We have been guests…read moreat The Tides for several years and always found the rentals to be well kept, a positive reflection of the individual owners of the condominium units. This was not at all the case on our most recent visit. Upon entry to the room we were greeted by a very strong musty odor, and stained wall-to-wall carpeting. We immediately told our children they were not to walk barefoot through the unit, not knowing what they might be stepping on. The general condition of the apartment was poor. Walls, doors and switches (especially in the bathroom) were filthy. At best the bathroom might compare to one you might find in a cheap motel. There was pubic hair and other matter on the floor. My wife and I cleaned the bathroom floor ourselves with supplies we had to purchase at the local grocery store. We also purchased plug-in air fresheners in an attempt to mask the odor of the unit. It's hard to believe this disaster of living quarters could be in such close proximity to the beautiful beaches of Cape May. We used the room only when we had to, avoiding it morning through night. In summary, the condition of room 403 is the equivalent of a fraternity house. The owner obviously doesn't care about her guests, rather collecting a $3,000 check from weekly renters without being bothered. Now for The Tides. A staff member admitted the room was "disgusting", but there is nothing they can do about it other than passing the information along to the owner. They do however advertise the room on their website, so I am challenging The Tides to do the right thing. In addition to the photos posted on their website, I would like to see the photos I took for this Yelp review added to the website for room 403. In all fairness, vacationers who have saved several thousand dollars to visit beautiful Cape May should know what they are spending their money on and not be deceived. In my opinion, if The Tides doesn't step up and let potential guests know the true condition of their rooms, they are just as unethical as the owner of room 403.

    We recently stayed at Ocean Place condos in Wildwood Crest, NJ. The entire facility is top-notch…read moreand newly-renovated: refreshing lobby, business room, gym, and large, round pool/hot tub patio area. All common areas and hallways have been freshly-painted and papered, complete with new carpet, lighting, and wall murals. The location is across the street from the beach, with a small gazebo park with paved path on the way. Views of both the ocean and bay can easily be seen from the complex. We rented Unit #301, a true gem, with 2BR/2BTH. With upgrades throughout, the granite-enhanced, well-equipped kitchen was a joy to work in; the double slider doors led to a generous balcony for dining; and bedding and furniture were crisply-clean and new. Finally, a word about our rental agent Diane Brannen: she is a great find in this era of indifferent and spotty service. This lady is a true professional, from the moment she waved her manicured hands to open the entrance gate, through my many (!) questions about the area, until our final check-out. It is comforting to know that she is a pleasant and guiding presence in the building, able to expertly handle any issue. There is also a security guard on the premises at all times. We hope to make this our new vacation spot at the Jersey Shore: immaculately clean, convenient, and well-serviced! Note: We rented through the Chris Henderson Realty Agency, and the experience was seamless. Strangely, they do not accept credit cards for deposits or payments.

    We rented a unit the week of 8/12. When we got to the house the AC on the third floor, where all of…read morethe bedrooms were located, was not working. We immediately contacted the real estate. Justin came by and told us to wait, the AC worked perfectly fine and needed time to cool. The other floors were cooled down pretty quickly, but the third floor had no indication of cooling or any air ventilation. Despite, we remained patient and waited. We ended up not having any AC on the third floor that night and then again the next day. The following day was Sunday and the real estate was closed but thank goodness for RJ, the realtor I worked with who managed to get an hvac guy out to us. RJ is the only reason I am even giving one star. Then we wanted to use the pool and needed a key. Pool is part of the complex and is included in rental fee as per the website. All other renters had a key except us. When I called the real estate they told me they don't have a key and to ask our neighbors and go to hardware store to duplicate!!!! Imagine that!! Also when we came to the property there were layers of dust and trash under the beds. At check-out, when I gave the key back and told Justin all our concerns, instead of apologizing, he was arguing with me in a rude and unprofessional manner. Justin doesn't know what customer service is. If he is not the owner of this real estate then I would hope the owner rethinks having him there as the face of the real estate. Overall, terrible person to deal with.
