their service was typically okay until one day they tried to gaslight me and tell me that I already picked up my pants when I never did. then when I saw it hanging on the back of the rack in their store and told them, they didn't even apologize for their mistake. my brother also gave them a reference pant to tailor another pant to match and they somehow made the pant skinnier than the reference and he couldn't put it on. and they couldn't fix it. if you want something quick cheap but risky, go to them. but if you truly care about your piece or if it is expensive, do NOT go to them. read more

I have been getting my clothes alternated front Nina's for years. I have never had to take anything back for adjustments.

TLDR: There are numerous reasons I've given such a low rating, and why I would not go back. 1. Cost not reflective of quality or customer service (e.g. stitches ripping; dress hem should not have cost that much; dress should have been cleaned at that price point) 2. My needs/ expectations were not met (e.g. the stitches ripped and 1/2 of what I needed was not accomplished) 3. Lack of communication/ transparency (e.g. inability to communicate properly with the client) 4. Unfriendly environment/ hot space Here's the detailed review: I called beforehand to get an idea of what the price would be to alter a dress that needed to be hemmed and taken in slightly at the bust. I couldn't understand them well, as they barely speak English, but they wouldn't give me a price range over the phone. I asked if it would cost more than $50 - I just wanted something to go on. I thought they said it wouldn't go over $50. I get to the place, and it's a small, cramped, very hot space. The current owners (husband and wife) bought the store and kept the previous name, but no one there is the real Nina. In other words, the very old reviews are likely not reflective of the current staff or service. They had me put the dress on. Fortunately I had the foresight to bring the shoes I was going to wear with the dress. The marked the bottom of the dress for the hem. I practically had to force her to take me seriously that I wanted it taken in at the bust. With very little words exchanged (to me anyway - the husband and wife were communicating with each other the whole time, but I couldn't understand them at all, as they were speaking another language), and 0 reassurance that I was getting what I needed from this transaction, she wrote down on a piece of paper what the total cost was and tried to tell me. I misheard and thought she said $9.95. Nope, she said $95. To hem a dress 3" ($45) and take it in slightly at the bust ($35). I guess the rest was either an additional charge she didn't itemize, or something not properly communicated. I was FLOORED. She lowered it to $90 but was incapable of explaining why it was so expensive. She asked by when I needed it; the soonest she could get it to me was 2 weeks later. When I went to pick up the dress, she had me try it on. The dress was not cleaned (I specifically asked if they cleaned it), but hung in plastic that didn't cover the bottom of the dress. She zipped up the dress for me because with the bust alterations I couldn't zip it myself. Immediately the stitches at the bust started ripping and coming undone. She could hear them, but did not repair them. All of the stitches on one side of the bust ripped as I moved around in the store. By the time of the event, I was hiking the dress up every few minutes because it was sliding down - total waste of money! The hem looked fine, and the stitching was decent. Not worth the outrageous price, in my opinion. I paid with cash. I did not see an option to pay with credit card, and they did not vocalize it to me. When I didn't have all of the cash up front when I dropped it off (they wanted me to pay $95 and leave the dress with them!), I said I would bring the other half when I picked it up - during this time I imagine they would've mentioned I could pay with card, but they did not. read more

I went to Nina's last Monday in hopes of getting my dress hemmed and ready for pickup by Friday. I called before I went and the man on the phone said it was possible. I brought the dress, tried it on, and showed Nina where I would like the hem line to end. When I came back on Friday the hem was perfect. Nina's was swift and delivered as promised. The absolute best! I came in on a Wednesday and had to get my skirt taken in for NYE (Saturday). I ordered the skirt in a Large, I wear a small!!!! I took my skirt in that Wednesday, tried it on, and told the woman exactly how I wanted it to fit, she pinned it, I paid, she told me to pick it up Friday before closing time (6pm). I didn't bother to try it on or anything because I was busy. Saturday night, while getting ready, I put the skirt on for the first time, and it fit exactly how I wanted it to! It's a leather skirt with lining in it, I thought it was be at least $60-100 to take in, to my surprise it wasn't. They are amazing! read more

I recently moved to Catonsville and needed to find a tailor to fix a broken hem on a new pair of work pants. I stopped here and dropped my pants off and was surprised when the couple working there told me I could pick them up the next day. My other tailor usually took longer. When I picked the pants up I was also surprised when the total charge was only $3. I should have checked the hem better after I picked them up, because when I got home and put on the pants the thread of the hem was hanging down and the hem was falling out again. I'm really disappointed in this place for wasting my time, and now I have to find another place to take my pants! I would not recommend this place to someone else. read more

They altered a bridesmaid dress for me as a last minute request and it came out great ! A++

I called their shop to get a quote and explained what I needed done. They said it would cost $15 for a skirt to be taken in and they were able to do it if I waited for a bit. I drove 25 minutes to arrive at their shop for the price to be $22, and for them to take more time than expected. I picked up my skirt and it still did not fit how I wanted it. My friend said the ZIPS downtown fit the dress in various places for $15 and said she could come back to make sure everything was fine and if not, redo any corrections. I prefer helping local businesses not chains but next time, I will go to the Zips a mile away.... read more

Very disappointed in this place. I took a brand new dress in that just needed to be taken up a little under the arm. The lady quickly pinned it and said it would be ready the next day. She wanted $18 and she wanted to be paid before doing the work. This was bothersome but I didn't complain. Picked dress up the next day And it looked terrible. It was such a simple alteration I didn't quite now how it could look so bad but it did. I complained . Owner putzed around a little and tried to fix it. She wanted 5 more dollars and a few days to really fix it. She just kept making it worse. The dress is wearable but looks like someone on their first ever sewing job. Bottom line. I had the hem taken up on two pair of pants. I was also surprised that the work would be done in one day at a cost of only $8. I should have checked the hems a bit better before I left as I wore one of these pair of pants only once before the hem pulled out. I tried taking the pants back to have the hem fixed but the woman told me the work couldn't have been done there and pointed to her sewing machine. Perhaps something was being missed in the conversation (I don't speak Mandarin) but it was evident that she was becoming annoyed so I just left. Caveat emptor!! read more
