You could tell it was fresh, well seasoned, and prepared nicely. The restaurant, located upstairs in a building not too far from the port bus stop, was busy though it looked like mostly tourists. Ludvig's brings a touch of class and Mediterranean cuisine to the sleepy Alaskan town. Upon arriving the restaurant was only about half full, a counter style bar and traditional table seating downstairs and a nice enclosed upstairs area as well. My server greeted me and quickly brought me a coffee. She offered me drip or french press, I actually ended up trying both, with a noticeable increase in quality and flavor with the latter! The menu looks great, I was leaning toward the wonderful madame cristo but ended up going with a croissant Benedict after my servers suggestion, which may have been a mistake! The Benedict was reasonably tasty, the hollandaise was well prepared and tasty, but the eggs were definitely over cooked sadly, more soft boiled than poached. The potatoes on the side were very crispy, to the point I feel it was a mistake from sitting out, and lastly I found the croissant, which is traditionally a dainty thing to be massive and kind of too much to be honest. Overall I did like the dish, the thin sliced ham was delicious, but next time I'll definitely be having one cristo or another I should think. In conclusion I do recommend the place! There are precious few good restaurants in Sitka, and more to the point I was pleasantly surprised at the value as well. Come in and try!

She's got a ton of personality and is eager to get you the food and drink you desire! I should say: I am HEAVILY biased in this review. I showed up just to get a steak but ended up winning an official Tom Brady jersey. There was some sort of raffel going on, and they gave me tickets at the last minute...then I won. This is the first raffel I have ever won! I almost didn't believe it as it was happening! I'm not really into football but...I am from Tampa so I guess it evens out? I got a steak, and while it was a little spendy, it was LARGE and it was perfectly cooked to my specifications (rare)! The only bummer is that it pretty much came with nothing, except a salad. Just a plate with a steak (and a fancy cursive design noting the type of steak I got, the "Blanco"). To be fair Ramon was very quick to warn me that that would be the case, and offered up some sides, and I said no. Worth a stop if you're in Sitka. This is a hotel chain eatery that feels more like a local one.

It was not a large bar and there were at least two bar backs...anyway we thought we were gonna be waiting In this lounge until being seated wherever...but again, as I stated in my raven's review, we were put in a hotel lounge that was like a lounge in a hotel elevator area...like, literally...I have noticed that sitka realizes that most diners are tourists so they just don't care. I feel bad for residents not in the service industry.
