As a recent Fairfield U grad, I have to give the grape 5 stars. If you were a Fairfield senior and did not go to the grape at least once a week, then I'm not sure what you did. In fact, you should just walk out to the light house during low tide and wait a few hours until you can't see the shore... I'm proud to be a regular at the grape, present during the school year on most Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. James H. makes a fantastic timeline about a typical grape-night. And Mike C... to my defense and the defense of my classmates, only about 10% of seniors fell under the tube top/gelled hair category. However, I can say that about 95% of us were blacked out before close. I was there a few times during the summer and I have to say, I'm very disappointed about the light crowd. Even though the students are gone, I figured locals and shoobies would pour in more frequently. Regardless, the grape is the epitome of the Fairfield U social scene. My night at the grape (after a hefty pregame at lantern point) would usually start with a few vodka 180's and a half a dozen house shots (which are only $1). Chris, the DJ, pretty much sticks to hip-hop all night. And even though Fairfield might be the least diverse campus on the East Coast, we know how to drink and embarrass ourselves through the art of dance, preferably right next to the dartboards. We also know how to waste money in games like Buck Hunter, Lobster Claw, and Bowling. On Tuesdays, most drinks are $2, and all the time $2 bud light bottles are hard to beat. I've never heard of another bar that supports a shitshow of a water/booze fight the night after graduation and gives out commorative t-shirts to their loyal Fairfield U senior customers. Quite possibly the worst bar I have ever experienced. Older blonde women by the women's bathroom seemed sweet by first glance but I was proven otherwise. Me and my friends were kicked out (on my buddy's 21st) for having a great time. I guess warnings aren't a thing anymore as we were kicked out right on the spot for looking at a Christmas tree. We were verbally assaulted last night by a group of your drunk customers as we walked by and your staff did nothing as bystanders. The "Grape" is way more than the most popular Fairfield U bar by the beach! The service/management and owner are second to none, plus the food is fantastic. I recently tried the wings and hot dog platter and will go back again this week to try other things. Plenty of outdoor, socially distant seating with heaters as well. I have been there plenty of times over the past 22 plus years in the neighborhood but never took the time to try the food. I will not make that mistake again. Visiting my boys in Fairfield. Went here at 10pm. Place was filled with middle aged moms. If you want to waste your time talking to mothers with kids at home and be surrounded by over aggressive bouncers this place is for you. My friend got punched in the face by a bouncer. The kid was voicing his frustration with the bartender that didn't return is credit card. No one in management seemed to care or was concerned with how the situation was handled. Don't waste to your time there! There are beautiful people in Fairfield by the beach. Find and make friends and you will have a better night. read more

This is the local senior bar for Fairfield University. If you are a student there chances are you, and all your friends will at least stop by sometime durring the week. The most popular nights for students are Thursday, Friday, Saturday, but there is a strong Tuesday night contingent as well. Especially in the spring the bar fills up around 11:00 most nights and lines can be very long. Drink specials are pretty good if you like Bud-Light and the darts and various games are always fun. On most night be prepared to be packed in to a college bar where everyone knows everyone from class and most people are pretty wasted. read more

If you haven't been to The Seagrape you have to go! It's a staple in Fairfield. I love this place especially in the summer months. We would make a day of going to the beach (it's right across from lantern point, and in walking distance from penfield and jennings) and then stop here in the afternoon for a beer or cocktail. I have been living in Fairfield for about 7 years and always pop in from time to time. Great staff and bartenders who are super accommodating and respectful and FUN! They always take care me here! This place has been here for years and is the spot to be at Fairfield beach. Locals who frequent are friendly, you can tell it's a tight community down at the beach. I recently had dinner and drinks at Seagrape and I left wondering why I don't go there more often! Of course Seagrape is iconic in Fairfield for nightlife by the beach, but who knew they had such a tasty casual menu...of course the wings were great, the salads are great, but I had a BLT on toasted rye with tarragon mayo that was delicious! The mango margarita (ok maybe I had more than one) was also wonderful! The staff there is incredibly attentive and friendly as well. Go there -- you won't be sorry! read more

My husband and I just moved down to the beach area in Fairfield and we love to walk down to the seagrape to grab drinks and play pool. They have good happy hour prices and multiple TV's playing the games, making it a great Sunday spot! The bartenders are so nice and the place is super casual and fun. We love it here! read more

Seagrape is a Fairfield institution, but it also gets a lot of things right. Open daily it's happy hour is a must, the local in its self is a charming throwback place. The food they serve is American pub, but done very well and of good quality. Staff is friendly and helpful, besides being by the beach makes everyone mellow. Inside their is plenty to do from pool table, darts or sports events in surround sound on large TV'. Later in the evening as you munch on your food you could catch some surprisingly good live music. Very kid friendly with a menu of tots for tots amazing. So bring the family down and try the Grape as regulars call it. read more

Went to seagrape tonight. Been there a bunch of times as my husband is a Fairfield University alumni from 2005. My friends and I were the only customers there on a Saturday afternoon and were treated very rudely by the bartender Tremaine the entire time despite very minimal requests for draft beers. Tremaine informed us that there was a private party and we would need to vacate soon. We settled up giving over a 20% tip despite the sub par service for the drinks we received the past two hours and continued to be rudely informed we needed to leave as there was a private party. Though we had time before the private party officially began and full drinks to finish we were informed we had to leave immediately. As we left, the bouncer was equally as rude and informed us we needed to leave before the private party started because they needed to adjust the sound system. When I questioned how me finishing my full drink that I already paid for affected them adjusting the sound system the bouncer was unable to give a logical explanation instead unintelligibly insisting we leave though it not even be 8pm on Saturday. Very upset how disrespected we were especially being their only customers for hours on a Saturday afternoon in the summer and will definitely never frequent here again even though it was our go to after Penfield beach weekends. They clearly don't care about their customers. read more

Stayed at the inn next door, a different review for a different day... but stopped into the Seagrape cafe for dinner after the beach. I was honestly astounded by the incredibly delectable meal that was placed before me in such a prompt time. The chef clearly knows what he's doing. The Cod was the best I've ever tasted, So fresh and well cooked. I must say, anything that was house made (i inquired about everything I ordered) was clearly well thought of in its making and done so well. In later hours, they hosted a DJ who also pleased the bar goers. If you're looking for a place to grab a tasty meal and enjoy a fun atmosphere, this is the place. I used to love it here but they hired the worst dj for the summer and now this place actually sucks, there were only 3 people dancing and he ignored their requests. As a dj you would think you would want to please the handful of people actually dancing to the music you're playing but this was not the case. I will not go back there with this guy as the dj. I have been to the Grape a few times, as a senior at Fairfield U. This bar is not worth your time or money. Besides its dilapidated appearance, the staff who work at this bar do not care about their customers. I paid a $5 cover and an additional $5 for a wristband which was supposed to entitle me to an open bar between 10:00 and 11:30, which they ended 10 minutes early at 11:20. When I complained they had me thrown out of the bar. Some customer service! I WILL NEVER GIVE THEM ANY OF MY BUSINESS EVER AGAIN!! read more

Worst bar in all of Connecticut. Only stays open because of its location. It is THE ONLY bar Fairfield U students will go to because they can walk there/ all the rich beach kids live there. The layout is god awful. Island bar in center, wide open space around it, no dancefloor and bad chairs. They charge a cover usually of 5-10$, 15$ on nights like senior week because they know dumb college kids will pay for the last bad experience before graduating. Drinks are also expensive 10$ each, good luck getting served, bartenders only go to girls, I'll stand at the bar with 100$ bill and still get no service. When u do get service drinks are never made the same and u get a different drink each time. Bar is always packed, no room to breathe or move and you cant hear anyone. Bathrooms are nasty and smelly, stall doors don't even close. They will never renovate or change this place because they simply Dont have to, they will make enough money of cover charge alone. College kids are to dumb to realize and to cheap to spend mommy and daddy's money on a cab to go to better bars down the street they could also walk to in 15 minutes. If anyone bought this bar and turned it around into something good they would make a killing all year. Instead this bar goes back to being and old man bar during summer. Let me start by setting the scene. Friday night, clear skies, morale is at an all time high. My friends and I were looking to have one hella a night out on the town at our favorite drinking hole, Anna Liffy's. However, as we approached the entrance way, we unfortunately faced reality. Anna Liffy's has officially closed. Sad! But rather than letting this night get the best of us, we decided to mosey on over to the Seagrape! As we approached the bar, all signs were pointing up. Packed house, live music, endless booze. However, as we entered, the world flipped upside down. When waiting for a drink at the bar, we realized there was only one bartender. Being completely understaffed was an understatement at this point. Waiting 39 minutes and 17 seconds just to get a beer is unacceptable. But hey, remember moral is high. This one poor management decision ruin wasn't going to ruin our night. Fast forward five minutes, and we were playing darts. Cricket, to be exact. And get this, I was one bullseye away from winning! Buckle up and hold on tight, because this is when things get crazy. The bouncer comes up to us. For the sake of this story, let's say his name is Gerald. Well, Gerald asks us in a mean voice if we got the darts from the bartender. When we respond by saying we got them from the people before us, Gerald was PO'd. He circled us like a shark eyeing up his prey, and demanded we leave the bar. After asking what did we do, Gerald told us we had to leave. He proceeded by forcefully grabbing the beers out of our hand, and began pushing us out the door. When we got outside, he pushed us off the property, causing me to fall to the ground, scraping my knee. Safe to say he hurt my leg, and my feelings. Even though we protested to the bouncer, he told us that we could not reenter. Our night was ruined, and we will never come back here again.
