Cooked fresh. Generous servings. Pies, pasties, sausage rolls. Plenty of delicious desserts including freshly made donuts, vanilla slices and more. Definitely one of the cheapest around and the best tasting. read more

What a lovely little bakery! Recently renovated, we have been coming here for a few years now (we…read moreused to live nearby). Staff are always very friendly, coffee is surprisingly good, and the pies & pasties are delicious! My favourite (unhealthy) option is the ham and cheese pasty - nice and salty (some may not like this, but I love my salt!), it is absolutely decadent!! Actually, everything I have tried from here has been high quality, fresh and tasty. It would get 5 stars if it had some gourmet options (and I would have given it 4 1/2 if I could!) ... but then again, it's doing very well as a basic high quality little bakery, so who am I to quibble with that??
I went to this bakery and purchased a delicious apple and custard tart. It was sooooo good…read more So a few days later I visited the shop to purchase another apple and custard tart. I was told they didn't have any. I asked if they had sold out. I was told that no they had not sold out that the bakers decide to bake whatever they feel like baking each day so you never know what products will be sold in the bakery on any given day. I made 3 more attempts to purchase the apple and custard tart on 3 different days before I gave up. I guess the bakers didn't feel like baking them on those days. What a strange way to run a bakery. Most bakeries stock a staple of the same items so that customers can go every day if they want to purchase their most favourite baked goods. It was like each day I visited I had to find out if that day would be my lucky day to have the privilege to purchase an apple custard tart. Since each day wasn't my lucky day and I left in disappointment I gave up and won't be returning again. Such a shame because their products are great but it's pot luck whether they feel like selling you your favourite baked goods that day or not. I found their prices to be quite high but I would have returned anyway if I was psychic and knew which day they would be selling apple and custard tarts.

I was so astonished and mind-blown by the arrays of magnificent-looking choices I only bought a vanilla slice because my head was spinning. It was utterly wonderful, so the next day I went back, bought a gluten-free chocolate brownie because it was the only choccy brownie I saw, and a chocolate croissant. Snarfed the entire croissant that evening figuring the brownie would last better in the fridge. Today, after almost 24 hours and cold from its brown bag in the fridge, it's still got to be the chocolatiest, richest, tastiest brownie I've had in many a long year (& I'm a lot closer to 80 than the last time I had any shop-bought baked treat this wonderful.) Not much to say about the ambiance because such impressive baked goods outshone everything else, though the interior did seem as clean, bright and shiny as it should be and the service was cheerful, prompt and helpful especially given how busy they were in waves. I was also tickled to see the treats for littlies, from tiny rainbows with clouds at both ends, to unicorns to a Minion an adult fan I know would love. I do expect to get to try their meat pies as well, but again, haven't yet been able to make up my mind which to try first. This review is only "pretty epic" because the bakery is!

So I've only once today, on their opening, to check out the Steak, Bacon and Cheese pie.... And it was delicious! Good chunky fillings and a nice gravy! Well cooked pastry too!! I will return in the coming days to check out the range of other pastries and cakes I saw available.....! The shop was clean, and supplied some seats and table inside and outside to eat there! On the whole a good first time experience.... I will be back!

A very average bakery indeed ... I actually give it 2 1/2 stars, but thought I'd round it up ;)…read more Decor is straight out of the 70s/80s, and while it was pretty busy when I visited, I think it's only because it's the only bakery around this area. I was on my 'find coffee places around my work' mission - after walking down Brighton Road and finding nothing within walking distance, I thought I'd see if this bakery has joined the coffee brigade like a lot of others. It did, but definitely not *good* coffee. No soy milk, of course, so I ordered a long black. A separate staff member had to be summoned for this task, and even though she asked me whether I like my coffee strong (I asked for 'medium'), I was presented with a watery, luke-warm coffee ... guess I should have ordered 'extra strong'. I saw the machine, but I swear it tasted like instant. Hmmm. I felt I couldn't do a proper review based solely on their coffee though, so I ordered a 'coffee log' - it was actually pretty tasty, but nothing spectacular. All bakery fare looked pretty standard, though I'm tempted to come back and see what their pies are pasties are like. You never know, they might earn an extra star! I definitely won't be getting coffee from here again though ;)

A good no-frills bakery in the updated shopping centre on Brighton Road…read more This place has been here for quite a while ... and it shows ;) I have sampled some sweet treats here previously, and they are nice without being 'amazing'. I came here to grab a pie or pasty for lunch ... at first I couldn't find the menu for hot food, then found it stuck up unceremoniously on the wall. They really should have a large menu board, as it's pretty confusing. Most of the shop is taken up with their sweets, which seems to be a specialty of theirs. They looked delicious (I had a custard tart), and again are yummy without being outstanding. I chose a bacon and cheese pasty - again, very nice, but not enough to make me rush back and get another one! (unlike the ham and cheese pasty at Seacliff Park Bakery - yipes!!). Staff are very friendly and efficient (it was pretty busy when I visited, but they handled it very well). I want to give them one more star ... but there is no 'wow' factor - just a good, basic bakery ;)

With some exceptions but even those are heavily 'australianised'. I grew up on what they pretend to do and I usually get the real deal once a year. And this is not even close. Another store I'm grateful is not in my area, as I do love a good cream bun, but they don't have a bun, they have a cream range: eclairs, kitcheners, turnovers - dieters beware. Then there's the donuts and berliners to try to tear your eyes away from. For the savoury tooths you have a full pastry range, for the bread lovers plenty of the good stuff. On top of this they do specialty cakes that are to die for. In a nutshell - can't talk, eating!
