I am very disappointed in their response to why I missed my fishing trip. I was at the airport on my way to Sitka when I had a medical emergency. I was transported to the hospital emergency room. I passed out at the airport, therefore I did not make the trip. I was diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation. This would have been my 9th trip with Angling Unlimited. I have been a loyal returning customer. When I called to see if I could get a credit towards next year I was told that "it is not,our policy". There are exceptions to every policy made. I feel like I've been loyal to them for eight plus years and they would not bend their policy to help me out! If they would have offered a 50% credit, I would have been happy with that. I am so disappointed in their response. I was told that because there was only 3 fishermen on our boat that they couldn't do anything for me, but I know within our group, which had a total of three boats that one of the boats had only 3 fishermen on it. This charter company isn't the run of the mill type of business. It's a boutique charter company that prides itself in customer service. From the moment you step off the plane in Sitka until the day you leave, you are treated with the best customer service imaginable. The Captains at AU are all seasoned Captains. Each fishing group is assigned a hostess to make sure your needs are met. You have a car to use to sightsee, shop or go to dinner after a full day of fishing. The rooms have kitchens and porches have BBQ'S. There's not much, if anything, that they don't provide for you. My husband and I went on a fishing trip through Angling Unlimited for our honeymoon and we were so impressed by this company - we cannot say enough great things! My husband has been on multiple fishing trips and said this one far exceeds any he has ever been on. Their attention to detail, customer service, and communication is outstanding. What impressed us the most was how hardworking the staff was. Our captain, Captain DJ, and deckhand Luke were some of the most hardworking people I have ever met. While on the boat, they consistently provided the best experience for us and ensured we had everything we needed for a great 3-days of fishing. I also want to say a big shout out to our hostess, Synneva, for all her help during our trip. She was beyond friendly, helpful, and professional from the moment we met her at the airport until the end of our trip - which appeared to be a common thread with all of the hostesses! Lastly, this company is beyond streamlined with logistics. From the day we arrived, I felt like we never had to wait. They were so on top of being on time - ensuring customers got to their destination quickly and promptly. At the end at the airport, when we were greeted by two young boys who packaged our fish, I still couldn't believe how friendly they greeted us and ensured we were all set to go to end our trip. The top-notch service never stopped! Overall, this was the best honeymoon we could have ever asked for (not to mention - we brought home SO much fresh fish!). First trip to Sitka, AK. Angling Unlimited had come highly recommended by a friend and we were not disappointed. We did a three day fishing package in June targeting king salmon, halibut, rock fish and ling cod with great success. AU is a top notch operation with impressive customer service. I was there with Sam, my mother's husband and a good friend. After retiring from a hospital pharmacy manager job in Roanoke, VA, Sam traveled Alaska extensively working as a travel pharmacist. He'd been telling me Alaska fishing stories for many years and when I retired last year we decided to put this trip together. I wholeheartedly recommend AU not just for great Alaska fishing but because of the people who work there. I can't say enough good things about Angling Unlimited. It was, for me, a once in a lifetime fishing experience. Not having had any previous experience I was able to catch King and Silver Salmon, Halibut, and Rockfish. The tackle, bait, and location were all perfect as was the instruction. Afterward, the catch was cleaned, frozen, and 30 pounds of delicious wild caught Alaskan fish shopped back to us in NC.Couldn't have been easier. Very first fish was a good sized King Salmon which battled deep for a quite a while. I would have been happy to leave it at that but our excellent captain, Sarah, kept us hauling in fat, acrobatic Silver Salmon plus large Rockfish and Halibut. Our boat, The Shearwater, surely had karma, which made me feel safe and sound even when the conditions became a little uncomfortable the second day. I went as a fisherman and came home an angler. The team at Angling Unlimited have this business on lock! From the arrangements and accommodations and the epic fishing I don't know why anybody would go anywhere else. Our personal team Spencer and Aaron were awesome to work with! My line was always freshly baited and tangle free and I was killing the Salmon, Halibut, rockfish and Cod. These guys have this fishing trip down and it shows. You are picked up from the airport, given an "apartment" at their lodge (full kitchen and living room), they provide a car, they provide you all types of breakfast options to make in the morning, they take you to the boats (dock is about a mile down from the lodge), you fish all day, they take care of all tangles/bait or tackle issues, they filet your fish, package it, store it, bring you back to the lodge and then at the end of your trip they take you to the airport and when you arrive at the airport your fish are already packaged and boxed up waiting for you. It is literally Fish, Eat, Sleep...Repeat for your entire trip. This was my first time to Alaska so maybe there are lots of other companies that also do this as well but I cannot imagine other companies provide this level of service at their price and most importantly...Catch the size and number of fish we caught. We would pull up to one spot drop anchor and 8 hours later (never leaving that spot) with 4 people fishing on the boat would limit out on Silvers (6 per person/day) Kings (1pp/day) Huge Halibut (1pp/day) and an assortment of rockfish and Cod's. How can you beat that? At one point I was losing fish because my arms were so sore from catching so many fish that I couldnt reel fast enough and would lose fish (I have never had such a good problem). My dad and I booked a 3 day fishing trip with Angling Unlimited starting on July 22, 2020. The process began with corresponding with Kim who was extremely helpful and promptly responded to all my questions--since this was our first time fishing in Sitka we had A LOT of questions. Honestly, her quick and informative responses is what made me go with Angling Unlimited over a couple of the other outfitters I inquired with. My Husband and his dad wanted to come with us to Alaska but didn't want to go on the ocean (they are very prone to seasickness) but Kim was great accommodating them at the lodge with us as "non-fishers." We were also very grateful that Kim and Carly got us all set up with the at-home COVID tests. They were super easy to take and we got our results back within 24 hours which made our trip go very smoothly. Once we arrived in Sitka, Ellie our hostess was waiting for us at the airport and took us right to the lodge. Our room (Suite 5) was spacious, clean and comfortable for all four of us. Now, for the actual fishing. WOW!!!!!! I can't say enough great things about our Captain, Tom and Deckhand, Tyler. I have fished quite a bit but this was my first multi-day trip on the ocean. Tom and Tyler gave me some great pointers and were patient until I got the hang of it. As a newbie and the only girl on the boat I was so appreciative of them making me feel comfortable. Tom was extremely experienced and sure knew were to to find the fish. He was also great at keeping us all safe on the last day when we experienced some pretty rough seas! Tyler was one of the hardest working guys I have ever met--always ready to refresh our bait, net our fish and make us some delicious sandwiches. I honestly lost count of how many fish I caught but I got my limit of Kings over the course of the three days, halibut and rock fish were plentiful and we completely slayed the Silvers on the last day. We had calm seas and beautiful weather on our trip. We also checked out a couple restaurants in town for dinner and were happy. Deffinatly want to do this again. Just returned from an amazing experience with Angling Unlimited. The fishing was awesome with Captain Spencer and his deckhand Tom providing an excellent experience. It was a lot of fun fishing with those guys over four days. Spencer really put us on the fish and we were able to target multiple species (salmon, halibut and rockfish). The boat and equipment were top notch and you cannot beat the setting of beautiful Sitka. Everyone that we interacted with while at Angling Unlimited were really nice, professional and hardworking. They handle all the details from lodging, airport pickup/drop off and fish processing. Having the use of a car is nice to run into town for dinner or supplies. My dad and I just finished our second trip with Angling Unlimited, our first was six years ago in 2009. Both trips were amazing, great crew, hospitality and the fish is unreal. Sitka is unique in salmon fishing as you catch king salmon at their prime, "brights" as they are sometimes called because of the bright silver color, they are the best tasting King/Chinook salmon you will ever eat. I'd highly recommend Angling Unlimited, they are a great outfit and will treat you to a once in a lifetime fishing experience, like me, you'll probably have to make it back again two make it at least twice in a lifetime. read more

I just returned (with nearly 200 lbs of fish fillets for me and my husband) from a three-day trip with Angling Unlimited with my family, and had the time of my life. Our captain, D.J., made sure that we got amazing fish -- as soon as the hits slowed down at any one spot, he figured out a new one where we could continue to haul in silvers and halibut, and he took great care of us. And I can't say enough great things about our deckhand, Cara; she worked her butt off the whole time and was unfailingly nice and funny, even after the umpty-millionth time I needed help with something basic. And all of the hostesses who took care of us on land were fantastic; Kenzie was assigned to our room, and she made sure that we had absolutely everything that we needed. In general, I would recommend Angling Unlimited to anyone who wants to focus on doing some great fishing, because the company takes care of everything else. read more

Fished July 31 through August 2, 2016. Great time. Lodging was clean, comfortable and roomy. Went with three friends, and share a two bedroom suite, two bathrooms, plus a kitchen with full cooking equipment. Fishing was good, and our skipper Spencer and crewmate Tom did an excellent job if giving us the best opportunity to catch salmon, halibut, and yelloweye rockfish. Service was great as always. Just came back from a trip with Angling Unlimited and again the experience was fantastic !! I started fishing in Alaska about 20 years ago with AU and other saltwater and freshwater outfits. Then took a seven year hiatus ($$ concerns) and then decided to go back to Alaska. I remembered having great times when I fished with AU so I decided to give them a call in 2014 and got lucky to get some spots in July. This is now my third straight year fishing with AU and I will never give up my dates. These guys and gals do a fantastic job from picking your group up at the airport to getting you settled into their apartments and then putting you in the best position to catch fish. The captains and deckhands with AU are friendly, helpful and have tons of fishing knowledge, especially Capt. James and deckhand Jack who I have fished with the last few years. The gals do a great job of shuttling you to and from the dock (a short 2 minute trip) to making cookies, muffins, cleaning your room every day and lots of other stuff. They were even kind enough to do some laundry for a couple of us (some rooms have W/D). AU provides a great Alaska fishing experience and you will not be disappointed if you are lucky enough to be able to book a trip.
