Omg Something is up with older lady Carol, a cashier I unfortunately have to deal with as a regular customer. She has alway been disagreeable but lately she's absolutely venomous. Lately I have witnessed her refusing to pull her mask up from around her neck, voicing loudly how ridiculous this Covid scare is, or wearing it down below her nose. She obviously doesn't agree with the safety protocols in place so I guess it's ok that she's putting us innocent customers in danger. So today she had a mask fully on, none else was working the registers so I guess it gave her free reign to treat me like crap. She didn't address me when I approached to pay, no hello, nothing. Deadly glare was all I got. Maybe upset about the mask..asked for a bag, she looked at me like I was stabbing her..after payment, she stood silently, smoldering with anger, no thank you, nothing. I felt like I was doing something wrong being a patron of this store. I said thank you to her, and she said absolutely nothing back to me..so I tried one more thank you..and she screamed at me.."You're Welcome" with such disgust, I felt horrible,, not welcome at all. Really made me feel uncomfortable. Why is she treating paying customers with such abuse. She shouldn't be working with the customers when there's obviously something that's upsetting her so deeply. Everyone else there is professional and courteous. But I'm afraid Carol will be there when I go in, and I don't want to be treated with such disdain. I don't deserve that. No one does. I guess I'll shop elsewhere from now on. read more

As they were bagging my purchase the cashiers were comparing notes on how they have been actively trying to get the coronavirus. Even if you're a trumper and think this isn't as deadly as the media is making it out to be... can you still maintain basic hygiene? Cool thanks. read more

Review is for Railroad Ave. Same owners. My wife and I came here to cash a few scratch tickets and get some wine. The clerk had a beard, scally cap, and glasses. As we approach, I ask if they're planning on stocking a type of beer their other store carries. He says, "I honestly have no idea dude. We're lucky to have what we have." His tone cynical, implied more so that I should feel lucky to be able to purchase anything, let alone have special requests. This attitude was an albeit weird but harmless display of unmerited passive-aggressiveness. He rings us up and scans the tickets. We both observe the $12 winnings visually displayed. We ask for the winnings in $1 tickets. We turn to walk away and quickly realize there's only three. We tell him. He says, "I don't know what to tell you. The machine said $3." My wife says, "The tickets show $12, and the machine displayed $12." He says, "Nope." In other words, we're lying, an odd accusation considering the proof is in front of him. We ask to see the tickets. Coincidentally, only one is torn, and it's the $1 winner. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not, but that would make more sense of his attitude. We show him the $12 on the tickets. He says, "Take it up with the state. Not my fault." She says, "No, you owe me $9." The clerk then raises his voice, yelling at her that he has no control over the state. The state is his scapegoat. I interrupt and tell him the attitude isn't necessary. He yells, "I'm only giving attitude in response to hers!" She had barely spoken except a few questions and that one statement. She was more than polite about it, considering his demeanor. Neither of us was loud or aggressive. He again yells, "The machine is right! Nothing I can do! You just don't like it, but sorry I can't void it out, return your tickets, or pay you the difference. You'll need to take that up with the state." I'm not sure if the machine is right or the state is wrong? I don't quite follow his logic. Now there is a line forming and everyone watching, so another employee comes over to calm the situation. He asks what the problem is to which the clerk yells, "Nothing! This girl doesn't like what the machine says, and there's isn't anything I can do about it." My wife now irritated, responds, "I'm simply asking for what I'm owed! There's no way to count your til or view your transaction history?!" This display was the first attitude he received from us. He shouts, "No!" Then storms away while this other employee notices the winnings and starts typing in the lottery machine. He appears confident and seems to know a way to view the history or check the til. But, before he can make progress, his belligerent and incompetent colleague returns even more contentious. I deduced this from the pace at which he approached, his heavy breathing, and how he was now yelling louder. I assume he observed his colleagues impending success at proving him wrong In front of an audience, and his ego tarnished. He needs to reestablish dominance quickly. The only other interaction I've seen anyone approach somebody in a confrontational manner like this was in violent situations. I genuinely considered if he was going to try and take a swing at us. His mannerism and tone were undeniably and intentionally threatening. He yells, "You know what?! You want your money back? Here it is!" He flings a few bills under the divider. We take the money saying thanks sarcastically. He yells, "Don't come back!" I say, "We won't, and I'll be sure to let everyone else I know about this experience." To which, he yells, "Do whatever you want, dude! I really don't care!" Money is hard to come by right now. My wife is unemployed as a result of COVID. I'm sure many people are in the same boat. We've spent a decent enough amount of money here since moving. What I hear loud and clear is that he could care less. Owner, please take notice. As an alternative, I recommend Good Harbor Liquors on 340 Main St. It's a two-minute drive from Railroad. They appreciate the value of paying customers. read more

As a beach summer resident they are our go to liquor store. Good prices, nice selection, courteous staff. They are also active in supporting their Gloucester community. Good people. read more

You know what? They're just really nice guys. Sure, they have an impressive selection of beer and wine for decent prices but really I love it here so much because the staff and owner are just awesome. My ragtag group of friends came here a few weeks ago to grab some ocean side imbidement after running out of our original stock of ocean side imbidementand the employees were wonderful through our far too long debate on what we wanted to drink. After deciding upon a bottle of rum and a six pack of beer (because we can always take home what we don't drink...who did I think I was working with here?) the cashier gave us helpful advice and dealt with our second far too long debate-what to use as a mixer, even supplying us with a free can opener for the pineapple juice we actually did not buy. They packed everything up in a nice, easily transported box and waved goodbye with a big friendly smile on their face. I came back the next week, new staff-equally awesome. I swear, I even saw one of them singing along loudly to "All You Need is Love" I can't make these kind of pleasantries up. read more

I buy here 85% of the time here and 15% split between Costco and NH State liquor store. They offer prices that meet or are lower than NHSL. They of course have a much wider selection than Costco and prices are slightly higher on matching items. They will special order for you on occasion. I would have given them a 5th star if the discount on a buy the case purchase for wine were higher than 10%..It should be 20% for select customers that shop at Sea Breeze all the time. Shubes in Marblehead does this and it works out very nice for their loyal customer base. read more

Just called for the price of a case of beer. A woman answered ,she told me she didn't know what the cost was. I asked ,can you find out, please. She said, she was up front the beer was down back. I said, so you can't help me? She said, no I can't. Won't be buying the cases of beer I need here, that's for sure!!!!!! read more

This place isn't bad, and for Cape Ann it is good (not saying much as the selection, prices, and service on Cape Ann is terrible compared to most places). They do better than the competitors, especially Cape Ann Liquors at Gloucester Crossing (stay away from there, no selection and rude staff). I go here instead even though it is out of my way. read more
