A good no-frills bakery in the updated shopping centre on Brighton Road.
This place has been here for quite a while ... and it shows ;) I have sampled some sweet treats here previously, and they are nice without being 'amazing'. I came here to grab a pie or pasty for lunch ... at first I couldn't find the menu for hot food, then found it stuck up unceremoniously on the wall. They really should have a large menu board, as it's pretty confusing. Most of the shop is taken up with their sweets, which seems to be a specialty of theirs. They looked delicious (I had a custard tart), and again are yummy without being outstanding.
I chose a bacon and cheese pasty - again, very nice, but not enough to make me rush back and get another one! (unlike the ham and cheese pasty at Seacliff Park Bakery - yipes!!).
Staff are very friendly and efficient (it was pretty busy when I visited, but they handled it very well). I want to give them one more star ... but there is no 'wow' factor - just a good, basic bakery ;) read more
