Access to the hotel from Lincoln Street is good but to get to it, you have to go through the restaurant or down an alley to the back of the building where the main hotel entrance is located. Sitka was once the capital of Alaska. There is lots to do & see.

We were on the second floor and experienced lots of noise from upstairs. Convenient washer/dryer combo at end of hall. Airport shuttle which helped us. There is a nice area to sit on benches to enjoy the outdoors with a view of the marina on one side and the hotel on the other. The hotel seems to feel like it is resting on the top of a hill so it has beautiful views of the waterway below. What really made the trip special was getting out on the ocean with a local guide that not only knew the ins and outs of the waterways but was also truly dedicated to his craft as a guide. Captain Dave is passionate about his home town of Sitka and an absolute wealth of information. On the way out of the harbor he fired off a plethora of awesome facts that rivaled anything Wikipedia might have to say about this majestic seaside port. Safety was always on his mind and that played a huge roll in our comfort considering we had a 5 and 7 year-old with us. At all times, including when we disembarked on a remote island for a quick hike, he was sure to let us know he had our back (he had a bear deterrent on the form of a shotgun). Dave also provided us with a killer breakfast and lunch which were both accompanied by spectacular views at unique locations on the water that were second to none. Bottom line, if you want to see AND learn about Sitka and it's wonderful culture/history/ecology then Captain Dave and his vessel the Esther are the premiere choice for anyone who wants to see the real deal Alaska!

Whether it's your first or tenth trip - Islandview covers everything with class and expertise. We also prefer fishing with our own poles versus taking turns with downriggers. Location is the best - staff is wonderful. Heading back again this summer - our group of six always rebook immediately. I have other friends that want to go but with the experience our group has - I am not sure we will ever have an opening! Great work Islandview Team!

I just have so many mixed feelings here…read more.. The good: Staff are friendly and accommodating! Location is incredible, walk to everything! Prices are fantastic. The not-so-good: - Room service is only once a week. This isn't really a huge deal for me, but this place is just not setup and organized around this idea. For example: I was staying for 9 days but I only got 3 pouches of coffee? So I had to go down to the counter and ask for more every 3 days? You should have supplies for your entire stay. - You get to choose which day room service will come. I chose Monday and then...Monday came and went and...they didn't come. I told the front desk, and they came on Tuesday and did a great job, but this was right before I left so I didn't get to bask in the pristineness of it all. - Pillows are horrible. They are WAY WAY WAY too plump. See my photos. They are almost like cubes of pillow. Just as fat as they are wide as they are long. They hurt my neck so bad that I slept without a pillow most nights. No, I am not exaggerating. I asked the front desk about this and they were eager to give me different or more pillows, but this doesn't solve the problem as all the pillows in the whole facility are the same chonker-shaped plumpboiz. (that sentence ain't gonna age well...) They need to get some slimmer/flatter pillows! All pillows in in the whole dang facility are carbon copies of each other, so this issue is unfixable. - Parking is overrun. If you're lucky there will be one spot left. If you're not, you're going to have to use street parking somewhere. - There was a steak in my fridge from the previous guest. - Wi-Fi is slow and constantly boots you off. It's the type that has a pop-up window that makes you type the password, rather than saving the password in your Wi-Fi settings. I sometimes had to reboot my computer multiple times to trick this pop-up window into coming up so that I could re-type the exact same password I had typed dozens of times before. If you need to get work done, go to the library. The Wi-Fi here is too spotty and obnoxious. If you like thick, springy, plump pillows, I can recommend this place without uh...reservation. If you don't, bring your own pillow. Seriously.

Justin knows the boat inside and out had all the gear ready, knew where to fish spent a good 10 hours out there. Will be back And his boss Niki was also very nice never met her, but I chatted with her many times via email.
