Saddened by an absolutely terrible experience. This year just like last year, my family decided to celebrate Mother's Day here. We regret that decision. This restaurant, the manager, and the server Freddy's attitude was the worst I've experienced in any establishment I've ever been to: gas station, store, library, restaurant, you name it...this was THE worst. At a table of 5 adults, we ordered a surf and turf for my bf, 3 paellas for the ladies, and another dish for my bfs dad. Instead, the server was serving us with FOUR paellas and my bfs dad's order. He never put in the surf and turf for my bf and was trying to give him the extra unordered paella. My bf doesn't eat that. We told him he was mistaken and politely asked him to remove the paella and please provide the surf and turf. It was a quick fix and we were having such a great time beforehand. But, the server refused to admit he made the mistake, angrily blamed us, said that item was never ordered, said that we ordered 4 paellas, and most shockingly REFUSED to fix it. He became so angry and rude. The whole happy-lunch energy switched. Instead of fixing it Freddy said things like: No. It's too late. It's already been made. etc He was pretty much trying to force someone to pay for/eat something they didn't want or order. We pleaded with him and told him multiple times that he made a mistake and we didn't want it. He wouldn't swap it for the correct food dish and was saying we would still be charged for the order he mistakenly put in. To make matters worse he still served the meal on our table wrapped to go and said we would be charged for it. We asked for the manager. The manager then got involved. Bloop! He instantly proved to be of no assistance and within seconds of speaking, he confidently said his server didn't make the mistake. As if he was there and 5 people are wrong instead of admitting or considering- hmm maybe my human server DID make a mistake and that's okay but let's fix it. Nope! He was saying the same thing. The table next to us heard it all and was disgusted with their behavior as well. The "manager" was flip floppy. He would talk to the server and get just as frustrated as he was and take his side. Then he'd talk to my bf and dad and say he'd assist. Freddy then places the bill (with the unwanted dish still included) on our table. After many chats with the manager...my bf and his dad finally got the correct dish brought to our table. Also as discussed with the manager (after having to plead over and over again).....the random extra dish was removed from the bill....which was like pulling teeth just to get them to fix their mistake. Once that was over, we finally cleared that bad energy shift they placed on us and we began to try and talk normally again, overcome that awkwardness, and enjoy what time we could. We thought it was fixed and over. But, NOPE! The manager then comes out of no where minutes later, walking fast, interrupts our conversation, and rudely/strongly places the new updated bill on our table...but not without chastising us and angrily saying "this WAS your fault" before he speedily walked away. Like sir...what? So unnecessary. We were at a loss for words. Shocked. We were soooo uncomfortable and felt so disrespected in how they treated us. I almost didn't feel safe even eating the food after seeing how they behaved. The server acted as if he would be severelyyyyy punished for just admitting his mistake and turned into an angry "deny-deny-deny" person. Sir, it's okay people make mistakes sometimes. And you just happened to make one that day. It didn't have get so big, weird, and extremely rude. My bfs family were regulars over the years for many special occasions and business events here. I was happy to get in on it in the recent years...but, we won't be back and it won't be missed. I've never been somewhere that forces you to pay for something you didn't order and tries to force you to take it home with you too. I've also never been somewhere this rude. I 100% do not recommend this location. Go somewhere else where there's a better response between staff and customers, accountability, and general decency/ respect. You can go from having happy dinners/lunches there to being on the complete opposite side of things and treated poorly in a snap and ruining your time/event. Go somewhere that has consistency and professionalism, so you won't have to worry about them destroying what could've been a happy memory. With the amount you spend here, I know we'd all hope for a surely positive experience, not a gamble. It's good until it's not. read more

MANAGEMENT at The Armory knows there is a sound problem for guests booked in event rooms on the 3rd Floor. BEWARE!!!! I attended my 50 Year High School reunion on Saturday, 09/27/2025 at The Armory. Our event was in the "Piano Room" on the 3rd floor. The room and view were beautiful. The wait staff was very attentive. Our event was a buffet, and I know that usually means mediocre food. The food was plentiful, but it was not very good. Most of the choices were fried food. We had a charcuterie (antipasto & Cheese display) that was very small with limited choices, caprese salad, chicken wings and stuffed mushrooms stuffed with crab meat and the fish tasted old. The fried calamari was frozen and fried and looked awful. Mozarella sticks were eh...how can you make those bad. And there was also penne vodka (overcooked) and meatballs. One of the main course choices was Grilled salmon, which was not grilled, it looked as if it had been roasted in an oven and it was overcooked and dry. We also had chicken breast piccata (like rubber chicken), shredded Pork Roast referred to as Pernil (was mostly pork fat), Roast Beef Brisket, cheese tortellini Alfredo, chicken fingers, white rice, roasted potatoes, French fries, and American greens. The deserts were supposed to be flan, rice pudding, fresh fruit, tiramisu, chocolate fountain and ice cream station. I never saw the fruit or ice cream station. I did see marshmallows. The WORST part of the evening, started early and only ended at 11:00PM. On the evening of our reunion, The Armory had booked every room. The room below our event room is the largest room with a two story ceiling. The event below us had a DJ and a salsa band. The music was so LOUD, it impeded our conversations in the room above. The floor was vibrating for 5 hours. We went to management two times to request the band and dj turn down the sound, but it never happened. IT WAS INFURIATING. We were having a 50 year reunion, meeting up with friends we hadn't seen in many years, but our conversations were blasted out by the music from the floor below. I believe management of the Armory is aware of this "SOUND PROBLEM". We had prepared music for our event, but it could not be heard above the sound level from the music below. We made the best of a bad situation. he people below us did, but they made the choice to have music & DJ for 5 hours continuously. We did not, and we were not advised of the sound issues. The wait staff was apologetic and made sure that the doors were closed, but that didn't help. Management should never book an event in the Piano room (3rd floor), when they know the party on the second floor is planning for a DJ or live music. We paid the same price for the venue, as the party on the 2nd floor. Our event was ruined by their music. I would NEVER recommend this venue. I will never return. read more

Our criteria this month was seafood plus outdoor seating and the Armory was able to accommodate us two weeks out with reservations. For drinks, three of us shared a pitcher on mango sangria. While we shared a few appetizers. That being shrimp in Garlic sauce and calamari. Entrees certainly aren't cheap here. Unless you order off of the daily specials menu expect to pay about 40 or up each. But hey it's obvious you're paying more for water front dining. She had the bronzino and I chose paella valenciana. Both were very good. Expect to have leftovers for dinner. If I had to guess about 8 or 9 of us had a bag when leaving. Nice view of Tottenville (SI) and the harbor from your table. I came here for the 1st time on a Saturday about 6pm. I truly enjoyed myself. The ambiance and views at the restaurant are amazing. Although we had a 2 hour wait for a table the time actually went by quickly. We bought a small pitcher of the Hennessey Sangria which is very good. Packs a punch for sure. And that in itself kept us happy until we were seated. Service while it was a little slow, but was attentive at the same time. My dinner guest ordered the rodizio and I had garlic shrimp pot. Although some may say it's pricey I would not because the portions of food you get are worth the price. I had enough of leftovers for the next 3 days. I will definitely come back but earlier. I went fishing at the pier. Stopped off for lunch since the restaurant was PACKED at noon on a Sunday. Things are a bit pricey here, considering it is in Perth Amboy. The reason is that the serving sizes are enormous. Probably a two-person meal. I was alone. May consider ordering one appetizer and one entree when coming in pairs. I ordered pork, sausage, potatoes and clams. The dish was tasty. A lot of sauce. Some of the larger potato pieces were a bit tough. Am I guessing they were not precooked and thrown in an oven? This is a really nice place. I been here few time before yelp years It sits back from the Perth Amboy water front. There is out door seating in the good weather days. Today I enjoyed the chicken noodle soup and it was really good. Not salty at all. And followed it up with a shrimp salad. That was one of the freshest salad I've had the pleasure of enjoying. A pretty good restaurant in Jersey right by the water! The ambience is low-key and chill vibes, especially during the summer. I believe you can do street parking or park in the valet, which was $5. I knocked this place down a star because the service is rather slow. The food is amazing, but these guys have to bring it up a notch with service. We constantly had to waive our server down for more water, or whatever it was our table needed. I ordered the chilean sea bass and wow. It so so flaky and buttery. Not to mention, the portion was huge! My fiance got the paella and that was enough for 2-3 people as well! The sangria was a miss for us. I'm always near the Perth Amboy waterfront area but have never eaten at Seabra's. We went yesterday night and was seated immediately. On a nice summer day you'd be able to see all the marina views , but since it was a fall night the curtains were down. We ordered a small pitcher of the Mango sangria and it was STRONG, and I don't say that lightly. I usually like strong but wasn't expecting that so I actually had them add more juice and it tasted so much better after that. Bread and butter are complimentary served with a nice garlicky olive oil. We really liked them. For entree we ordered the fried shrimp with yellow rice. I'm giving Seabra's a 3 star review because although the food came out at a reasonable time my rice was cold and tasteless. The tartar sauce wasn't tasty, we didn't have salt and pepper shakers on the table. Our waiter was nice but aside from the delicious shrimp the food was a disappointment. The one thing I'll note is the hostess inside was very abrasive , and just came off as "inconveniencing" her when I asked a few questions. We got seated and ordered some apps. They were tasty and definitely a nice dish. The sausage and the shrimp. Next came the entrees, this is where it's good and bad.. I got the Paelha Valenciana. That was 38$ and it came packed with seafood and half a lobster. Lots of shellfish and meats. My big complaint were the scallops , they were incredibly bland and one tasted like it hadn't been seasoned. Huge amount of food you can TOTALLY share for two people. My friend ordered his 24 oz steak. It looked nice but I'm sorry that's not a 45$ steak. Which I get the waterfront but that price just isn't. I'm surprised that this place has only 3 stars on Yelp. The food was fantastic and super fresh. You can tell they took their time to prepare each and every individual meal. Be warned - we knew of this place as "the armory" so with 'seabra's it was hard for me to find reviews on this place. It seems like they have two places for you to dine. Outside or inside. I chose inside only because I knew it would most likely be chilly by the water at night. If you chose to sit outside - people seem to dress very casual and down. If you sat inside like we did, you see some people very dressed up and some in between. I was very confused. Upstairs seemed to be a banquet hall type space. There were people very dressed up going upstairs and there was a DJ. When in doubt, go for the in-between (dressy semi-casual) Let me start with the Chilean Sea Bass. Do yourself a favor and get it! It was super flaky and nice and light but the flavor was all there. It's $38 but it was definitely worth it. My husband got the surf and turf $39. He loved the lobster tail however his filet mignon was on the dry side. The rest of the table got to try their paella and the mariscada in green sauce. They also loved it. The paella can get a little heavy and salty if you have too much tho. All in all the food was great and the ambiance was also great. It's good for groups and def a hit for celebrations. The only complaint I would have for the restaurant is that the food can be slow. We came hungry and the wait was brutal. Thank goodness for the complimentary bread basket that they offer ! I suggest they should place an extra basket of bread if they see a large group and if they know our food will take long. We were originally going to the Portuguese manor which is no longer selling Portuguese food now just Latin food . So we pick up and try the armory . We were very pleased to learn this spot as good as my old spot . I had the twin lobster with the crab stuffing excellent!!!! My wife had the stuffed fish excellent and my daughter has the kids steak and fries . Very large portions and the bill was only 115 with tip for these means and drinks . On the top of it the receipt will ask you if you want to make additional tips. Two burgers cost $51.00 with little service. I never see it in NJ restaurants. ~Good service, Poor meals~ I have eaten at this restaurant twice thus far, and it has its pros and cons. On the positive, the dinner service was well done. The servers and bartenders were very friendly and attentive to me and my family. During my last visit, one waiter forgot to bring a beer for my father and another waiter brought more bread for the table when we said we didn't want anymore, but due to their kind-hearted nature, I couldn't possibly be upset with the tardiness and disorganization- though it is something to be cautious of. As for the food, it didn't really wow me. My favorite that I've tried is the Paelha Valenciana- the rice was perfectly seasoned and filling. I also tried the Calamari appetizer which is pretty chewy and it took me off guard since I'm used to eating crisper calamari and it's probably because of this that I prefer the latter. Despite this, I would order the calamari again, just a full plate for myself and not to share. My most recent meal from the restaurant was the Chicken Piccata with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables and that was disappointing. The chicken tasted fresh but also bland, like there was barely any seasoning on it besides the lemon sauce- which itself wasn't too delicious either. The mashed potatoes were very grainy and watery, like picking up wet sand. I prefer them to be creamier and fuller. Lastly, the steamed vegetables weren't horrible but nothing to rave about. If it weren't for the kind service and the friendly atmosphere, I would've given this restaurant a 2, but I believe there is potential to improve and I would try a meal there again. read more

We had to ask for ketchup and tartar sauce which took some time because the bartender wasn't paying much attention to us. One of our party had to actually get up and go to him. Now, come on, when you order fried fish and dishes served with french fries, shouldn't those condiments be standard? While the Sangria and appetizers were good, I was just a little disappointed in my meal. I really wasn't in the mood for seafood so I ordered the chicken with capers in the lemon sauce. It was ok. The sauce tasted like it was condensed soup out of a can but still ok. They give you a tiny side of a few veggies and about 6 potato chips. I would have liked rice but no one asked me. Everyone's meals looked good. 2 people got the appetizer scallops because they don't make a scallop meal. The fish was dry for one guest and he then ordered salmon which he loved. The clams in garlic were great. The broth was so good there wasn't enough bread to go around and you could have made a meal with that broth alone. Our waiter Alberto was terrific. It's not easy taking care of a party of 20+ people. I'll finish by saying it's a fairly pricey Resturant and there are a few in the area, otherwise you have to go to NEWARK for cheaper fair.
