Great coffee, short wait times and the pizza is amazing. Came here twice and high suggest it

Went here for a coffebreake with something sweet with it. I had what looked like a pistage cake tasted ok. What drags down the grades is the lousy servers attitude i have met this arrogant attitude before. But it is really not pleasant a specially when you are forced to pay extra no matter where you sit (inside or outside). There's many subtile rules on what is OK or should i rather say what is expected from you as a turist. Like when you stand next to counter waiting for someone to take your order the staff send you to the tables for more waiting. It's not easy being a tourist when the patiens is so low. At a touristic place we had a short snack. The service was bad. Taking our order while doing other things is a recipe for failure, so indeed a cappucino was delivered instead of the ordered tea. The tea was quite expensive 7 euro. Furthermore cleaning the table with his own bare hands. So recommended if you are a tourist and need to take a pee, otherwise as a tourist avoid, there are better places for service which we absolutely experience in florence. read more

We had a coffee, cappuccino and macchiato and 4 pastries and the bill was 34 euro! I thought they made a mistake because the prices on the bill was not what was written on the pastries when we ordered from the window and they said this is the service fee. So they showed us the prices which was hidden on the corner eg price for a coffee non seated was 1.1 euro but if you sit on the table is 4 Euro. So almost like 400% service charge !! I should mention that the quality of the drinks and the pastries were really below average too. Horrible horrible place, avoid it . read more

The biscotti cookies really caught my eyes in the window and even though I knew it was a tourist spot, I still bought a little treat to go. Four cookies the length of my pinkie finger cost 2 Euros. Bit pricey, but it was the perfect little snack. Got the orange flavor and the almond flavor. Would get them again - crunchy on the first bite and a bit chewy after that. read more

Located in Piazza di San Giovanni, it is a reasonable sized venue on the corner which will give you excellent views of the square, the Duomo, and all of the people walking by. We mainly visited for the coffees in the morning, which were really good. I noticed several of the reviews on Yelp indicated the staff was not very helpful, but that was not our experience. They were very nice and courteous. We did not try the food or the deserts so cannot comment on them. Our coffees were good!. read more

An OK cafeteria in a 5 star location. This place is located at Piazza del Duomo, just steps away from the Battistero di San Giovanni. It offers indoor and outdoor seating with an unobstructed view of the west gate and cathedral. This is by far it's best attribute. Scudieri is mostly known as a place to have a coffee and a sweet, maybe a snack, but it also offers a sit down menu. We stayed for lunch (who can beat such views?) but in general our experience wasn't a good one. Servers are overwhelmed by the ridiculous number of tourists that go in to shelter from the weather (being heat in the summer or cold in the winter) and order beverage/sweet to enjoy while standing. This translates into herds of customers, lousy service and poor attitude servers. The salad I ordered was VERY poor, no one that goes to Scudieri should ever order a salad! The pizza was good, your on the safe side by ordering one of these. In general, food quality is good, although nothing we ordered was beyond ok. You must pay 50 cents € to go into the bathroom, this made it uncomfortable and seem cheap, although they were definitely clean. read more

Had a coffee/pastry craving while visiting Piazza del Duomo on very early Sunday morning and saw this spot open. Was a little unclear on how to purchase food here but was redirected to the cashier to pay first then go to the pastry person or barista to order your items. My wife and I got cappuccinos and shared a sugared donut and a chocolate eclair. The cappuccino was really good and this place had the best eclair I have tasted. It was firm and soft with smooth cold chocolate cream. Went back later that night to get another eclair and they were all out. Get a chocolate eclair there if you get a chance. Enjoy! read more

Sadly to say, I will not come back here anymore, although they serve great cappucino and chocolate flan (and these are what the stars for!). But the service was really really bad! We came in but noone was ushering us to a table, despite some waiting time. So, we took a seat. Then the waiter came and move us because that table was reserved, without any "reserved" card! When taking our order, he didn't pay attention and was busy cleaning the other table. And true enough he brought us the wrong order! Likely touristy, but I liked the pastries and the coffee was wonderful. Nice to stand up at the coffee bar and enjoy a quick Italian breakfast. The pastries are cheap and worth it in my opinion. read more

rude baristas do NOT like Americans. Ordered caffe Latte 3 times they look at me as deer in headlights. Beware tourists! The bakery caught out eye so we decided to go inside. The food was mediocre and overpriced. The lady serving was rude (talking at us rudely, taking menus out of our hands, etc.) and when we ask for some parmesan, a gentlemen, who was not our waiter, said he would help us but he didn't. This place was a giant disappointment. The servers were incredibly rude and slow as hell. I know, it's Italy, and they have a laid back demeanor which I've come to understand. My favorite coffee and pastry venue in Florence. Made it a priority to visit everyday and sometimes twice. Try the small cream doughnuts.

This was one of those experiences that you feel like you have been tricked big time ! First me and my grandpa went inside and looked at the food that was in the table and then we decided a "Brioche"(1.20€ in the table) And a "Panino"(3.50€ in the table) After we sit down and waited for the orange juice and Tea (A normal English Breakfast Tea). We waited 15-20 minutes for hot water, a tea bag and a glass of orange juice. Then I started to get impatient and walked in to ask about the drinks. They had forgot about them and went on it, that's okey but then when the drinks came, I went again to the "bar" and was going to get another Panino. I asked "what's inside this panino, then the lady just grabbed some panino, put it on the grill and started to serve someone else. I was like "okey, I'm just going to eat this panino and don't be the guy who is complaining. Already there, I did not want to come back... Then we ask for the check, they brought it and it was 37 euros ! For a breakfast .. A Brioche got up to 3€ (1.20€), the panino got up to 5€ (3,50€), on glass orange juice costed 10€( I don't know how much it would cost inside, I didn't check but 10€ for a glass of orange juice is insane and then we had to pay 7€ for one cup of tea (I neither checked the original price for the Tea, but from my knowledge while I've been living here, a cup of tea doesn't cost for then 2-3€. After, I was in quite a shock and asked the waiter why and the reason was "for the service and that we sat outside"... first of all the waiter just put us outside and told us nothing about the price getting higher by 100-400% (a cup of coffee inside costs 1€ but outside 4€ by sitting outside + the service was not good. I live here and my grandpa is visiting and he pays so it was not the money, it was the disrespect for the costumer.. All the time I have lived here I have never gone to a place in Florence who end up being so dishonest .. Well, well... where should I start? Maybe by mentioning how awful service they have. I honestly gave a star because I had no choice to give none. The waiting is forever, the staff is very rude not to say they seemed racist to me, but that is just a perception my husband And I got. After waiting for 20 minutes we had to leave because obviously nobody came to our table. We approached the supposed "manager" to let him know what happened and all he gave was excuses. Anyway, things like what we saw does not happen in America, thank God! Looks like here in Italy the concept of "the customer is always right" does not exist. Of course, we left and bought the exact same thing somewhere else. Loved the aperitovo. We sat, loved the view and interiors, and had nice servers. The young bartenders were a bit haughty (the way callow shop people are in Manhattan boutiques), but the rest of the staff were nice. The Americano and Negroni cocktails were well made, and I loved the accompanying aperitovo snacks. read more

Terrible staff. We got a cut strawberry cups for kids, and one of them had a rotten strawberry with fungus topped with a small spider at the very bottom!! When my husband asked the server and the manager they literally laughed on his face and did not accept their mistake. There was a heated argument and the server even came out to instigate my husband to a fight. He was yelling with all the people staring to see what's going on. And finally when we said we will put this up on review on Yelp the manager who earlier was a part to the whole game came over and said that he apologizes on behalf of his staff. Rude staff. I came here with my aunt and the server woman behind the counter got annoyed and shooed us away and said we had to pay first at the other counter. After we paid, I walked back to the same server woman. There were two types of fruit tarts and I wanted to tell the server woman that my aunt wanted the strawberry one, but she roughly pulled the receipt out of my hands and badmouthed me in Italian (her body language and grumpy face were obvious and I could hear her rapidly mutter in Italian including the words "Mama Mia yada yada yada" as she grabbed the receipt out of my hands). I didn't know that the store didn't give forks with "to-go" orders, so I changed it to eating there and she roughly pulled the pastries out and threw our plates to us. Condescending treatment totally took our appetites away. Pastries were mediocre anyway. The flip side is that this restaurant was so bad I remembered it for the rest of my time in Firenze and used it as a point of reference to find my way around the city. LOL. Oh, sitting costs extra money (as usual in Italy) so they make you stand at the bar and eat. But there's barely any room to stand because the bar is short. read more
