My husband and I took our first trip to Sitka in May 2021 to fish for king salmon and halibut. After many hours of research we chose to stay at Cascade Creek since it is a smaller lodge, is right on the water, has nice rooms and provides delicious meals. We are so glad we stayed at Cascade Creek! We caught our limits on king salmon and halibut each day (plus black rockfish). The owners of the lodge were very welcoming and accommodating, and the captain and deckhand on our fishing boat were great; they found the fish and were great at helping us land them on to the boat. The breakfasts and dinners at the lodge each day were very good, and it was nice to enjoy our meals overlooking the water and talking about our day on the water with the other guests. All of the other guests at the lodge were nice, friendly, and we enjoyed meeting people from all over the country. The lodge is in a great location, in walking distance to the grocery store and liquor store; it's actually a very beautiful walk along the water the entire time. The staff at the lodge were so helpful and gave us rides to and from town when needed, although we never had to leave on the days we fished since the lodge provided everything. We were very happy with our trip and are already planning on coming back to Cascade Creek in 2023!

    King Salmon!!

Cascade Lodge and Fishing Charter is magnificent. From the moment Courtney pick us up at the airport to the drop off with our fish waiting for us was excellent. Dr. Richard personally took his time to be with us and showed us around the top parks and rivers and let us experience fly fishing. He is one of the kindest, good hearted person I have ever met and that also goes for the entire family. The fishing was amazing. I caught King Salmon and many fish. The boat is new and Captain Tyler is an amazing Captain that knows where the fish are. I am so happy and had such a wonderful experience in Sitka with my son and grand son. Cascade Lodge and Charters is the absolute best.

Our tour guide Brett took us to the Fortess of the Bear, the Raptor Center and the Park. Amazing centers that support the wildlife is such a great spot to visit. We had plenty of time to watch the bears communicate with one another and the staff at the centers. I also love that there are items in the gift shop that support the sanctuary so purchase those and know your purchase supports the wildlife. The Raptor center has amazing eagles, owls and other birds that are in need of medical help. Absolutely amazing to see them up close. The park has so much history on the natives, totem poles, and beautiful artifacts to see up close. If you're in Sitka I highly recommend you take this tour.

From our Cruise ship, we boarded a local bus (no charge/complimentary) to take us to the Chamber of Commerce meeting destination for the Wildlife tour. Very easy to follow instructions ;) We boarded the cargo mini van and Brett, our tour guide for the excursion began our Sitka adventure! The tour included visits to the Alaska Raptor Center, Fortress of the Bear Sanctuary, and the Sitka National Historical Park, featuring the iconic totem poles. Each stop offered a unique glimpse into the natural beauty and cultural richness of this incredible region. The Bear Sanctuary, is the highlight of the tour. The sanctuary is dedicated to the rehabilitation and care of orphaned and injured bears. Seeing these magnificent creatures up close was awe-inspiring. Our final stop was the Sitka National Historical Park, renowned for its impressive collection of totem poles. Walking through the park felt like stepping back in time. The totem poles, each with its own story, stood as silent sentinels of the Tlingit people's rich heritage. The park's trails offered stunning views of the surrounding forest and coastline, making it a perfect blend of culture and nature. Overall, this wildlife tour in Sitka was a remarkable adventure. The combination of breathtaking wildlife encounters and cultural exploration made it a well-rounded experience. Whether you're a nature lover, a history buff, or simply seeking an enriching getaway, this tour is a must-do when visiting Sitka, Alaska. Highly recommended! The only negative, there should be an age restriction: Fellow Travelers brought their Toddler Girl, who cried the entire time, in and outside of the Van!. Super unpleasant and very hard to hear Brett speak about the sites!

This hostel has many positives: - friendly staff…read more- fantastic prices (mixed dorm is about 10 TIMES cheaper than a 2-star hotel in town) - solid WiFi - welcoming environment However, a few things keep it from 5-stars: - The hostel is closed from 10am-6pm. This makes logistics very cumbersome if you're traveling with heavy bags. You have to plan your whole day around what you wan to have access to. - The hostel is closed for the night at 11pm. Want to go for a night hike, get into town, and have a burger and a beer? Good luck. I had to run to get back to the hostel before the 11pm lockout. - Getting a reservation is more difficult than it should be. You can't do it on the web. You either have to do it via email or phone. I HIGHLY recommend doing it on the phone. - no real "common area": there's not really a central location to hang out with fellow hostelers. Yep, there are a lot of hoops to jump through if you want to stay here, I'd say they are largely worth jumping through, though.

The beds are comfortable, the place is clean and the best place to "get your feet wet" at a hostel if you've never stayed in one before. I tried others around Alaska and they were okay but this one was by far the best. Walking to the downtown area is a short distance. The hostel has wireless but if you don't have a computer the library will let you use theirs for up to an hour. Washer and dryers are available as well as a kitchen and breakfast room. Fortunately, I met people from around the world and we all became fast friends. There were some college age hostelers and many over 50. It was a great mix of people and backgrounds. This hostel does not allow drinking or smoking. There is a curfew of 11pm with a lockout during the day and you'll sign up for one chore. No big deal, it just helps them keep the cost down and the cleanliness level up. They are open year round. It was cleaner than the hotel I stayed in over in Ketchikan for a fraction of the price. If you're going to Alaska I highly suggest you make it a point to visit Sitka. If you wish to take the economy route, like I did, this hostel was a great "first" for me! I hope I'll be able to return again in the years ahead.

My husband has been on multiple fishing trips and said this one far exceeds any he has ever been on. Their attention to detail, customer service, and communication is outstanding. What impressed us the most was how hardworking the staff was. Our captain, Captain DJ, and deckhand Luke were some of the most hardworking people I have ever met. While on the boat, they consistently provided the best experience for us and ensured we had everything we needed for a great 3-days of fishing. I also want to say a big shout out to our hostess, Synneva, for all her help during our trip. She was beyond friendly, helpful, and professional from the moment we met her at the airport until the end of our trip - which appeared to be a common thread with all of the hostesses! Lastly, this company is beyond streamlined with logistics. From the day we arrived, I felt like we never had to wait. They were so on top of being on time - ensuring customers got to their destination quickly and promptly. At the end at the airport, when we were greeted by two young boys who packaged our fish, I still couldn't believe how friendly they greeted us and ensured we were all set to go to end our trip. The top-notch service never stopped! Overall, this was the best honeymoon we could have ever asked for (not to mention - we brought home SO much fresh fish!). Thank you to the whole team at Angling Unlimited for making this happen for us. I can say with 100% confidence we will be back - and hope to bring many more friends and family with us next time!

There are exceptions to every policy made. I feel like I've been loyal to them for eight plus years and they would not bend their policy to help me out! If they would have offered a 50% credit, I would have been happy with that. I am so disappointed in their response. I was told that because there was only 3 fishermen on our boat that they couldn't do anything for me, but I know within our group, which had a total of three boats that one of the boats had only 3 fishermen on it. A small company should be able to "bend" their policy for a returning loyal customer. Rick Granzella

Again, charged without any communication of these fees. Group of 2 treated considerably different than group of 12 on the trip. If you do not go fishing and stay at the lodge you will not be provided with lunch (and have no way to get food otherwise). The large group (a few people that stayed also) was provided lunch after group of 2 was told they would not get lunch because they stayed at the lodge instead of fishing that day. Also told new group was coming in early and we would have to be relocated to a hotel before our trip was over. This was very upsetting. As we paid for the entire stay prior to arrival. Paid over 3k per person, airfare and tip to boat captain, will not support this business again.
