The bleachers near the baseball field were typical of the other Redondo Beach parks...comfortable enough to sit on for a couple of hours. But no shade, so wear a hat and sunglasses. There was an enclosed senior center also. Didn't get to see inside, but it's a nice benefit for the residents.

This North Redondo Beach park has no sign with the park name that I could find…read more I always drive past it on my way to T J Maxx on Hawthorne.....see my review of the store for my secret short cut! haha Anyways.....I was out today in this crazy heat reviewing parks. It felt like about 90 at the beach, it's hot. But the park looked inviting with its beautiful shade trees. It's about an acre and a half, small, and has nothing but trees and grass, benches, a kids' playground, and restrooms. I like the old streetlamps, must be pretty at night. The kiddie play area has the oddest surface I've seen. It's squishy, like a thick sponge. I was unprepared when I stepped on it to take a photo and almost lost my balance. Seems like it would be a nice soft spot for a kid to fall. My pic of the sign tells more about it. This park is narrow, and runs for a block, through a residential 'hood. It's a nice cut-through for people heading to the plaza around Starbucks on 190th. And there were people enjoying the park today, even in the heat. A red-faced little boy was trying to reach the drinking fountain while his dad laid under a tree in the shade...... The posted sign got my attention, the sign that lists all the "don'ts" for the park: No dogs (true in every Redondo Beach park except the dog park). No bicycles. No ball playing. No skateboarding. No roller skates or roller blades. That's a lot of restrictions! If you come here, plan on just walking through and admiring the trees..... 10 photos are posted.

So this little park is tucked away in North Redondo. If you are riding your bike you can pick it up…read morenear the new North Redondo Bikeway. It's not a bad park. But unlike Valley Park or Veterans Park, for example, it's not a place to make a day of it. There's trees, grass, little benches, you can have a picnic there -maybe a reststop while you are out on a walk or a bike ride. But there's no barbecue pits and no open fires allowed. There's a little area with kid's things like a slide. And when I was there on a sunday afternoon there was a building that appeared to have restrooms but they were all locked up. It's got lots a shade, so like I said earlier, this isn't a bad place to have a picnic, just no barbecues or fires.

The Lawndale Parks & Recreation website states that the park is open until 8:00 p.m., or dusk, whichever comes first. Tonight's sunset is 7:15 p.m., so I figured they would close the park around 7:00 p.m. or so. My two year old and I walked about a mile to the park, arrived at 5:15 p.m., and found the park locked on 162nd. We figured it was probably open on the other side, so we walked into Hawthorne and around to 163rd, and found that it was also locked there, too. I called the city to find out what was happening with the hours, and they shared that new hours were being enforced where the park now closes at 5:00 p.m. That's great for nannies, but working parents will only have the option of using this park on the weekends. It's absolutely adorable! Wish we could have gone in!

Their climbing structures are great for bigger kids and they have cool features as well like a chalk board and cool climbing added as well. They have swings as well for the little ones and big kiddos. Their little house they have for the toddlers is great and so fun featuring a small slide. The only down fall to this park is there is no bathroom but overall it's a fun park to visit for sure! There are benches and nice grassy area to hang or have a snack.

They have a amazing fan that starts entertaining at 6 PM until the fireworks show starts. They have multiple food trucks with great food to experience and plenty of activities for the kids. There's two jumpers and you can play whatever sports you love in the grassy area. They also have a hill, and if you have a box, you can slide down it to your hearts joy.

There's a community garden here with free mulch. There's a basketball court as well. I noticed lots of folks doing tai chi here. I also noticed groups of nannies meeting up here with their kids. There's no sand, dirt or wood chips at the playground area. The bad: One of the four swings could've used WD40. It was very squeaky. There was a man on the bench by the playground alone with a book who looked to be video recording the playground. I wasn't sure if it was innocent and he was potentially just video chatting with someone and showing them where he was but I was suspicious that a man would come alone and choose a bench by the loud children's play area to read rather than sit at one of the many other benches further away for a quiet space to read. The interesting: There's plenty of street parking. The playground is flat.

Visited this park on a Thursday lunch time with my two dogs in tow…read more Parking is not free and you have to download the app to pay-per-hour. I found plenty of free street parking across the street and all around the neighborhood instead. After nearly getting hit by a car a few times and getting approached by an intoxicated looking homeless or two, we finally made it to the park. And then that's when we discovered that the place is NOT DOG FRIENDLY. Omg! At first, I thought I saw the signs wrong and had to actually go up close to it. I also witnessed a bunch of other dog owners walking around the park with their dogs but many had them not leashed. That's when it dawned on me why the park has a no dog allowed policy. It's honestly very infuriating when people are so blatantly disrespectful about park policies and other people's safety. Not to mention the dog shit everywhere that really shouldn't have been there. Ugh. And that was enough of LA County shenanigans for me that day.

The oceanfront Veterans Park is located at the corner of south catalina avenue and torrance…read moreboulevard, which features grass, trees, and playground. The community center, formerly the main library of Redondo beach, is currently unavailable and under construction. I always like the elevated ocean view, and found it's quite peaceful to walk around here.

This is a very basic, no frills park that's hard to find(I literally stumbled on it wandering…read morearound the area). The atmosphere is pleasant with families, kids, dogs playing and seniors strolling I subtract 2 stars for small size, lack of toilets, few amenities and hard to find. I would not make a special trip here but it gets the job done for the immediate neighborhood.
