Stopped by for some dessert after dinner at around 9:30 PM on a Thursday. The fior di latte flavor I wanted was sold out so I ended up getting cherry vanilla and black sesame. The cherry was just okay but I really enjoyed the black sesame. Hubby had pistachio and a strawberry cheesecake, and I liked the pistachio. There aren't many flavors to choose from, which is one of the signs of a good gelato place. While the gelato itself was good, the flavors didn't really appeal to me so I kind of just settled on those two. So if you want to try the flor di latte, seems you need to go way earlier than I did. read more

This is My Sugar... You're going to absolutely love it. Hidden amongst the shops in Florence, it's a tiny little place that serves a really big flavor. The shopkeeper was super nice, and chatted with us for a few moments before we looked up and realize that people came from out of nowhere, and we're starting to form a line outside and down the street. Not a site that's unusual for Perfect Artisanal gelato. This is probably the best lemon gelato that I've ever had. The flavor is perfection. It was tangy, sweet, and combined with the fresh strawberry gelato, it was almost like a perfect strawberry lemonade in a cup. The gelato is made in the house, and when she is sold out, she's sold out for the day. This location has won numerous awards, and even has a Yelp recognition! They are reasonably priced, and there's absolutely no seating inside. Definitely add this location to your gelato tour. It's a place you definitely do not want to miss! read more

We tried nocciola, dark chocolate, crema fiorentina and riccota with raspberry. All of them were flavorful and not too sweet. We went around dinner time 8pm on a Friday, there wasn't a line. One of the best gelatos I've had in all of Italy, a must try! Food/Drink: I got the mint and basil flavor with their special cheese flavor. The two mixed together was light and heavenly, it didn't have that heavy creamy taste that often comes with more traditional flavors of gelato. I couldn't get enough of it! Price: Priced similarly as all other gelato shops in the area, 2.50 euro for a small that can have 2 flavors and starting at 3 euros for the next size etc. Atmosphere: Very casual stand with no tables inside, only a few chairs inside and outside of the place which is okay since you're supposed to take your gelato to go anyways! I like fruity flavors so I sampled the mango and mixed berry, delicious! I really like the mango, it taste like real fresh mangos - not artificial flavors. Place is cash only. Crema was really good. Which helped because the salted caramel was very strong. Ended up having to mix the two ti make the salted caramel bearable. The best gelato in Florence. We tried the top rated 4-5 gelaterias in town and this one was without a doubt the best. We enjoyed the Ricotta and Pear, Pistacchio, Tiramisu, and Cheesecake. All the flavors were delicate, the texture of the gelato just right, and service was friendly and efficient. I finally made it over to this new gelateria in town upon the recommendation of friends who know the owners. I am pleased to be able to say that the young gelato maker, Alberto, makes some really yummy flavours. I tend to like fruit flavours, but often they can turn out too icy due to the high water content. He makes various creamy fruit flavours, though he said he also does sherbets when he has the right ingredients. What I like best is that it is all natural and truly artisan gelato - Alberto told me me makes his own fruit extracts from what he can find in season. I tried the fig gelato made from organic figs from his uncle's tree, and it was amazing. I balanced this out with a creamy grapefruit flavour which has a bit of acidity needed to cut the figgy sweetness. I also tried the orange cream which was excellent, though the orange flavour is not super strong - apparently because oranges aren't in season. I look forward to tasting his future experiments! read more

My favorite new gelateria in Florence and in the buzzing San Lorenzo district of Florence where it seems that a new place is popping up every two seconds. Owned by two very passionate people (sister and brother team), they have put their heart and soul into this little place which shows in their customer service. A simple place with only 16 flavors (which is a good thing), Alberto goes to the market every morning to pick up fruit and goods for the day's flavors. The standout stars for me were the 'bronte' pistachio flavor and the amarena (cherry and cream). I am huge believer in supporting small businesses that are true 'made in Italy' foodie artisans which is why I want to showcase the fact that this isn't some 'I sell frozen gelato' like grom. They also offer frozen yogurt which is my fiance Nico's favorite with a variety of yummy toppings, I definitely will try more of that the the next time we visit.
