gas to hybrid to electric), and pricing is highly competitive (I was researching a hybrid Audi with low miles, way below current market). Second-honest repairs. Andrew, who runs the service department, has automotive experience that goes back decades, domestic and foreign, and the repair staff are really thorough in their approach. My used Jaguar was fixed in one day, with a minimum of fuss, and $1800 cheaper than a local car shop had bid-free loaner car, friendly, and honest. What's not to love?

1st time we took our car there was because we have been taking our car to Hiros (the same location)…read moresince Hiro opened.... then when we got our oil changed, we heard one of our car had funny noise, my husband opened the hood and found a red rag hanging in the engine. Some time later one of our car passed 90,000 mile service, and they quoted us some repair for around$5,700.... I told the guy I have never heard of a Toyota with only 90,000 miles needs that much of repair on engine. We decided to call someone for 2nd opinion, and there were things that were necessary.... and the 2nd person says the repair should only cost $600. Don't think we will go back again. Do miss Hiro's honesty very much.

By Tuesday 445p hadn't heard so I called back, voicemail said they were open until 530 so I left a message, did not hear back. Called Wed at 345p, original guy answered, apologized for not getting back to me, said he would by the end of the day, or Thurs morning at the latest. By Friday, I still hadn't heard back. Trying to find a competitor to Liberty Bay, but guess these guys are too busy. Other reviews suggest they do good work, but no way for me to know. Off to Liberty...

We absolutely love Kitsap Tire! We have been going there for several years for oil changes, car…read morerepairs and tires. They are always super busy but still find time to get us in quickly and provide excellent service without attempting to overcharge or add on additional costs. Recently, I got a flat tire over on Bainbridge but live in Kingston. I happened to be in a dead zone on Bainbridge so I couldn't get cell service. It was pouring down rain. I was able to get a tow truck after walking several blocks to get signal. It took the tow truck a while to get to me and my tire was shot. I was soaked and tired and the tow guy got my spare on and told me to go directly to get a new tire. I drove straight to Kitsap Tire at 430pm. (They close at 5 pm). They checked my tire, it wasn't repairable but instead of making me come back and order a new tire. They had a used tire and put it on right away and I was out the door in 15 minutes for only $50.00! I can't recommend Kitsap Tire enough!

I feel like they are fairly priced and I never feel like they are making recommendations for things that aren't actually needed. As a cisgender female, I feel like that isn't the case 95% of the time in automotive spaces. My normal experience is getting the strong upsell or total bs, hoping you don't know the difference. I appreciate their honesty here!
