Whole catfish
Rozalynn B.

This restaurant is inside of a gas station. I stopped by for lunch on a Saturday afternoon about 3pm. This place was PACKED! There was a long line in there. I ordered 2 whole catfish, 2 whitefish filets, and a 3pc dark dinner. Service was ok. It took about 15mins. The fish was freshly friend and pretty good, could've used seasoning. The chicken wasn't fresh, it was warm and had a good flavor, but not fresh. Not sure I'd go back. But it was nice to try them out.

Never would I have thought that gas station seafood would be this good. But yes it was. Portion size was plentiful as well. Great price and great food. The gas station itself was not clean but the food makes it a 4 star for me.

Get you an overstuffed shrimp poboy. Shrimp falls all over the place . Cooked and seasoned well. I must have one on every trip home to Meridian.

Great crawfish, they have both cooked and live. Awesome overstuffed poboys. It is a take out place.

Crawfish hotter than chimney fire and the beer was cheap and cold. They have the best seasoned crawfish in this area.

Weidmann's Restaurant - Peanut butter and Ritz crackers on the table

Loved the history! Food was great. Didn't really get the…read morepeanut butter thing. It tasted like regular jarred peanut butter tree e. Maybe if yall make some homemade and offer that. Would be cool

My parents and I stumbled across this place on our way home, and what a find it was. From the…read moremoment we stepped inside, we knew we were somewhere special. The exposed brick and thoughtful décor struck the perfect balance--classic and nostalgic with just the right touch of modern style. We were immediately welcomed by the sweetest hostess (I hate that I can't remember her name--she had glasses, a beautiful smile, and the cutest dress). She greeted us with genuine warmth and hospitality that's hard to come by these days. She led us into the main dining room and seated us at a charming table dressed in crisp white linens. The space featured more exposed brick, tasteful artwork, and just the right amount of décor. The temperature was perfect, and the tables were spaced far enough apart to create an intimate, relaxed atmosphere. Our waiter arrived promptly and was both friendly and knowledgeable. He clearly knew his craft and took the time to walk us through the specials, making sure we felt confident and excited about our choices. We ordered sweet tea, which was perfectly brewed--not overly sweet, just right. The complimentary peanut butter and crackers were something new to us, but after reading about the history behind it, we appreciated the thoughtful touch even more. Our food arrived quickly, and everything was fresh and cooked to order. We tried the spicy chicken sandwich, the cheeseburger, and a special featuring a panini with a cup of gumbo. Each entrée came with perfectly cooked homemade chips. Every bite was spot-on--truly a 10 out of 10. Even though we were full, we couldn't resist ordering dessert--when in Rome, right? We chose the peanut butter pie and the famous Black Bottom pie. After one bite of those generously sized slices, we all paused and just looked at each other. I don't exaggerate when I say we unanimously agreed they were the best pies we've ever had. What started as a plan to sample a few bites and take the rest to go ended with two completely empty plates. We consider ourselves food lovers, and I genuinely couldn't find a single flaw in the entire experience. We live nearly three hours away and are already planning a trip back. If you've made it this far in my amateur review, thank you--and I truly hope you get the chance to experience this wonderful, history-filled gem for yourself.

Don P’s Taste of the Bayou - snow crab and shrimp boil with added sausage

Don P’s Taste of the Bayou

-- Good Intentions, Poor Execution…read more Let me start by saying I wanted to like Don P's. Friday lunch, only three other tables occupied, and a menu that had real potential. Unfortunately, the experience fell short from the moment we walked in until we tracked someone down just to pay and leave. ________________________________________ First Impressions No greeting. No hostess. We stood at the entrance long enough to feel awkward before walking up to the counter ourselves to ask the basics -- do we seat ourselves? Is there table service? They clearly saw us, but ignored us. Not a great start for a sit-down restaurant. ________________________________________ Atmosphere & Presentation The décor is trying to do something, but it lands closer to glitzy-cheap than charming. More noticeable: the food arrived in takeout containers with plastic utensils, and drinks came in disposable cups. At a table-service restaurant. At lunch. No aprons, no uniforms on the staff -- nothing that signals "we take this seriously." ________________________________________ The Food OG Gumbo -- 3/10 I've driven hours out of my way for great gumbo. This wasn't it. Okra, andouille, chicken, shrimp -- the ingredients were there, but the broth was thin and watery in a way I've genuinely never experienced before. It's not the worst gumbo I've ever had (chain restaurants hold that title), but it was very substandard, a real disappointment. Cajun Pasta -- 2/10 This one was rough. Overcooked pasta, bordering on paste, and salted so aggressively it tasted almost intentional -- like Cajun seasoning AND an extra round of salt was added separately. Nearly inedible, and I don't use that word lightly. ________________________________________ Service Virtually nonexistent. We were ignored for most of the meal and had to physically hunt down our server to get the check -- so we could leave and go eat somewhere else. That about sums it up. ________________________________________ Final Thoughts Don P's isn't without potential -- the concept is there, and the food came out hot and fast. But hot and fast doesn't cover watery gumbo, over-seasoned pasta, disposable everything, and a staff that seemed indifferent to our presence. With some serious attention to food quality, service standards, and basic dining room professionalism, this place could be something. Right now, it's not. Would I return? No. Would I recommend it? Not yet.

5-Star Review Don P…read morein Meridian absolutely delivered! I tried the seafood pasta and it was honestly one of the best dishes I've had in a long time. The pasta was cooked perfectly, the sauce was rich and full of flavor, and the seafood was fresh, seasoned just right, and generously portioned. You can tell they put real care into the meal. Every bite had that perfect balance of flavor that makes you stop and say, "yeah... this is it." The service was friendly, the atmosphere was great, and the food came out hot and fast. I'll definitely be back -- and if you go, do yourself a favor and order the seafood pasta. It's worth every penny.
