It's not just about getting certified, they really want you to learn the skills you will need to be a safe diver. ALSO, seeing the kiddos bounce in and out after swim class is just about the cutest thing in the world. I had a chance to watch two of the kids classes and the swim instructors are SO friendly with the kids, and celebrate their successes. Buy local! Support Tom's Dive and Swim by buying goods in the store.

We have gone here for almost 2 years and I used to rave about it to everyone for kids swim classes. All the good teachers quit. Over the last couple of months, my kids were able to practice in a tiny portion of the pool, because they were trying to squeeze in as many kids in there as possible. A total joke and waste of money and time. They asked us to be patient, and we really were! Kept on coming because we figured, it's Tom's, we love them.... Only to cancel our private class all together and prioritize group classes. After canceling our lessons due to lack of staffing, they refuse to refund us. We have a credit but no available times that works for our schedule.

Reveille Peak Ranch - Camping at the ranch

Beautiful place! We had a great time here and cant wait to be back! The trails are fun and…read moredefinitely challenging at some points. The trails were a blend of rocks and sand. But you can not beat the AMAZING views! The camp ground was very well maintained with men and women's bathrooms, which happen to be one of the cleanest and nicest bathrooms I've seen for a campground! I mean, they have flushing toilets, showers, QUAILTY toilet paper, sinks, hand soap, and paper towels! We had an amazing weekend biking, camping, grilling, swimming and paddle boarding. We didn't see as many campers as we thought we would, but did run into a few other who were very nice. We camped next to the lake and didn't have any issues with mosquitos or any other bugs, but beware, the ants are HUGE!!!! Since this is a ranch, there are cows roaming around and when there are cows, there are cow patties! So be mindful of that. They didn't seem to mind us riding past them. Also, be aware that there could be snakes as we saw a rattler. Only issue was we couldn't find a dump site so we took our trash back to town until we could find a dumpster. TIPS: -Bring a first aid kit just in case. -Bring EVERYTHING you plan on using, we rented a paddle board in Austin (See my review for ACK) -If you camp in a tent, bring METAL stakes, as the ground is really hard and covered with rocks. -Phone service for Tmo was non-existent, but Verizon had good reception. -Bring more than extra stuff to fix flats!

I was here for the famed (infamous?) Texas Eclipse Festival with 30,000-40,000 others. While the…read morefestival itself had some problems with organization that were completely unrelated to the ranch itself, I enjoyed my experience here quite a lot. There are some beautiful overlooks, a nice quarry lake for cooling off (although who knows how clean the water is, if livestock use it), and an overall great away-from-it-all vibe. I read that they use this ranch for mountain biking and I believe it. The hills are nothing to mess around with. Hiking will require quite a bit of up and down. Also, the dust was baaaaaaad. Come prepared with a mask or bandana if you are at all sensitive to dust. Other than that, it seems like a beautiful spot for recreating in the TX Hill Country.

We have an amazing training center right here in Killeen. Project Scuba teaches all ages (must be…read more10) for scuba. I am 72 years young and am a Certified Open Water Scuba Diver. Scuba lessons are very affordable and my sage advice from trying to learn on split fins that were too flimsy, a leaking mask that didn't fit my pointed little head, and a leaking snorkel that tried to drown me. DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYONE ELSE that is trying to help you save money. I immediately ordered my own fins, mask, and snorkel as soon as I knew what I needed. Please consult Amy...the best! Can't help but love her. Chris is awesome too. You will be taught individually (scuba), and they teach swimming for any age both individually or in small groups, all in a beautiful enclosed heated pool! And local! I was so thrilled and thankful to find them when I chose to pick up Scuba diving. If you like flying under water, following correct procedures for your own safety, willing to learn a new exciting sport working with amazing dive masters, somewhat physically able, can float easily and swim, love the water, able to pursue your new expensive habit, will always have a dive buddy, then this is the place to start and finish your Scuba Open Water Certification(s). They also have additional instructors (see website). I met three of them who certified me for both Dive 3 and 4...only 4 open water dives required, performing different skills proficiently each dive. If you are not able to perform all of them correctly, practice, get good at it, and retake the Dive you needed help with on another day. I was not charged extra for a retake). Go live, enjoy, scuba with new friends, travel when you can, laugh much, and have a blast experiencing your new sport! And learn from a professional school teacher as well as a Professional Dive Master that will help you along the way learning the skills you will need. Amy rocks as well as Chris.
