I hired Melissa owner of Seamstress Shine to make a window valence on 11/3/17. She told me that she was backed up with work and that it would be at least 3 weeks for completion. She charged me $120 for the job and told me that she needed 50% up front to start. She swiped my card and text me the receipt. When I got home I saw that she had charged my credit card the full $120.00. I told her about it and she stated that she misunderstood and thought I said for her to charge the full amount and asked me if I wanted her to put it back. I told her no because I didn't want to track another transaction on my credit card. Based on the phone and text log I have kept, I have 12 documented attempts to contact Melissa and get my drapes. I physically drove to a place in Columbia MD where we were supposed to meet so that I could pick up my drapes and she called me and told me that she had a fitting she was doing and an appointment after that. I told her that I would be happy to drive to her house to pick them up and she told me no that she would meet me no later than 8:45 pm. I waited in a cold parking lot for her to show up and she called me and told me that her assistant came by to pick up the drapes to put the Velcro on and that her assistant was rushed to the hospital and she had no way of getting the drapes. So I drove an hour back home with no drapes and yet another excuse. Melissa was supposed to come last Saturday 12/16 and deliver my drapes after 5pm and she never called or delivered my drapes and valence. I sent her 2 text messages today 12/18 and tried leaving her a voicemail but her mailbox was full and could not leave a message. She is avoiding me and will not return my calls and she refuses to return my personal property. I have never encountered behavior like this in business.
I informed Melissa of my timeline & that I needed the valence and the drapes I bought from JCPenney that I left with her to match up the color of the trim/border. She reassured me every time a meeting or deadline was discussed that she'd deliver and that I would LOVE it, be happy and that it would all work out, all of which was a sugar coated blatant fallacy. Her intentionally misleading & unethical behavior has me out of $120 (cost of service never rendered), $420 (cost of fabric) not to mention, she abused my time and my gas. I feel robbed and disrespected. What saddens me is I am helpless. There's nothing I can do to get her to respond or get my things back. Based on these unethical business practices she should not be allowed to service anyone.
I choose to support a small businesses and in turn, I was robbed of my money and my goods, mislead and ignored. Do not invest your money here. Doing business here is a first class ticket to being given the run around and having nothing to show for it. If I had to choose between patronizing here or voting for Trump. I'd be the first in line to vote for Trump. I am THAT displeased. read more
