Great wine and what an amazing and quiet setup in the shed. Low pressure and just a wonderful break from the noise of a busy life! Thanks to Anthony for the hospitality and delicious food and wine!

We did the 1880 Connection to compare wines from Beaune to Oregon and this was an amazing experience. From the start, when we walked in, we were warmly greeted until the time we left, we had an absolutely extraordinary experience. Our host, Connor, was phenomenal. He was exceptionally well-versed and shared a wealth of knowledge about the wine and the estate. Every single wine we tasted was an unforgettable experience in itself. After our tasting, we walked up to the garden on the hill overlooking the vineyards, and the views were simply breathtaking. It was the perfect finale to a wonderful visit. We cannot recommend this place highly enough and definitely want to go back! Thank you to Connor (also Vincent - helped us with our French) for an amazing and fun time.

There were no tastings available, but given the weather we had just driven through to get there, and bc my friend is a certified somm with the CMS, we decided simply to create our own tasting experience from the single pour options made available. Other reviewers have also mentioned it, but when we sought input from the staff to make our initial wine selections, our experience of service was underwhelming. It was frankly a little disappointing given the status and caliber of the house. Gratefully we met Ben who was solidly helpful; he appreciative of our Quest to create a meaningful tasting experience for ourselves, even if we had not been able to score an appointment with a venue host. He was very knowledgeable and spoke to with us without condescension, intelligently answering our questions about the vineyards, wine making processes, and house history. With his help we also learned about some excellent options for dining in the area. Ben poured our selection of four wines and we chose to take the glasses outside on the patio as the rain had stopped. We helped another couple with photos they were trying to take, and then were able to film a few tasting clips against the picturesque back drop of the vineyards. We ordered a serving of the gougères, which came out warm and were delicious. I picked up a bottle of the Zeraphine Pinot Noir for the friend who had recommended the winery, and Mac picked up three bottles including the estate chardonnay, to return to Canada with. All in all a solid self-guided tasting and learning experience.

We reserved our seating through their Concierge, Kathryn, who was incredibly helpful and welcoming to my family and me. Zach then guided us through the wine list and helped us select some fantastic wines to try. He was courteous, professional, and genuinely seemed to love what he does, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We tasted LaRue's Blanc de Blancs, LaRue's Brut Rosé, Stoller Reserve Chardonnay, and Stoller Reserve Pinot Noir. Every wine was delicious and beautifully vinified to showcase and complement each varietal. I enjoyed the wines so much that I actually signed up for the Legacy Wine Club! Overall, it was a truly memorable experience for my family and me. The combination of beautiful scenery, exceptional wines, and wonderful hospitality made this visit one to remember. Thankfully, we made a Heritage Room reservation and were able to enjoy the outdoors under some umbrella shade. Two of us a wine tasting, 1 grabbed a glass of red, and the other was there for company and some N/A musings. We also had the charcuterie board and cookies, both of which were good overall. I absolutely adore this spot for having N/A options which on this day was an orange creamsicle inspired slush. Service was really accommodating...since I can be quite the slow sipper at times. They definitely did not make us feel rushed. This is such a picturesque spot and I couldn't help but adore the giant tree with the tire swing in the middle. People were absolutely trekking across the lawn to enjoy it. This is a rather family friendly winery and there were tons of families, a bridal shower, and just folks enjoying the day. High high points for an inclusive space. Check it out if you're looking for a cute winery to enjoy!

We had the opportunity to spend time with Page Knudsen Cowles, whose family helped establish Oregon as one of the world's premier wine regions. She shared the history of her family's vineyard, the realities of running a multi generational business, and how they continue to honor her parents' legacy while moving the winery forward. One of my favorite moments was ending our visit with a private lunch in the beautiful cabin her father built for her mother, a place that now welcomes wine club members. Sitting there while hearing their family's story made us feel like we had been invited into something very special. Between the breathtaking vineyard views, wonderful wines, warm hospitality, yoga overlooking the vines, hiking the property, and the incredible personal stories, this was so much more than a winery visit. It was an experience I'll never forget.

The 2022 Backstory was a beautiful and bolder Pinot which I love. It turned out to be my favorite Pinot tasted on our trip. Additionally the host was knowledgeable and willing to answer questions. I like going to wineries where you learn about the wine you are drinking and that was definitely the case here. When I'm back in the area, I will head here first. And we also got the lowdown on the membership!

Seriously - it's hard to justify spending money at other wineries because their wine just falls FLAT. I've been sitting on this review for years now... (my mistake) I guess I just wanted to keep this perfect secret as my own. If you're coming to the willamette valley for GOOD WINE, you need to come here. Also, the staff has been top notch. Michael is our favorite sommelier, Jack is the BEST member relations manager, Ameer is the most entertaining, Shay is the friendliest ever, Dominic and Geovany walk you through the taste palates. I just love this place. The view is breathtaking! Yes, the cost is high end for the area - BUT, if you appreciate a good glass of Pinot noir, this place is your dream. DS puts all other wine to shame.

We also wanted a place that offered tastings of white wines since Pinot is not our favorite. We arrived without a reservation. Mind you, this place is HUGE! There are numerous rooms that were completely empty. The main tasting room had probably 5 tables occupied, so it was not crowded. We didn't make a reservation because we went to another winery first, which was a 90 minute tasting, and then had lunch afterwards. Domaine was our second stop, but we didn't want to guess at a time we'd arrive with our driver. The host was kind enough and sat us at a low table that I requested. It took about 10 minutes before anyone came to our table to pour some tastes. While we waited, my sister walked over towards the bar area and overheard two of the wine servers say "it's okay, they're just a walk-in." Really? Maybe we were a walk-in with a thousand dollars to spend! Our pourer was accommodating to our taste for white wine and created a tasting for us. We also ordered a half serving of oysters to pair with our wines. After our first taste, the guy came back and poured us three tastes of three of the same varietal and left the bottles on our table. We waited over 30 minutes for him to come back! In that time, we took it upon ourselves to refill our glasses, and not one person came to see if we were okay or if we were done with our oysters. Finally, after that long wait, we got to taste two more whites. The tasting was $60 each, but if you bought wine totaling $120, they waived the fees. Only because of that, I ordered two bottles. That, along with the oysters got us to the minimum, so our tastings ended up no charge. Good thing! I would have been very vocal if I had paid that much to be completely ignored! All in all, their wines were decent enough, but I'll never go back or order from them again.

Roughly 80% percent of their grapes are sold to other wineries, and they created their own wine label in 2003. They are one of the largest olive oil producers in the PNW, supplying the olive oil for Portland-based Salt & Straw's Arbequina Olive Oil Ice Cream. Their hilly property also has different farming blocks at different elevations with unique soil conditions and microclimates, which adds to the complexity of their wines and grapes. SCENIC VIEWS: Durant is perched in the Dundee Hills, and their outdoor seating area offers sweeping views of the Williamette Valley as well as their beautiful property. ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES: The vineyard also includes a gift shop, plant nursery, expansive gardens, a nature trail, event spaces, and more. During my recent visit with two friends, we did a wine flight in their outdoor seating area, ordered the charcuterie board, walked on the nature trail, and ended our visit in the gifted shop where we tasted their fused olive oils. They were so flavorful and robust that I bought a three-pack to bring home with me. While I'm sure the employee did not have malicious intentions, his comment still had a negative impact on her as a mother of interracial children. I'm noting this with the hope that these uncomfortable situations can be avoided in the future.
