And this extreme hot weather that we've been having, I decided that we needed to get air conditioning. So I set out to get four quotes. Three out of the four heating and air conditioning companies responded with quotes. SDAC gave me an option of three different quotes, based on my preferences. When the technician came out to give me the quote, he was very considerate and explained everything to me in detail. He answered all my questions and was very willing to work with me on what kind of a system that I needed and wanted. Once I determined that I wanted to go with SDAC, it was very easy to schedule a time when they would come out and install the system within the next week. The installers were set to come out at 9 o'clock but they didn't arrive until 10:40 am that morning although I did get a phone call to indicate that they would be on their way. Once they were here, however, they set to work very quickly and by the end of the day, I had air conditioning. They worked quickly and efficiently and I don't think they even stopped to take a break. The work area was cleaned up after they finished. Since I wasn't at home when they finished, they gave my husband instructions on how to use the thermostat and download the app on his Apple iPhone. The next day I got a phone call asking me if things were OK and how did the my first night of having air conditioning go And I was able to tell him that it was a great experience, and I slept very well. I did have questions about downloading the app on my phone and how my husband's app would connect with the thermostat but my husband and I were able to figure that out pretty easily even without looking at the instructions. My AC leaked out and initial techs 'suggested replacement' because that is what they do. Then one wanted to 'refill' but not repair. I read that was called 'fill and go' and often requires returns because you just keep leaking out to atmosphere. Another informed me that my older refrigerant was more expensive and being phased out, adding this and future expenses. Ultimately I got a few unit replacement quotes, which varied by over 100% (lowest to highest), it's unreal (I didn't go lowest or highest). I had an emergency repair I needed to have done on a Saturday. My thermostat was not getting power. I called a bunch of places to get someone out to my home. Had SDGE come in for annual furnace check up and was advised that furnace had a bad spark igniter. Called Gorgis AC and Heating who sent out tech. Big red flag when HVAC tech asks you how do you turn on the furnace? Tech also added the problem could be this or that and that this and that may have to be replaced. Anyway, tech didn't have part and left. Called back days later asking if I wanted it installed. I declined. Called SDAC who sent out HVAC tech Art who was able to get furnace started and showed me and explained to me that igniter was good. Best thing, he didn't even charge me. A day later, furnace later started a loud humming noise. Art came back out and immediately found transformer was culprit and replaced it for $327.
