They are an excellent little local liquor store here... I love the parking... glad they finally re-paved that parking lot because it needed it... Great parking now... much improved w/ parking lot now. The staff is the best, cheerful and friendly in my experience....welcoming... helpful... They were great during the pandemic and always still no matter what well stocked it seemed with my choices there. I've been going there in all my 9 years of residing here. Good news bad news. Good news is big parking lot out back, wide selection inside. Nice folks behind the counter. Bad news is 25-30% premium on high-end liquor. $42 bottle of scotch in Boston is $59 here. Might be good for a beer run but when visiting Gloucester, bring a towel and your own Laphroig. read more

BFD, right? That's bush league. - Killer coolers chock full o' chilled-down bombers from fairly rare brewers. Even the standalone big boys are right-priced, with Well's Banana Bread beer (try it as an ice cream float!) was a paltry $5. - This is the big one: they don't bend you over for mixers. Whereas most liquor locales love to run up convenience store stickers on club soda, cups and ice, these cats keep it at grocery levels. The Liquor Locker, located near the beginning of Gloucester's downtown area, is pretty good. They are always well stocked, and have a large selection of non-traditional items. They also occasionally have wine tastings, which is pretty cool for this area. The staff is very nice. Some places, the people behind the counter have this vibe about them- like they're watching you and making you feel like you're doing something wrong. Now, I'm not paranoid generally but I always get this feeling in the other local stores, but never in this one. I know several other people that feel this way too. Weird, but it makes a difference, especially when you want to browse and not feel like you're being watched. My boyfriend loves Sam Adams and they always have a huge selection here. Around Christmas, I picked up some sort of spicy alcoholic egg nog (not very good) and the price was lower than other places. As far as beer and wine stores go, this is a good place and has a nice location (with a parking lot in the back). read more

Rude, unprofessional, nasty and unappreciative. After years of spending my money at this place because frankly, their prices were better than the other stores in town, though not that much better, I finally decided I had had enough of the extremely rude treatment by the owners of Liquor Locker. The employees were always nice,which is probably the reason why I kept going there much longer than I should have. A few months ago, at the counter, when the guy was glaring at me again, I told him I had finally had enough of his abuse and rudeness and that I would not be returning to buy anything in the future. His reply was "We won't miss you." Enough said. I spend my money with people and businesses I love and admire and I promote them to everyone. Meanies, bullies and ungrateful business owners will not get my time, attention or money. read more

Liquor Locker was our alcohol vendor for our wedding. They were affordable and easy to work with. Chris helped us select beer and wine for guests with wide-ranging preferences, and there were plenty of good options to choose from. He made great recommendations, and was very prompt and courteous in corresponding about our order. After the wedding, Liquor Locker automatically picked up the unopened wine bottles and beer cases, and credited our account. So professional and easy. 2 minutes after 5 pm today (2017-07-10 Mon) they wouldn't let me return my 6 cases of beer, and purchase my weekly $100 worth of beer and liquor. I'll still bring my returns back there, but I'll be spending my money elsewhere. Three employees doing nothing behind the counter, so it's not "they were busy". And the employees there have seen me bring returns in way after hours; the old guy there was really nice on many occasions, and knew what value I brought to their business. These kids? Not so much, so, if they end up losing hours (or even positions) due to the loss of my business, well, perhaps they can get a job at a competitor. I'm also writing a letter to the owner, and will be broadcasting this experience to my friends. read more

This place is excellent ! I took the reviews from others and went there yesterday after the beach. The selection a was great! A lot of wine choices under $12. Some were 3/$24 and they were great. Service -5 star! Noticed that I was searching and offered help -then noticed I didn't know anything about hard cider and gave me a suggestion THEN carried the box to my car! My girlfriend and I used to go to the liquor locker all the time for our alcohol needs. Until today their i.d. scanner didn't work correctly and labeled my girlfriends i.d. as "at risk". Instead of typing in the i.d. manually they proceeded to accuse her of being underaged and proceeded to WIPE OFF HER CHANGED ADDRESS FROM THE BACK OF HER I.D.. I then had to go back to get the liquor we needed as we are making boose cupcakes. I asked who was the person who denied my gf service and the owner of the store stepped up claiming it was her job. 1. Its not your job to humiliate her in front of a crowded store because your scanner fucked up. 2. The second i told her that she had a huge problem and became very confrontational talkin bout "I'm not gonna let one person tell me what to do". When did i tell ya what to do? I came in as an unsatisfied customer, but i left as an ex customer. Never again. read more

All in all, the folks that run the show do a fantastic job. However...there is a young lady (30-ish) who isn't fit to deal with the public. She's still in the 7th grade. She flirts with -pretty much- all of the men, married or not (read: diminished ego) & not only myself, but others have watched her serve customers, and then disparage them. From what they wear (she manages to keep HER boobs in plain view) (again,....diminished ego), what they drive, what they do for a living (she's a CASHIER!!!), and where they live. I'd place my bets on the notion that she still lives at Mom & Dad's. When she's left alone at the counter, it's all about her. She is attention starved. The rest of the crew always makes you feel like you just home from work, and THEY are glad to see you, at least. read more
