Weird but fine, if the text etiquette is on point. His was a mess. He asks me to take pictures inside and out, of the windows. Ok sure, but I'm one town over and you could just pop by. He asks what I want, I say picture windows. He sends me a picture of double hang and says he recommends them. Don't need them. Then he just TEXTS me a price range. Red flag. Where's your quote with the type of door being used? Also, the number is high. I ask for the SKU to look it up on my own. He sends me a generic link to an affiliate landing page for DOUBLE HUNG DOORS. Ok, so here's where you have to use your best judgement. These guys have great ratings on multiple pages, so they obviously do excellent installs. But that doesn't mean they aren't ripping people off, because you can get similar work done for MUCH cheaper. That's where I got him, bc he wasn't willing to disclose where his range was coming from and then immediately tried to pass me off to Renweal by Anderson, which is widely known as THE biggest price-hike in the game. The safe bet with them is whatever they quote you initially is about double what it should actually cost. So it makes sense the owner thought it's a reasonable peer in the industry. Then he weirdly started text-harassing me when I passed on his offer. Piss off.

After requesting a quote online, Paul followed up quickly via text and we scheduled a consult for the very next morning. Paul and his son were an absolute pleasure to work with. They clearly understood our situation--we just needed to get the house in good shape to sell--and never once tried to upsell us. In an age where so many companies subcontract everything out, it was incredibly refreshing to work directly with a father-and-son team who clearly take pride in their work. We even spent some time swapping stories about great rock 'n' roll shows we've seen. On their way out, I asked if we could quickly borrow their measuring tape to check the size of a missing piece of siding, since we planned to try fixing it ourselves. Without hesitation, they offered to take care of it when they came back to install the windows. That generosity alone meant so much and took one more thing off our very full to-do list. A few weeks later, the windows arrived and were installed without issue--and they absolutely added value to the house. But the story doesn't end there. Less than a week before closing, we discovered another piece of siding that needed repair. I texted Paul to see if they might be able to fix it or recommend someone, fully expecting to pay. LIke many people, we rely on customer reviews and word of mouth when hiring for home projects. Despite being the most expensive option, we chose Refined Roofing after relying on other customer reviews. A huge mistake! In short, do not hire Refined Roofing because of their lack of site management, their lack of professionalism, and their deceitful behavior. We live in a neighborhood where houses are close to one another. We were concerned about the impact of our project on our neighbors and made this clear to Refined Roofing at the start. We were promised careful site management from a site supervisor, with a specific promise to tarp the area, including the neighbor's yard, to capture all debris. NO supervisor was on site during the actual execution of the project. As the photo shows, the area was INADEQUATELY tarped, debris was carelessly spewed all over our property and our neighbor's. When supervisors finally visited the site, they promised to repair the neighbor's yard. Once I paid my bill, they refused to make good on their promise. Additionally, the actual workmanship was sloppy. Among other things, they knowingly applied broken shingles to the new roof and did not apply a promised second coat of rubber in one area. Furthermore, the owners of Refined Home Services, Gino and Karen, were rude, dismissive, and dishonest when confronted with the facts. They denied that there was any debris mismanagement or damage, despite the photo proof included here. While the company replaced the broken shingles and finally cleaned up the initial mess, they refused to take responsibility for the damage they caused and left us in the uncomfortable situation they created with our neighbors. In short, Refined Roofing lacks quality of service, integrity, and decency. This company is not worth hiring ... ever.

After some back and forth, clarity seems to exist and effort is being made with GreenSky-with no results promised and request for a week's time. The call is appreciated hopefully some results will follow. -End Update- I rarely leave reviews, but this experience has been unusually difficult and worth sharing. I am a homeowner and also work in contracting, so I understand how these projects should be handled. This situation is not typical. This project was financed through GreenSky with a 12-month promotional period. The vendor (HiTech) installed a window that was not code compliant. I discovered the issue through an open permit and notified both the vendor and lender. Despite this, the work was not brought into compliance quickly, replacement damaged , a tempered window. Due to repeated non-performance, I lost confidence in the vendor's ability to complete the work when they requested the sash id after they had stated a replacement was ordered but not yet broken. I am now working with another contractor to bring the project up to code. 16 months later-I got 6/7 windows to code and 7k in accrued/deferred interest for my troubles. In general. At the same time, the lender continues to apply deferred interest and has not provided any meaningful assistance despite the unresolved permit. This has resulted in additional cost and time to correct an issue that should have been resolved by the original contractor. In my experience, both workmanship and resolution support fell short of expectations. I would strongly recommend ensuring code compliance and clear accountability before proceeding with similar work with either. I will update this review if the situation is resolved or changes for the positive. A simple change for the vendor and lender would be for them to provide a copy of complete permit to lender. Or extend promotion a few months when exceptions like this happen. Or pay the interest when they are responsible. Or apologize.

I have installed a number of replacement windows so I know right from wrong. Installation for 12 windows was supposed to take 2 days but it took 5 hours. The installers were NOT going to insulate around the frames until I insisted. They refused to insulate the bottom of the frame to my satisfaction. They refused to install the top vinyl trim cap. This left a one inch space above the window frame which they filled with caulking. The caps ended up being left over parts. Skip ( owner) offered to take them out and re-install (no thanks), Skip apologized and blamed it on coronavirus.
