The service is also excellent - it's clear the staff really cares about the clientele. The atmosphere is also great - casual enough for a simple meal out yet nice enough for a special occasion. Did fail to mention that the prices are also very reasonable? Frankly, I'm surprised that this place isn't consistently packed. It should be. Call it one of Portland's true hidden gems. I can't say enough good things about OK Omens.

We came for happy hour and took advantage of the $1 oysters. Unfortunately, as someone who eats a lot of oysters around Portland, these weren't my favorite. There was quite a bit of shell left in several of them, which made for a less enjoyable experience. We also tried the poke crudo, which was good, but honestly the olives ended up being my favorite thing we ordered. The wine selection seemed to be a big focus here, and if you're a wine person, I can definitely see the appeal. The wine we had was solid. My biggest surprise was the atmosphere. The exterior has so much charm, but the inside felt a little cold and not as welcoming as I expected. Nothing was necessarily wrong, it just didn't have the warmth I was hoping for. I'm glad I finally checked it out, but as someone who is always on the hunt for great oysters, I probably wouldn't make a special trip back.

Another Fabulous Breakfast at The Diner in McMinnville…read moreRating: We had another wonderful breakfast at The Diner in McMinnville. Our party of 4.5 was lucky to snag a spot on a typically busy Saturday morning; we must have hit the "sweet spot" because we arrived just before the line formed. A typical wait is 20-30 minutes for a table on weekends, but the food and service make it well worth it. We were greeted and seated quickly, and I really appreciated being offered a choice of seating. We opted for a booth, which worked perfectly for our little one in a booster seat. What made the visit truly special was the owner playing peek-a-boo with my grandson--such a sweet, personal touch that shows how much they care about their guests! The Diner is well-known for its boozy breakfast options. Our table enjoyed a Bloody Mary, Boozy Mimosas, and a Tequila Sunrise. All the drinks arrived quickly and were enjoyed tremendously. For the main course, we ordered: Breakfast Sandwich: Served on a soft, fluffy muffin with bacon and a perfectly cooked egg. Pork Chili Verde (Special): Served over cheddar grits with fresh salsa, crème fraîche, and crispy tortilla chips. Absolutely INCREDIBLE! Chicken Fried Steak: A family favorite that resulted in a "clean plate" as usual. Crispy Chicken Club Sandwich: Another lovely, solid meal. Another fantastic visit with great food and even better service. We will definitely be back!

Little did I know, this old friend would not reciprocate the love I had. The hubster got home with our loot, we were like two young kids at Christmas. Giddy with anticipation to see what exciting yummies the pasta gods had sent our way. Then we opened the spoils and went silent. What had we done?!? Where had we gone wrong?!? There was barely anything there. I had flashbacks of Christmas morning in who-ville. Even the taste was heartbreaking. Not even a month ago, we ordered the same items and we fought over the last morsel. The radiatore pasta was $17...literally 18 noodles and 1/2 a mushroom. The chicken Alfredo was $24 and check the pics for yourself. The salad was phenomenal and so were the garlic knots I couldn't tell ya about our cookie, they forgot to include it :( I would have probably ranked it one star but I do appreciate the amazing guy that night being so positive and understanding when we called in and the manager calling us back. I'm crossing my fingers this is just a bad phase....like emo in the 90's and they grow out of it before the pasta market swallows them up.

Orders are taken quickly, and food is being served with little wait time. This restaurant is Salem's secret gem. Look at my menu photos. I got the 106 omelet. For those few with a hollow leg, get the 110 with the 6 egg option. The omelet was cooked to perfection. The hash browns were crispy on the outside and the right firmness texture on the inside without being mushy. I always get rye toast, and this met my expectations. The wife got the senior breakfast and chose 3 items. Coffee never got below 1/2 full before our server came back around offering a refill. There are many reasons why this restaurant is so popular, as I have highlighted in our recent experience. Share your experiences.

I got "The Usual Suspect" which is two eggs, bacon or sausage and smashed potato. I got mine with the sausage patty. The patty is very thick, I would say about an inch or so, and whatever the recipe or brand is for that sausage I want it. It was very tasty. Had just the right amount of spices for flavor not overly salty, spicy or sweet. Eggs were cooked to perfection over medium just how I like them. The whites were set, but the yolks were still soft. The mashed potato is just what they say, it is a baked potato that has been placed on its side and smashed onto the grill to get crispy skin on both sides. What a great idea and use of leftover baked potato, I'm gonna have to steal it. The portions were large enough that I ate both of my eggs about a third of the sausage and a couple bites of potato, and the rest came home with me and was enough to add eggs to for two more breakfasts. If you're looking for bread, I believe they said they had biscuits or croissants, but they do not have any bread for toast or English muffins or anything like that.
