It may have been a random fluke, however, my first experience was a disaster at best. After riding 2 stops on the 1 Line, we were all instructed to get off at Ranier Beach stop as there was some sort of police activity prohibiting us from riding further and we at this point were asked to cross the street and wait for a shuttle. About 10 min later, a shuttle arrived however not everyone could fit so this shuttle was jam packed with people! We were told that this shuttle would take us to the Columbia City station and from there, the 1 Line would resume. As it was traffic hour when this all happened, shuttle was slow moving, so probably another 20-30 min later, we arrived. A train was waiting for us and after that detour, the ride was smooth all the way to my destination. I made the mistake of getting off one stop before I intended, so that added another 10min to trip, completely my own stupid fault. So a trip from the airport that should have taken a little under an hour took close to 2 hours for me. Was an interesting experience and for $3, I really shouldn't complain. I also saved my company $100 but also wasted 90min on public transit. And time is money. I think this might have just been a little bad luck and a less frequent occurrence, but it definitely made me not want to take this form of transit ever again. They do get one star because when I mapped it out on Google maps, there was clear warning there was a delay and detour. It was just my poor choice to take a chance and see what happens. However, if the opportunity presents itself again and there were no issues with the Link light rail, I might consider this option again.

Seattle is a special place, green, surrounded by mountains and nature, an excellent food scene, and a place I once called home. It's from that perspective that I have to say: Seattle deserves a better airport. The airport is overdue for a major remodel, something along the lines of Portland's recent transformation. Maybe it's time to call in Seattle's own Olson Kundig. For a city with such a strong culinary identity, the airport food scene is surprisingly disappointing: uninspired, and overpriced. Outside of Beecher's Handmade Cheese, which wasn't near my gates, Starbucks was ironically the best Seattle option available. Beyond the food, the airport feels stuck in another era, complete with aging outlets, uncomfortable seating and worn floors. Portland and Hong Kong, which we recently visited, offer a better blueprint by bringing the city's best dining and local brands into an airport experience. Airports should feel like an extension of the citiy they serve, and Seattle's falls short. On a positive note: the light rail to and from the airport is an unquestionable win. It is efficient, affordable, and modern. Now the airport and its food and retail offerings just need to catch up.

It can take a few trains to get there, depending on where you are. You still have the ability to get some snack, use the restroom and such, but make sure you have what you need before getting on all the way to the terminal, because it takes a little longer to get there. It's a little ratty and seems a bit run down. Mostly standing room, like most terminals anymore, unfortunately.

And security, imo, is still not up to par on the link light rail system in general. This station is not really handy to anything by foot unless you live in one of the apartment buildings nearby but it is handy by car to many eating and shopping spots, or the dentist or whathaveyou. Of course in the reverse it's handy to everywhere if you set off from here. We use this station sometimes to take trips to downtown Seattle or the u-district.

After a gritty over crowded underground train ride the doors open and a mad rush of human waist head for the escalators. I'm included in that afterbirth of people but I'm special. I skip the shops and head for "THE LOUNGE"! Alaska Airlines has their premium lounge for people who pay to be pampered and of coarse I pay for that privilege... I enjoy the spectacular view of planes taking off while having unlimited tasty beverage ( sometimes alcohol ) and typically morning goodies. This refuge allows me to hide out from the scourge of humanity waiting for a plane to somewhere... Ok, there are plenty of dining and beverage places to wet your whistle including a Wendy's can you believe it... In fact grabbing a chili for my flight is a wonderful idea. It will keep the travel people away from me as I'll donate some of myTreblinka fumes into the ozone layer... Moving onto the shopping well many opportunity's to purchase candy or clothing and maybe even a silly souvenir of our local sports team. Enjoy your experience and have a wonderful flight! Date of visit: July 22, 2025…read more The concept of the different "pods" of gates to help control traffic (likely both people and planes!) is a nice one, but the biggest issue I have with it is that you are unable to walk everywhere you need to go and have to rely on the trams to get you where you need to be if you have a connecting flight. I wish all airports would let you stretch your legs and strut from one end of the terminals to the other, like Atlanta does. All that being said, SEA and the North Satellite Terminal are in overall good condition and the letter/numbering system is straightforward and easy to follow. Like most airports, stairs are an after-thought yet all of the escalators and aforementioned trams were in good condition.

Because we have oneworld status we were able to use the First Class checkin. Lines were long but given it was Memorial Day, understandable. Agents were friendly and helpful. Our original flight wasn't until 11:25a but there was an earlier flight at 8 that the checking agent was able to get us on. Because we switched flights, we couldn't get premium economy seats or be seated next to each other like we had for our earlier flight but we'd get home three hours sooner. So that was well worth the trade off. Alaska serves the tastiest Hazelnut Espresso Vodka and Five Farms Irish Cream Liquor. When you get both and add milk, it's a delicious cocktail. This is a metro (train) station at the SEATAC Airport. It's an 8-min walk within the confines of…read morethe airport. There are two golf cart drivers to help those who can't walk that far. The station is an open air station but fully covered. When we arrived there were two attendants helping people navigate the purchasing of train tickets. I was wearing my USAF Veteran hat this day and the attendant helping us was retired Army. We swapped a but of military banter, he let us know a few good places in Seattle to visit, and provided a 'special' reduced military fare on our tickets. Great customer service! The station was clean and the trains were on time, can't complain about that.

I opted to buy myself an Orca card and take this train to work at the Seatac airport for a week because the parking lot was going to be having some access issues due to construction and I didn't want to risk being late. This train system is a joke! First of all, if I opted to take this thing daily instead of driving myself to work, I would pay more in train fare than I ever pay for putting gas in my car. On top of that, you either end up waiting for a train to arrive up to 15 minutes or waiting on your train to leave again, up to 15 minutes or you plain miss your train because they only stop long enough to let the people on get off and the people who are already on the platform get on. One of the mornings when I got off work at 4:30 am, I rushed to catch the train that is supposed to show up at 4:44 am. As I was approaching the train station at 4:42, I watched as my train left the station 2 whole minutes before it was even supposed to arrive and I was stuck waiting 15 minutes for the next one. When I drive to and from work, I get home in about 40 minutes, but this waste of time takes me over an hour. So, in review, I did not save money. I did not save time, and I ended up stressed out and frustrated with their system. Unless you have to, I would not recommend using this train for anything other than getting to concerts and sporting events in downtown Seattle. That is the only time that this train has ever been worth the cost for my family.
