This station originally spanned Pine Street, but during renovations in 1988 it was moved to the inside of Westlake Center shopping mall. Which means you can access this via the mall or from street level. If you choose street level, be ready for climbing some stairs. Before coming here, I made sure to purchase an Orca card to make transitioning through the stations easier. The trains run frequently and steady. It wasn't long before I arrived at the station and the train arrived. Coming back to the station was much easier than I expected. I ended up exiting through the mall to cut some time off with traversing the streets. Plus it also let me avoid a hill outside.

To get to the platform, you have to take an elevator. There are no stairs or escalators. Which…read moremeans I hope you like small spaces. It's an odd way to build a station but here we are in the 2020s. There are only two platforms. One that goes south and one that goes north. After you exit the elevator, look up to see which way to go. Each platform is only maybe 100 yards from each other so it's not like you can choose wrong. Just hope your train isn't arriving if you do go the wrong way. It's a fairly busy station but slowly becoming less busy. With the amount of gentrification happening, youre seeing less and less BIPOCs here. There is a bus station outside of the station that can also take you downtown or towards Chinatown. Outside of the station is a coffee shop called "The Station" which I highly suggest. There's no ride and park area here. So you gotta either know the area to know where to park or maybe hop on at another stop.

Makes you feel like you really are entering a very special place. Like you are entering a place that is kept a secret. The station actually feels like a ride platform at an amusement park rather than for public transit. I mean, that makes sense, seeing how the same type of monorail was used at Disney. The novelty of this platform makes it feel almost like a movie set. Like the other end of this system. Trains run frequently and consistently. If you hit it between runs, you might have a longer wait, and the platform may feel up with more people. Once on the train, just sit back and enjoy the ride.

After our visit to the Space Needle, my partner and I took this 1.2-mile elevated train system and got off Westlake for our next attraction, Pike Public Market. It saved quite a bit of walking with one-way $4. It is an iconic, historic piece of Seattle and still serves to connect downtown with the Seattle Center 60+ years later.

Racists…read moresecurity guards and the bathrooms are very gross and I haven't used them but I never will either. My recommendation is to use the bathroom somewhere before you arrive there. Most of the patrons that use them bathrooms are the homeless and druggies to shoot up. They've got some security guards that do what their supposed to do and that is to walk the entire property daily during their shifts and some whom refused to talk and just stand around and talk to people and ignore others. I was there and have seen them and how they treat people. Other stations are much nicer then this one, also with nicer guards. If you can help it I'd try to catch the sounder at a different location.

It's nice to have an Othello Station because it's near some pretty awesome Vietnamese restaurants,…read morebut other than that, I can't really seem to find any other benefit to the Othello Station other than its location. Along the light rail route the Othello Station is on the path to Angle Lake Station and University Station. I do like that the Othello neighborhood has this station, making it convenient to use for those in the area. However, compared to other stations, this one lacks in features. I primarily noticed that with the smaller stations, such as this Othello one, it does not have an actual indoor space. The station is located in the middle of a busy road, where it's all outdoor. No indoor space...meaning, no bathroom, or an area to park and ride nearby, or talk to employees. It's simply a neighborhood station. To reiterate, location of this station is its draw, serving Othello residents. But there's not much to this station, compared to large ones that have public facilities that you'd find elsewhere.

I guess if you…read morewant to view the station from the park you can, but this quaint little park is really just a stopping point along the way for people taking advantage of this transit hub that features every major connecting service in King County. It really is all about location, and this one is not too far from some of the tougher streets that can often be covered in urine, vomit, and even blood. Humans can also do some pretty disgusting things in this park, but really, the pigeons are to blame for most of the carnage in the area. Not sure if this park is actually a field of battle for the birds or if there is a secret bird bar unbeknownst to us where they all get ripped and roll out into the park to make bad life choices. Either way, I'm saying maybe we should look into why there is so much violence and mayhem in this area. If you blink you will miss this park, but if you're waiting for transit, open your eyes. Life and death happens here.
