When we arrived in Maui, there were rains and storms, which made me nervous that some plans might fall through anyway! On the day of our excursion, plans did indeed change- Zephyr called several hours before to let us know that our initial meetup spot wouldn't work due to poor conditions. They offered a reschedule, or a change of the meetup spot, which we were happy to do. When we arrived at the new spot our guide, Payson, already had the kayaks and gear set up, but explained that, due to shifting winds, he would have to make another adjustment to the original plans to make sure we stayed safe. He also offered to reschedule if we weren't amenable to the changes. As a client based professional myself, I was very impressed that Zephyr as a company would rather take a loss for a day than be unsafe or disappoint. (Also of note is that they offer a turtle guarantee- if you don't see what you came to see, they will take you out again sans additional charge) Even with the changes, everything worked out and we ended up having a great day of it! What we saw was even more beautiful than I had imagined! I think this is in great part due to Payson's extensive knowledge of the area. We were taken to a beautiful coral reef filled with parrot fish and other smaller fishes. He was able to educate us on the reef and the wildlife. We were even able to hold up a pencil sea urchin, super cool! We also saw plenty of turtles, including one that was being cleaned of algae by small fish! Payson took plenty of pictures and videos, which we were able to purchase afterward for a reasonable fee. Overall, we are super impressed with Payson as a guide and are incredibly satisfied with our experience with Zephyr! This will most certainly be the highlight of our trip, can't recommend these people enough!

The snorkeling is amazing, the crew was awesome (especially with the kids, and Captain Nicholas was hilarious), and the food and drinks were great (breakfast, lunch, open bar, and ice cream.) The kids (and most adults) wear floatation belts, so it's fine if everyone isn't a super-strong swimmer. They had boogie boards available as well if needed. We even saw a reef shark! We found the Dolphin Watch Sail Deluxe which was perfect. And there were dolphins! Literally hundreds of spinner dolphins all over the place just offshore. What a treat. The kids were thrilled. The first thing the captain when he saw them was called all the kids up to the (trampoline) on the front so that they could see the dolphins underneath. The kids were so excited. It was amazing. The boat was spacious for the number of people we had on the tour. Maybe 30? Just a guess. There were lots of seats indoors and outdoors, and people tended to move around quite a bit. The staff were wonderful. They told us about the animals that we saw: spinner, dolphins, green sea turtles, and monk seals. There was also a photographer who took pictures of family groupings. They weren't cheap, $90, but she took so many of our family. It was totally worth it. They served lunch, snacks, and drinks. My only suggestion is that it might be worth a thought for them to eliminate the lunch entirely. There was nothing wrong with it. Pork sandwiches and salad were great, but I just don't see how it's necessary given that the tour left at 1:30. That seemed to keep the staff pretty busy and maybe needlessly? I don't know if it would be worth reducing the price by just a small amount and eliminating that because I'm not sure if it's that much of a draw. It was absolutely perfect. We all loved it! Highest recommendation!

We had the BEST time on the Sea Maui Sunset Cocktail Cruise! From the very beginning, the experience was wonderful. When it was time to board, it was immediately clear that the crew knew exactly what they were doing. We visited during "hurricane" season, so the swells were definitely LARGE -- but that didn't stop us from having the time of our lives! Great music, amazing staff, fun fellow cruisers, drinks flowing, delicious food, and the most incredible Maui sunset. The vibes were absolutely immaculate from start to finish. Somewhere along the way, I also became the unofficial, official iPhone-ographer of the boat and ended up taking photos for sooo many people! One of my favorite things about the cruise was the crowd -- it was truly all ages, and ALL ages were awesome and an absolute pleasure to party with. We met so many genuinely nice people, including a group we clicked with so well that we decided to keep the night going afterward and ended up hanging out and doing karaoke together! That probably says everything you need to know about the fun, friendly, social atmosphere Sea Maui creates. We had such a great experience that I'm already excited to hopefully book a private charter with Sea Maui for our wedding welcome party next year! 10/10 experience. Highly recommend. Disappointing Experience and Poor Customer Service…read more We booked this snorkeling excursion because the business advertised that swimming was not a requirement. Since I don't know how to swim, we specifically called on the day of the trip to confirm that non-swimmers were welcome, and we were reassured that they were. Imagine our surprise when a guide asked us at check-in, "What are you doing here if you don't know swimming?" Once we reached the snorkeling location, I became frightened and uncomfortable, and the flotation device provided wasn't comfortable for me. I understand that snorkeling isn't for everyone and that safety must come first. What disappointed us was the crew's dismissive attitude when we struggled. Comments like "Yeah, that face is not okay" and "You won't be fine" were discouraging, even as we were trying to gather the courage to try again. Another upsetting moment was when one of our group members was vomiting and the captain repeatedly told them to throw up farther away because they were "painting the side of my boat." We understand the practical challenges of seasickness, but a little compassion toward someone who is visibly unwell goes a long way. We weren't expecting special treatment or for the crew to compromise anyone's safety. We simply expected clear communication, respectful treatment, and some empathy. The issue isn't that I couldn't snorkel. It's that we specifically confirmed non-swimmers were welcome and were then made to feel unwelcome and excluded for being non-swimmers. If a certain level of swimming ability or water confidence is necessary, the business should communicate that clearly before booking. Unfortunately, the gap between what we were told and how we were treated made this a wasted trip and a one-star experience. I cannot recommend this excursion based on our experience.
