A sight for sore eyes and a good feed for empty tummies. Firstly it's good to see some lateral thinking it comes to opening cafes and such and this is a good example of letting the outdoors in or the inside out, which ever way you want to look at it. Bench seating just on the verge of the inner parameter and seating on the footpath with umbrellas for shade. A really nice atmosphere with the beach down the road blowing a cool breeze. Not only that but the food is baked on the premises and is delicious, on this particular day I ordered a bluberry scroll but then noticed the special of the week was yiros pie, too late I was halfway through the scroll. You can see the bakers rolling and folding the dough in the back ground, they make a variety of goods such as pies, cakes, pastries, bread, etc and around Xmas time you can place orders for puddings. The prices are reasonable for home style baking and they are adventurous in the recipes .

Brilliant bakery with some wonderful creations! Whereas other bakeries are happy to rehash the same 'ol same 'ol, these guys push the bounds of culinary perfection.

Delicious brownie and a well made latte

A nice change from Jetty Rd, great food and drink options. Arriving mid morning, It was very popular with the majority of seats taken up. Quite a good amount of seating inside and out, with the option to buy your produce from the adjacent shop. I went with poached eggs and avocado on toast, eggs were cooked perfectly and the avocado mix was beautiful. I grabbed a Go Go goji juice which was delicious also. Friends chose the veggie fritter which was also given the thumbs up. Friendly staff and they were happy to help with your order and despite being busy, our orders came out within a reasonable time frame for a Saturday morning. Definitely worth a look if you are in the Glenelg area and want somewhere a bit quieter than the bustling Jetty Road.

Gorgeous coffee, and a magnificent slice of pear and ginger cake - yum! The breakfasts that were coming out looked devine, so I'm looking forward to trying that out too. I also spied some yummy looking wraps and other lunch items on the board. Staff were friendly, and there is plenty of seating - so glad we left before the cyclists arrived though - *shudder* - nowhere is safe from them!!! We also did a bit of shopping next door in the little organic shop - it's only small, so the range isn't massive - but they do stock soap nuts, which I was very impressed with (they are nuts that you use instead of laundry powder - highly recommended!). We also sampled (and bought) some gorgeous sour dough bread made by Small World Bakery, which was delicious. All in all, this is definitely a place we will visit time and time again - yay!

Coffee is top quality, lattes smooth and creamy, just as they should be. Having said that; last week the pizzas weren't as good, the base was soft and a tad chewy. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt though as we had taken them to a friends house for dinner and they were in the box for the 10-15 mins drive so they may have steamed themselves. Every other time I've had their pizza it has been amazing. Another update; they've changed a few of the recipes. The Margherita is still yummy, but not as good as it used to be. However the Double-Smoked Bacon is so much better than before (but could be improved with a few more pieces of pineapple). Goodlife still do really nice pizzas with quality ingredients.

Approximately once a month myself and some of the lads (there are about 15 regulars now) get together for an onslaught of meat. Needless to say the fairer sex is not permitted due to the manliness required to consume as much meat as we do. My nickname is 'The Surgeon' on account of my preference to cutting all of the fat off before eating. The go is, at the BBQ Inn one must order a minimum of the Mixed Grill which is a porterhouse, lamb shashlik, 3 chevapchichis, a big-ass sausage and some token onion, tomato and potato salad. Any other order must be approved by the Man Meat Members present. Just to paint an even more 'enlightening' picture, mid meal 'dumps' are not uncommon. The first time this wondrous occasion occurred it was my two mates (brothers) and myself. At one point I began to turn white and the waitress was incredibly concerned with my well being. This was my first experience of the 'Meat Sweats', and certainly has not been my last! Anyplace that can give birth to something as amazing as Man Meat Nights has got to be sweet as, and the BBQ Inn is most certainly that! I have noticed the quality of meat has dropped a little in the last few years, but I tend to take a LOOOOONG time to eat my half cow, so if gets a little cold and tough! By the way....if I have inspired you to organise your own Man Meat Group remember that the aftermath is often unpleasant. I'll leave it at that!

It's always packed and sometimes I find myself standing in a line outside the bakery. It isn't as if they're short staffed. Every time I've gone in there, they have 4-5 people serving. They're just pretty popular, and honestly, I'm not exactly sure why as they sell the same things as most bakeries. I'm guessing location? During the quiet periods (which I've only seen a couple times!), it's quick and easy to get what you want. As a vegan, I haven't ordered food here or even asked about vegan options, as I don't feel brave enough to ask! It's normally too busy and I feel like everyone just wants to get in, get what they want ASAP and leave. I normally just buy a cool drink and sneak my own lunch and eat it outside under the shelter. My coworkers always get their own rolls made (you can ask for the smaller round rolls if you'd prefer a smaller option to the foot longs). Vegetarians have plenty of options. The reason why I'm rating it 3/5 is because the standing area is tiny inside. The staff have always been nice, but it's just way too busy and crowded.

The counters are set out well though - one for sweets, one for savoury and one for sandwiches and roll ingredients. I ordered a chicken and vegetable pie - unfortunately, there were 2 small pieces of chicken, and mostly vegetable and sauce. Hmmm, not my ideal of a chicken pie at all! Each time I go (never of my own choosing of course) I hope to eat something worthwhile but sadly this hasn't happened. The food is barely passable and most meats are heavily battered. The restaurant itself is quite lovely, spacious airy and very red, of course. The service is its one redeeming feature. The staff are attentive and the hot hand towels before the meal are a pleasant touch. Lim, who owns the restaurant is a local celebrity and always has a great float in the Glenelg Christmas Pageant, complete with the "human" dragon. He is very good at front of house being very attentive to every customer. The oldies love him as he offers them free drinks on special occasions.
