Walking down the beautiful streets of Florence and passed another gelato shop. This is just to good to pass up and has been my kryptonite on our trip to Italy. Corona's Cafe has a cool vibe like an old time pharmacy shop with great woodwork, glass displays and professionally lit. We were quickly waited on at Corona's Cafe and had to make another selection and a sample of all the flavors is not a valid choice. Living on the edge and feeling dangerous today, I chose amarena cherry. This was a punch in the mouth with great deep flavor and chunks of cherries embedded inside. Corona's Cafe has a very good selection and deep taste profiles of their flavors. The amareno cherry is spectacular. Do yourself a favor and stop here for some intensly flavored gelato flavors. read more

The gelato here is so-so. You only get to try one flavor before ordering, so you basically pick the one you want and get a taste test to confirm it's edible. It is not for you to try their selection. Another gelato place nearby offers two tastings. I don't think it's much better, but that is probably just how things are done around here. The bf got strawberry. It was a good place to sit for a bit and take a breather. They only have two small round bar tables surrounded by about five bar stools. It's definitely a cozy spot. I liked the decor. read more

I went here to get a coffee for myself and my friends. Coffees should usually cost around 1.50 to 3 euros in Italy unless it's a tourist trap or the cafe is located around tourist attractions. Here coffee cost 3.50 each for a small. We ordered cappuccinos and lattes. The coffees were served at room temperature heat and were weak. Mine tasted like a cold glass of milk. Definitely not something you want after being up since 6am in 4 degrees temperature. Also no chocolate powder was added to my cappucino. Hmmm. I had been making coffee in my rental airBNB using ground Italian coffee in Rome and that tastes 100 times better. I hope not all cappucinos in Italy are weak and tepid. read more

I have gotten away from my first gelato rating test...I typically try the pistachio and cafe from any new gelateria before I try other flavors because it helps me compare on my hunt for the best gelateria in Firenze (the world...muahhhhh). This trip, I did try the pistachio, which was not my favorite but never tried the cafe. I will return, as this place is very near to my home (thought it was too touristy before, so we avoided at all cost...oops). The fruit flavors were very good, some a little too sweet, but others were very good alone. I loved the cocco & mojito. The lampone was very good but would need to be paired with a lighter flavor, as it was very strong. The cheesecake was very good! I tasted someone else's chocolate...yum! I will return and try the cafe gelato next and maybe try a cappuccino one morning. I didn't take note on prices, but if it is more that $2.50 for a small...I think I'd walk farther for gelato elsewhere. I am a big fan of the gelato here. I am sure if this place was located in Amsterdam that I would be fat by now. The ice cream is so delicious here, it made me want to come back each day for more. Warning the servings are large, so maybe it would be smart to grab a cone an hour before or after you eat lunch, because it can be quiet fulling.Their pistachio flavor is very popular, so if your not allergic to nuts, then try out that flavor first. I must have tried half of the flavors in this ice cream parlor, it became a little too much for me by the end of the trip.Thank God for all the walking, because I was able to walk most of the calories off. read more

I actually liked coming here for the gelato. I was walking through the streets of Florence in the late afternoon, enjoying the scenery, and decided to get some gelato on a whim. They have a good selection of flavours, I remember getting several opportunities to sample a few flavours. I settled for getting this vanilla base flavour mixed with some cookie inside. It was cool, creamy, soft, and not icy. That's what I would call an almost perfectly great gelato. I thought the price was probably not cheap, but kind of high. My estimate is expect to pay €4 for a small size. I thought the ladies that worked at this place were nice, helpful, and they can actually speak English. The uniforms they wore were cool, they look like traditional flight attendants, or officers with the Italian military. Interior looked kind of cool, as if you are walking into an old and traditional French cafe. This place is at a great location, and probably on a major street, since I saw a lot of tourists and local Italians. It is really close to the Piazza della Signoria, which is where the famous Galleria degli Uffizi, probably Florence's finest art gallery, is located. Overall, this is a good choice for gelato, but due to its location, you may have to pay possibly a higher price compared to other places that the local Italians may go. read more

It only took us 10 days basically our last day in Florence to find this gem of a place. Their macchiato was by far the best we had while visiting. Do not get distracted by all the small tarts on your left side and the gelato on your right - NO... make your way straight to the bar and let one of the coolest bartenders make you an original. I stopped in really quickly after a day walking the city. I just grabbed a salami sandwich on Foccacia and a cookie. The sandwich was pretty decent but the bread was a little stale - presumably because it sat out in the display all day. I can't say much about this place as we just ran in for a quick gelato and I didn't get to compare it against much else in the area- It was located quite central to the shopping area - we were looking for a quick treat before hitting the road and the outside of this place with the gelato all visible from the street really pulled us in. I'd recommend the raspberry and fro-yo together if you do go - the raspberry really gives a nice kick to whatever more mellow flavour you may be eating alongside it. The price was okay - from earlier reviews it seems it was a bit steep compared to other places we could have gone - about 8 euros for 2 - 2 flavour gelatos - Coming from London things always appear to be cheaper-ish but next time we will prob try out a different recommendation rather than popping here again read more

Delicious cappuccino and goodies for breakfast. We tried ham and cheese sandwiches and some sweet treats recommended by the lady. The layout got confusing very quickly since you have to take your piece of paper, from the lady who gave your bakery items, to the bar to order your coffee and then to another register to pay for everything. All while a large group arrived and we were trying to find a standing space. Probably much easier with locals, who mainly get a coffee for breakfast. Lastly will go back, but there are so many wonderful bakeries in the city! :) read more

This cafe with an attractive storefront caught our eye the first night we walked around Florence, so we made a point to try it out. Best decision ever! Their gelato and cappuccinos are good. The real winners are their desserts. So many tarts and cookies to choose from! We tried the Nutella tart in semolina pastry. I don't even have words to describe it. Everything was perfect! The crust was light and chewy which balanced really well with the rich Nutella. Topped with some nuts and sitting on a bed something undetectable but so tasty I really didn't care to interrupt my eating to ask what it was made of. Suffice it to say, it was amazing! Their gelato is the best in Florence (IMHO), and I've tried a lot of gelato in Florence! The cafe offers traditional Italian coffee and pastries plus panini. The line for gelato is typically out the door regardless of the time of day, a good sign. The workers are friendly and speak English. Corona's.. i would not recommend trying the pastries, as I once ordered a cornetto and was only slightly satiated. It was dry and quite bland. Towards gelato however, it is one of my favourites :) I ADORE the baccio flavour, tastes very natural and delicious and creamy, and the mentha flavour tastes quite natural as well, given most mint gelatos taste of artificial flavourings. One of the most expensive in the city, and you can definitely find better for cheaper (venchi) but nice :) read more

I must have passed by this gelateria a thousand times. I never stopped in to try it because it seemed too touristy. So now I feel silly for passing it by so many times because it was so good. I tried 4 different flavors: mojito, watermelon, mint chocolate and dark chcolate. My favorite is the mint chocolate called "after eight". It was the best mint chocolate that I have tried so far here in florence. The mojito was really good too. I wasnt a fan of the watermelon because it was way too sweet. The staff was really sweet and helpful and very generous. Watch out for big crouds, but if you can sneak in during a quiet moment to try a few of their many flavors you won't be disappointed! read more

When in Firenze, this is my morning stop for a cappuccino and dolce. True, it is a little more expensive, but not by much. I like how they serve a small glass of mineral water with my espresso drinks. It's VERY busy during the morning when people stop for a coffee on their way to work.
