We hired this company. I don't mind paying but when they missed so many areas. It's very frustrating and I have to finish the job myself. Anthony promised a great job and so didn't Nicole. I sure didn't even get a good job. The hand railings are super rough, and where the pressure washer chewed up the wood it was never fixed. It was definitely a hack job. I was promised over the phone a walk through at the end. It never happened. Couldn't communicate with the workers. I couldn't understand them. Definitely the pictures that they posted on other jobs don't match what I paid for. A very disappointing experience with this company. We requested a consultation to discuss a new deck in our backyard, after the initial consultation they never bother to reply to our communications, whether it was email or voicemail, 5 weeks went by, finally contacted the company to get assistance, this time I requested to deal with a different person since the first guy was so unprofessional on managing (?) communications. The first thing they did was to have the exact same guy call me trying to pick up where he left, so that was our attempt at a second chance for the company yet they decided to have the person we requested NOT to speak with to be the one calling us back. They were prompt to respond, and before long they had someone on my property to inspect, measure the decks. Within days I had my quote. I liked that they offered different levels of work that I could select from. Before too long the contract was signed, and the work began. Given the fact it's a weather related business, they made every effort to accommodate our timeframe for getting the work done. Once the work began, the two member crew worked diligently to repair, replace, and eventually stain the entire two decks. It was not an easy project, but they completed the project on time, on budget and it came out awesome. This company was a pleasure to do business with. So the whole business from my perspective is poorly run. I sent pictures of our deck as requested, they gave a quote based on pics, which should have been my first clue. They guarantee a "professional" will review any needs for repairs/wood replacement and further cost would be quoted. Never happened, they sub contract work out to anyone in your area who is willing. We got a power wash and 2 coats of stain and no recommendation for repairs. Ok, good. Within 2 weeks of staining we ended up with 3 areas of wood breaking due to rot. Dealing with them from this point on for repair was rude and unpleasant. Dont use them. Find local business to do the job. read more

I used Seal-a-Deck to refinish my teak deck which was badly weathered. I found them to be very easy to deal with from beginning to end. Communication was professional and timely without any high-pressure sales tactics. The workmanship was really good and I am very happy with the service. The only thing to be aware of is that the varnish they use can bridge between two boards meaning that the gap might dry with some varnish visible between the boards. This is easily fixed by running a putty knife between the boards to break up the dried varnish, but if I had to do it all over again, I would make sure that the Seal-a-Deck crew addressed this before leaving the site. Perhaps by using a foam wedge between the gaps in the boards to prevent the varnish from pooling between the cracks. read more

They did an acceptable job on a large deck and porch. They only had one person do the whole job, which made the job take a long time. My issue is they left me with a " Take the money and run" feeling. There was no follow up at the end of the job to see if I was satisfied. I did notify them of a couple of problems, which they just ignored after they received their check. I would not use them again. read more

We have an older mahogany deck that needed a good facelift, so we worked with Mike and his team to determine the best solution. Their specialist Reggie came out and spent the entire day on the job prepping and sanding the deck, then applied several coats of transparent stain, making sure that the color on the mahogany floor and balusters/railings matched perfectly. I have been totally thrilled with the job done on my deck. I've used Seal-A-Deck twice now and consistently found workers conscientious, time efficient and generally nice guys. It's a large redwood deck that presented multiple problem. I was so disappointed with other contractors over the years that I neglected the deck. There were popping boards, deep stains and it was very weathered. The finished deck looked good but not great, needing an additional coat as the dry wood just sucked in the stain. Seal-A-Deck came right back, no charge and put in time and material. The result was gorgeous. I highly recommend them, having used them again this Spring. Have used Seal-A-Deck twice - firs when the deck was built and then for maintenance. They're friendly, helpful and do a quality job - the job looks great and I'm happy to be a customer. I've read a few reviews about them taking a while to get back to you - I have had the same experience twice. My impression is that they are a small operation and might struggle to keep up. We are still fairly new to the Boston area and getting used to the heavy winters we have. Seal-A-Deck sealed our wood porches two years ago and just completed another round of sealing on our porches again. The person who worked on our wooden decks did an excellent job. His power washing was very good and his work with stain (which required different types of different porches and stairs) was conscious, careful & professional. When I asked him to change color, he did. Also, he did a lot of carpentry work in replacing some of our rotten wood. Again, he did a very careful job. I submitted an on-line quote to have our newly installed deck stained and sealed. No response. It took several emails to even have them acknowledge the receipt of the quote. Once acknowledged it took many,many emails to get the owner to call me to discuss and take it to the next step. Just when I was about to give up, I received a call. Michael informed me that my on-line quote was accurate ($699), however because the deck was on the 2nd floor it would cost an additional $250 to rent scaffolding. I accepted ($949). The job was completed as agreed however no scaffolding was used. Just out of curiosity, I questioned Nicole the project manager and she informed me that they don't charge for scaffolding if required so she would have to speak to the owner. Two months go by and I get many apologetic emails from Nicole but nothing from owner. Finally after two months I receive a voice mail from Michael and he says that he misspoke originally in that they don't rent scaffolding but charge the extra $250 if their employees need to use a ladder. At this point I laughed and gave up. I knew there was no amicable resolution. My original hope to set up an annual maintenance contract was scratched. Bottom line, my job was not worth their time so they needed to sweeten the deal. Shame on them. read more
