Every aspect was outstanding from staff to meals to activities, not to mention the views the itinerary everything

We went on an eight day boat cruise from July 24th to August 1st 2025 on the Admiralty Dream for a tour called The Last Frontier. We got a 30% discount from the $15,000 list price by booking last minute on June 18th. Only 120 square foot rooms available and were the second most expensive rooms on the top deck of a three deck boat. ADC had a shuttle to pick us up at the airport, even when we arranged to arrive a day early, and stay a day in Sitka. Boat left from an anchorage right next to the downtown area. Our boat had 41 passengers in 2 person cabins with most cabins 96 or 110 square feet. These were the smallest rooms I've seen on boat cruises. There were no balcony cabins, with outside corridors running on the outside of each room . ADC provided wading boots, waterproof pants, and waterproof jacket. You needed the wading boots to travel from the ship to shore by zodiac boat when there were no docking facilities. You were left off in ankle deep water. Zodiac boat also for touring the islands and forests where the water was too shallow for the Admiralty Dream. People walking by could look through the windows into your room. There were curtains, but they didn't wrap around, so the corridor night lights shone through the edges, right into the eyes of me lying on the bed next to the window. Units on the bottom deck were 96 square feet in size with portholes and interior corridors. Boat built in 1979 and of antiquated design, although the sink and track lighting were new. Rooms had no drawers and no dressers and no locks on the sliding doors from the outside. We kept our valuables in our lockable luggage stored under the bed. Phone booth size shower with curtain next to toilet. After each shower we had to wipe the floor next to the toilet of water so that the next user of the toilet would not get their pants wet from the wet floor. Water from the sink had a light brown tone, and tasted like it was full of iron. At least they gave us a large water bottle. Continuous background noise from the ventilation motor running behind our third deck cabin. Highlights of our tour of the Alaska inlet area include the following. Hike to lake Eva's hidden Fall hatchery along with kayaking. Red bluff Bay bears. Tracy arm fjord glacier point Hugh Whales, William Henry Bay orcas. Orca point Lodge Juneau. Hike to coastal artillery, and kayaking. Glacier Bay Bartlett cove near glacier Bay national Park visitor center. Meals were served in dining room including breakfast lunch and dinner with multiple choices of each. Quality of the meals was generally very good although no food was available outside of regular dining hours. Salmon was the most served dish, with no crab served until we reached Orca point lodge. No cell phone coverage and no Wi-Fi for eight days. Would go again except that Alaskan dream cruises did not sail in 2026. read more

A trip of a lifetime! Alaskan Dream Cruises made my dream come true, thank you. We were looking for an inner passage cruise on a small vessel. ADC offered a number of options for length of cruise and cabin size and buying early we locked in good rates. There were no interior rooms, and there were less than 40 passengers! The crew was friendly, efficient, knowledgeable and willing to do whatever they could to address individual preferences. We saw several unique small towns including Pelican and Kake. The glacier and wildlife viewing was excellent. We had opportunities to get off the ship each day. The inner passage waterways were calm, so seasickness was not an issue. There were no strenuous activities, but there were opportunities to kayak and to hike. Most days were overcast with some rain in early June, so layers and rain gear were recommended. Food was plentiful and excellent-lots of fresh seafood , but always alternatives too. Passengers were mostly 55-70...retirees. When a glitch interrupted our scheduled journey, ADC went above and beyond! I highly recommend. read more

We did the Sitka to Juneau cruise on the Chichagof Dream (70-passenger vessel) from June 18 to June 23 2023, and it was absolutely fantastic! The crew went out of its way to find and follow the wildlife: whales, wolves, mountain goats, bears, eagles, sea lions... We had the luck of a perfect weather, with no rain at all, which we understand is outside the norm. Whatever the weather, the ship is great, the food very good and the crew extremely warm, welcoming, and fun to interact with. Kudos to Alaskan Dream Cruises. read more

We had a great trip! Nimble boat with excellent captain and crew. Service was amazing, we all felt so taken care of, and they did everything they could to make the trip memorable. The naturalists on board were very knowledgeable. Food was very good and we had attentive table service. We enjoyed our fellow travelers, had lots of laughs, and above all, we saw breathtaking wildlife and scenery. At one point we were in an area with about 20 humpback whales. Orcas, eagles, puffins, sea otters, seals, sea lions, mountain goats, black bear, and more. We got lucky with mostly sunny, mild weather. The trip could not have been more wonderful! The priority was to experience the Inside Passage of Alaskan water, wildlife, shore and vistas. The Captain and crew did all they could to make it happen! In addition, everyone, staff and guests alike, was friendly and enjoying the trip. Even the food and the service at our tables was beautifully done! Enjoyed the small cruise experience allowing us to go further into gorges and get off the boat to kayak and or hike in remote areas. We also got to see and learn about Native Alaskan culture from a local. The wildlife was exceptional. There was a huge group of Orcas that travelled alongside us for two hours and gave quite the show. Bears showed up for us on the last day. Smooth ride and excellent, plentiful food. My partner and I (two seniors) took the six-day (five night) North to True Alaska tour. We wanted a small-ship experience, and were happy with the Admiralty Dream, which has around 23 rooms. A couple of days we could do hikes in the morning; each hike offered three choices of pace to suit a person's preferred level of activity. There was also a kayaking opportunity. We saw glaciers. We saw a couple of bears, some seals, many sea lions, and a few whales. We had an enjoyable train ride in Skagway. The food was plentiful and delicious. The crew was cheerful and attentive. Wonderful time on this 36 passenger cruise with an attentive captain and crew. We were never rushed; always able to spend enough time enjoying the magnificent scenery or exploring the ports. Our tour director gave a presentation the night before describing what we might be seeing on the next hike or stop. Then once we were there, he would point out the native plants, birds, and animals. The locals we met in port talked about the history and culture that helped us understand how ancient and modern man interacted with this majestic territory. Cabins are adequate, and the food was OK. The catamaran was stable, dated but comfortable and most importantly able to maneuver closer to the action. read more

great trip, great staff, great spaces, fine food, fine itinerary. by the time i got home i had covid. i sent a group email to guests. half of them answered and almost all also had covid. a couple days earlier someone had a bad cold or perhaps worse but was not isolated. after i was sneezed on, i asked the crew about this and they responded that this was a personal issue that the guest needed to resolve without direction from the crew. seems to me that this was a personal issue for all guests and that the crew should have been more proactive. we don't know for sure how the covid got on board and was spread, but i felt that the company policy was totally negligent in being proactive re protecting its guests. read more

This cruise line was contracted by Road Scholar/Elderhostel for a 7-day trip to the inside passage. RS has never disappointed . . . and this trip was no different. The cruise ship -- The Admirality Dream -- was well staffed with wonderful people of all ages; and the on-board dining was to die for. On our 4th day, things started to fail. Nothing to do with the RS program -- everything to do with our accommodations -- top deck, the expensive room. We kept a daily diary, RS was contacted and extended some responsibility. We contacted ADC during and after the trip -- and got nothing. I wish they had reached out -- an acknowledgement? An apology? Anything? Nothing -- so here is the 'abridged' diary... be forewarned. We were six days into our Road Scholar vacation to Alaska, and five days into our boat tour on the Admiralty Dream when we noticed sewage odor emanating from our bathroom. We addressed the issue with M. our RS tour leader who led us to A. who was Alaskan Cruises assistant housekeeper. A. said she would speak to someone. That evening. we returned to the ship and saw R. -- assistant engineer. He had not been told anything and suggested we flush the drain. We returned to our room -- the odor was much stronger. No evidence that anyone had visited our room to address the problem. We took our showers and opened our window to air out the room before closing it at bedtime. B. awoke at 1:30 with a piercing headache and the stench of sewer. Thursday morning, we spoke to Captain G. R who stated he would look into it. Later that day when we had not heard back, we met M. as well as S. (housekeeping boss lady) and shared our dilemma. S. visited the room and assured us it would be taken care of while we were ashore. Five hours later, we returned to a room to find a rubber disc covering the drain and our window wide open. We closed it, left the room and looked for S. She said that chemicals had been used and R. had opened the window and the issue was resolved. We very firmly requested that she go to our room and see if she wanted to sleep in it. We don't know if she did, but she never followed up with us - never asked how things were, never checked to see if the problem had been resolved. It had NOT! We made it clear that opening a window was not a fix, but a coverup. The room was cold and extremely odorous. Their comments? We were asked what 'we' [ RS or AC] needed to do to make us happy -- R. offered the excuse that this boat is 40 years old. Making this go away and making us happy is not the job of the guests on board! R. replaced the drain grate with a large plug hoping that a tighter seal would help. We left the window opened wide all night....our bathroom and the whole room reeks of sewage. Friday morning the smell is far worse than any outhouse! After going ashore for a bit, we returned and asked Cap'n G.R. to join us in our cabin. He was busy. We saw him about 90 minutes later and asked again....he said someone would be there to check it during lunch. They wax sealed the base of the toilet. G.R. stated he had talked with his home office and they were contacting Road Scholar. Our last night, we sleep in a very cold room looking very much forward to getting off this tug of sewage. Saturday morning the stench in the bathroom makes us both gag and we resort to the mid-level public restroom. We haven't had a shower for over three days. We pack up as quickly as possible and use the public bathroom the remainder of our time on the boat. The room? Tenekee. . . stay away. In fact, stay off the boat. Other guests in cabins on the top floor had begun to smell urine the last two days. And while we kept our story to ourselves and the staff -- it was getting around. I really wish we didn't have to speak out here. I really wish ADC had reached out to us. read more

Well, just saw a 1 star review for this company. Can't imagine why. Just got back on the 10th of July after an amazing 7 day cruise. We spent the 6 nights in Lisianski suite with Janette as our steward. Great care was taken for our requests and had a clean cabin the entire trip. We were treated to kayaking, hiking, zodiacs & tasty food. The chance to take a 'left turn' and see what others can't, priceless. I am sure some issues around the pandemic could have influenced the review, but not sorry I could go. Naturalist & photographer were very helpful. Thanks Emily & Nico! So, wasn't buyer beware. Be VERY WARY of this crowd, while their FAQs say they have a strong Covid policy, this is not the case. Our cruise of early July 2022 ended with 27 of 44 passengers ill with Covid. I have a very comprimised immune system and I was gravely ill. Speaking with other passengers, they had observed the sick passangers boarding, saying it was obvious they were ill. Less than 48 hours out we had to return to port and meet an ambulance to take these folks to hospital, they were THAT sick!!! This group is very ill-managed, they only care about separating you from your $$$$. When I asked if there was compensation available, as I lost 5 days of my 7 day cruise isolated in my cabin due to their Covid protocol, the response I got was "no", nothing else, not even a 'thanks for letting us disappoint you.' Small ship cruising is the way to go, just not with these clowns. read more

If you want great food, accommodating staff, and to see all the wildlife and glaciers up close, then this is for you. The accommodations are "intimate" but the captain changed course and we sat in a channel for 90 minutes watching humpback whales swim by and nest feed for 90 minutes. read more

Everything about exceeded our expectations - the comfort of our cabin, the amazing meals, the off-boat activities, information about wildlife and indigenous culture, the friendly, knowledgable, helpful crew. Buyer Beware! We were scheduled for a cruise in July 2021 but Alaska Dream Cruises canceled it in June. From that point on, Alaska Dream Cruises treated us with callous disregard. They offered a cruise a few weeks later on a lesser cruise with very poor accommodations....near the motors on the back of the boat, despite the fact that we had paid for a second deck stateroom on the second deck, near the front of the boat. We would have lost money on this cruise as it was one day less of travel with poor accommodations. Fortunately Uncruise offered us a top deck stateroom on a cruise that was longer and at a $6000 concession of fees. We are looking forward to cruising got with them as they went out of their way to find us a cruise for less money with superior accommodations, exceeding what Alaskan Dream Cruise management were willing to do! WARNING: this review is not for children, pregnant women or those with bad knees. I am so amped to be writing this review I have no idea what sort of bone-bending G-forces it will be giving off so, you know: fair warning. If you blended up Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, Shane Warne, Babe Ruth and Black Caviar into some kind of hero-filled super smoothie (maybe with a little wheatgrass and protein powder, depends what you're into) it still wouldn't be as EPIC to the power of RADICAL as the holidays Alaskan Dream Cruises bang on. When booking an 8-day cruise overseas you never really know what you're in for until you set foot on the boat, and I was plagued by preconceived notions of a giant, soulless cruise liner bristling with watery cocktails, sleazy lounge singers and legions of shapeless retirees in bucket hats and adventure sandals. What I got blew my tiny mind on every level a tiny mind can be blown: morally, metaphysically, allegorically and of course sexually. These guys have nailed the perfect storm: The ideal 3-level boat, intimate yet large enough that it never felt claustrophobic. Actually, it was sort of like an extension of your family home: forward lounge with bar, dining room, top viewing deck, and cray cray cozy cabins. The right number of people: 30-40, max. After a week with these guys we were such fast friends it was really sad to say farewell each other and traipse off back to our respective parts of the world. A killer itinerary: stunning wildlife, waterfalls, glaciers, jet boat rides, ATV-ing, Zeegos, kayaks, trail walks, cultural performances, totem poles, old growth forests and about a billion other things, each bigger, badder and better than the last. And some serious A-class cuisine. This was the biggest surprise of the lot, the food was just SENSATIONAL. We're talking a different kind of fresh seafood every day, four courses for each meal, a pastry chef on board, and custom meals if you wished it. And man do they keep you well fed. Even though there's a bar they still fix you up withg a complimentary glass of wine with each dinner. We all walked off that boat with spare tires around our waists. Rich! Gluttonous! Indulgent! And worth every damned calorie. The glue that brought all these disparate elements together was the crew. I just cannot speak highly enough of these guys. In fact, I think I might love them. All of them. Unconditionally, the way a dog loves it's master. Is that creepy? I don't care if it is. Some special shout-outs: Captain Eric, master and commander of the Alaskan Dream. This guy . . . yow. He went out of his way to make everyone feel comfortable with the type of laconic, humorous, friendly style anyone in a service industry should envy frantically. Nothing was too much trouble. He took a couple of teenage kids ATV-ing after hours one evening just to give them a thrill. Didn't have to. Didn't make a big deal of it. But he gave them something they'll talk about for years. Invited every passenger to join him in the captain's cabin to chat, hold the wheel, hang out, look at charts and machines, whatever. Brianna the chef: amazing value, one of those characters that make the boat a fun place to be. Put out a giant bowl of chocolate mousse one night with a $5 reward for whoever ate it. With no utensils. Just their face. We went fishing one day and caught halibut and pink, silver and chum salmon and Brianna quietly turned them into 5 different super gourmet seafood dishes including the most delicious spicy ceviche I've eaten outside of Ecuador. Just don't play her at cards. Fastest hands in the west. Larisa & Emily, the activity guides who know, well, everything about everything flora and fauna and gave daily presentations on crazy Alaskan stuff. Easy with a laugh and loads of fun to hang out and shoot the shit with, and always up for an off-the-itinerary hike or play. And Jess, the most entertaining deckhand in the history of the profession. Sang to us in the buffet line, quick with a joke or to light up your smoke, there's no place he'd rather be. Interacting with someone who has such joy and dedication for his work is quite simply a pleasure to behold. Random stuff I got a mad fat kick out of: seeing whales breach right in front of us, watching gigantic glaciers calve, seals lazing on sapphire-blue icebergs, otters floating on their backs cracking open clams with rocks,brown bears, more bald eagles than you can point a Nikon at, late night card sessions with the crew, island excursion to the last remaining whale house in North America, monstrous king crab legs, smoked salmon bloody marys, guh, I could go on. There were no down sides. None. It was all killer no filler, so well planned and executed. So, yeah, this review sort of turned into a paean, I know that. But this company CRUSHES it, they really do. My main goal on this trip was to photograph as much wild life as I possibly could. I was not disappointed. The Alaska Dream and it captain Eric were able to maneuver the vessel in areas inaccessible to the large cruise ships. The top deck of the ship has 300 degrees of unobstructed views and some overhead covering, protecting you from the rain. Do dress for colder conditions than the weather forecast, as the ships movement imparts its own wind chill effect. Often, I was the only passenger on this deck dressed warmly enough to enjoy the spectacular views. Our cabin while small, was fully functional and the bed very comfortable. There was plenty of room to store our luggage and my massive amounts of photo gear. The Showerlet was OK too. The food was an acceptable 3 stars. I did not expect to be dining in a 5 star restaurant ever day. The fish, which was always an option, was mostly on the dry side. Each meal had a variety of selections and I think they try to cover everyone's needs. We understood that a naturalist and a cultural guide would be on board and give a lecture each day. The naturalist, Alex gave a couple of lectures and was available to lead shore excursions, but quite frankly we found her to be immature and annoying. The cultural guide gave one poor quality lecture (according to my wife) and was never heard from again. We were able to kayak once and I wish we could have more often. The passengers were a mix of mostly US, UK, AU, NZ home base. 90% are retired and many shared really wonderful stores of their life and travels. My husband and I are independent travelers in early 40s, and we spend out vacations hiking, biking, and exploring beautiful places on our own. We are most definitely *not* cruise people. In fact, the idea of spending our vacation with a few thousands of people in a floating equivalent of Times Square is simply horrifying. However, to see Alaska, you need to get on a cruise or on a small plane, as only a tenth of the state is accessible via roads. And we wanted to see Alaska. We have chosen the Alaskan Dream Cruises (ADC) as we liked their small ships, itineraries, strong focus on the wildlife and Native culture, and the fact that the company was own and operated by an old-time Alaskan family. We liked the layout of their Alaskan Dream catamaran the most, so we decided to splurge on their Owner's Suite and joined the ADC for their "Alaska's Inside Passage Sojourn" in early May 2019. It was their first cruise of the 2019 season. We loved every single minute of our trip. The scenery and wildlife were breathtaking, there are simply not enough words in English language the describe the beauty of Southeast Alaska, and how intimate we became with it. The crew was fantastic, enthusiastic, friendly, and going an extra mile to make out trip even more special. We spent our days kayaking, SUPing (Captain Eric generously shared his personal SUP!), hiking, visiting small towns and Native villages, enjoying the phenomenal scenery, and playing board games. Captain Eric was terrific in finding wildlife and adapting out itinerary so that we could enjoy it as much as we could. And no, there was no tv, no wifi, no casino, and we wouldn't have it any other way. It was truly an amazing trip. 10/10! read more

The "non-adventure" adventure cruise. We were on the Admiralty Dream boat, Last Frontier cruise. If you are seeking activity and/or adventure, do not book the Last Frontier Adventure with Alaskan Dream Cruises. I am writing this review on behalf of my group of 6, but there were others on our 44 passenger cruise that felt the same way. For starters, the company describes this cruise as designed for "guests seeking a higher level of activity". We were on the boat 8 days and were allowed to engage in approximately 8 hours TOTAL of off boat activities. Averaging about 1 hour per day. about 4 of those 8 hours met expectations as described in the company brochure. The other 4 hours included being dropped off on a beach to walk around looking for shells, walking a 1/8 - 1/4 mile flat trail near an old fish cannery, being taken to a presentation of children doing Norwegian folk dancing, and kayaking in a nondescript bay (We were not allowed to kayak in any glacial fjords as described on the website. We were told it was too dangerous even though we repeatedly saw other people doing it and we did it ourselves with an outfitter during our stay after the cruise ). Equipment (kayaks and life jackets) were in poor condition (missing parts). There were no activities on the boat other than board games, cards, and a couple of short presentations made by inexperienced expedition leaders. So all of those additional hours were spent sitting around the lounge, eating, and waiting for the next "activity". While the staff were very nice, the company online brochure says the cruise is led by experienced expedition leaders. ALL of ours graduated from college 2 months before our cruise and none were from Alaska. The company said they compensated for this by including 3 inexperienced ELs instead of the standard 2 experienced ELs. WHAT? The itinerary says you will experience the wonders of Frederick Sound. Our boat traveled through Frederick Sound at night while we were sleeping. Margerie Glacier in Glacier Bay National Park is on the itinerary. We did not go there and were told it was because the staff had already seen it. We were taken to a different glacier as a result. WHAT? Our captain had never sailed in Alaska before this summer. Staff were fired while we were on board. New staff that had never worked on a boat before were picked up. I am only providing a few brief examples of the failure of this trip to meet the expectations outlined in the company's online brochure. I could provide day-by-day examples but the review would get too long. To summarize, do not book with this company. We are not folks that would generally enjoy a larger cruise ship experience. That is why we booked with Alaskan Dream Cruises. However, you would have many many more opportunities for activities and adventure if you just went on a larger cruise ship and booked shore excursions when in port. By the time we left this boat, we were sore from sitting around for 8 days. We went straight to Mendenhall Glacier Park to hike and work out the kinks! We spent an additional 2 weeks in the Inside Passage post cruise. It was wonderful! We booked excursions with outfitters to whale watch, fish, kayak in glacial fjords, observe bears in natural habitats, etc.... and all were amazing. I would recommend going this route rather than a cruise with this company purporting to provide adventure and activity. If this is their "adventure" cruise", I would be troubled to know what their regular "non-adventure" cruise is like! read more
