Relatives who live Hallett Cove as do I recommended them and as I was passing by, after visiting…read morethem, I parked and went. I was so astonished and mind-blown by the arrays of magnificent-looking choices I only bought a vanilla slice because my head was spinning. It was utterly wonderful, so the next day I went back, bought a gluten-free chocolate brownie because it was the only choccy brownie I saw, and a chocolate croissant. Snarfed the entire croissant that evening figuring the brownie would last better in the fridge. Today, after almost 24 hours and cold from its brown bag in the fridge, it's still got to be the chocolatiest, richest, tastiest brownie I've had in many a long year (& I'm a lot closer to 80 than the last time I had any shop-bought baked treat this wonderful.) Not much to say about the ambiance because such impressive baked goods outshone everything else, though the interior did seem as clean, bright and shiny as it should be and the service was cheerful, prompt and helpful especially given how busy they were in waves. I was also tickled to see the treats for littlies, from tiny rainbows with clouds at both ends, to unicorns to a Minion an adult fan I know would love. I do expect to get to try their meat pies as well, but again, haven't yet been able to make up my mind which to try first. This review is only "pretty epic" because the bakery is!

Finally..... A proper bakery in the Cove! Having moved here months ago, the first thing I said was…read morethat HC needed a proper bakery!! And here it is...... So I've only once today, on their opening, to check out the Steak, Bacon and Cheese pie.... And it was delicious! Good chunky fillings and a nice gravy! Well cooked pastry too!! I will return in the coming days to check out the range of other pastries and cakes I saw available.....! The shop was clean, and supplied some seats and table inside and outside to eat there! On the whole a good first time experience.... I will be back!

A very average bakery indeed ... I actually give it 2 1/2 stars, but thought I'd round it up ;)…read more Decor is straight out of the 70s/80s, and while it was pretty busy when I visited, I think it's only because it's the only bakery around this area. I was on my 'find coffee places around my work' mission - after walking down Brighton Road and finding nothing within walking distance, I thought I'd see if this bakery has joined the coffee brigade like a lot of others. It did, but definitely not *good* coffee. No soy milk, of course, so I ordered a long black. A separate staff member had to be summoned for this task, and even though she asked me whether I like my coffee strong (I asked for 'medium'), I was presented with a watery, luke-warm coffee ... guess I should have ordered 'extra strong'. I saw the machine, but I swear it tasted like instant. Hmmm. I felt I couldn't do a proper review based solely on their coffee though, so I ordered a 'coffee log' - it was actually pretty tasty, but nothing spectacular. All bakery fare looked pretty standard, though I'm tempted to come back and see what their pies are pasties are like. You never know, they might earn an extra star! I definitely won't be getting coffee from here again though ;)

This is one of those bakeries that is well worth dropping into regularly.
