This fishing lodge and guide service is state of the art, friendly, and so well-run you won't believe it. Comfortable lodging, amazing dinners and meals, and great fishing. I've been around a lot of charters and fish off my own ocean boat at home and I was not prepared for just how incredible this experience was.

Ok this whole operation will leave you coming back for more. Chuck and Jeanette make sure that you are like family there. Typical day looks like this: wake up about 4 and make breakfast for your crew. This is the only meal you will make. You then get on one of the boats, with Braiden, Sean, or Nils and start catching salmon. The skippers do all of the prep work with the gear, bait you up, gaffe the the fish. All you have to do is catch fish! Once you get your limit, it's off to find halibut. Nils is especially good at finding big halibut! Depending on how you did, you get back to the lodge between 2-4 o'clock. You also have boxed lunches prepare for you. Dinner is usually something that you just caught, like the halibut nuggets we had one night. So delicious. They prepare, serve and clean up after. Seriously gourmet meals. Our group took home about 150 lbs each. I'm on the runway right bow and can't wait to get back here! Thanks Kingfisher!

This charter company isn't the run of the mill type of business. It's a boutique charter company that prides itself in customer service. From the moment you step off the plane in Sitka until the day you leave, you are treated with the best customer service imaginable. The Captains at AU are all seasoned Captains. Each fishing group is assigned a hostess to make sure your needs are met. You have a car to use to sightsee, shop or go to dinner after a full day of fishing. The rooms have kitchens and porches have BBQ'S. There's not much, if anything, that they don't provide for you. I was transported to the hospital emergency room. I passed out at the airport, therefore I did not make the trip. I was diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation. This would have been my 9th trip with Angling Unlimited. I have been a loyal returning customer. When I called to see if I could get a credit towards next year I was told that "it is not,our policy". There are exceptions to every policy made. I feel like I've been loyal to them for eight plus years and they would not bend their policy to help me out! If they would have offered a 50% credit, I would have been happy with that. I am so disappointed in their response. I was told that because there was only 3 fishermen on our boat that they couldn't do anything for me, but I know within our group, which had a total of three boats that one of the boats had only 3 fishermen on it. A small company should be able to "bend" their policy for a returning loyal customer. Rick Granzella

Captain Jack and deckhand Jack are definitely our go-to's now. The captain makes a MEAN sandwich for everyone lunch on the boat for lunch. The dock isn't too distant from the lodge, so you don't need to wake up early and roll out of bed. You can have breakfast and come back to life from the prior evening's shenanigans. The Jack duo was entertaining, energetic, knowledgeable, personable and great to fish with whether you're a beginner, intermediate or more advanced. The chef at the lodge, Luke, creates great cuisines for everyone each night, or the hosts can take you on a quick drive to town for an evening out and will pick you up when you're ready. Pro tip: Bring a seasick patch (Scopolamine). I'm normally sea-sensitive, but between the patch and Nate's boatmanship, I had no problems whatsoever.

Our lodging was more than comfortable with the added bonus of a fantastic view that gets even better when the sun sets. She even bakes cookies and crumbles for you to eat on the boat. The fishing turned out to be catching on our trip. Captain Tyler, who is the Kraft's son, is second to none in Sitka. I truly believe we boated more fish in the four days of fishing than any other charter. He expertly put us on the fish every day even when the conditions were rough, and the conditions were pretty rough the last two days. We even limited out on silvers (36) and halibut (6) on the second day by 1:00. We all went home with 92 pounds of salmon and halibut filets. Then there is Caleb our deckhand. Caleb does everything from baiting lines to netting fish to cleaning the catch and making awesome sandwiches made to order. We are very grateful to meet such a fine hardworking young man. I highly recommend this family run Inn/charter to everyone. You absolutely cannot go wrong and you will have an enjoyable experience.

Even though I live in Alaska and really didn't know what to expect and rarely go on tours, not sure why now. I met Kenyatta, the captain/tour leader at the dock and after a safety talk we headed out. We traveled for about 45 minutes across the Bay to where he has his crab pots in the water, we were blessed with a beautiful day. The whole way across he pointed out landmarks and had stories about each one. He knew so much about the culture and history of the area, it was fascinating. Upon reaching the buoys marking the pots he maneuvered the boat in a special way to allow him to gather the line safely, the whole time explaining what he was doing and why. We pulled five pots during the trip and he explained the whole process. Each pot had a different batch of crabs, some were mostly females, some mostly males, (I can sex crabs now). He explained why this might have been and why placement is important. One pot had over 25 huge crabs and all males (the only ones crabbers can keep). We reset all the pots with bait and headed back to the dock. I brought my binoculars on the trip and saw lots of wildlife, including a whale. The tour was great, the boat was large and very stable, I never felt queasy. Kenyatta is very knowledgeable and has a great personality adding to an overall fun afternoon.
