We have rented through Riviera Marina several times over the years and have been satisfied with the service. They have a few different boats including pontoons, ski boats and jet skis. The parking lot is opposite to the boating office and it's a short walk from the lot. There's a long staircase to go down to the marina to get into the boat. The instructions before getting on and driving the boat were clear. We had a great time on the pontoon this weekend. You can usually give them a call if you need to extend the time and if there's no other bookings after yours, they are usually happy to oblige. read more

The ship store and the restrooms (with showers) are convenient places to get ready for a boat trip and clean up afterwards. The party barges were a perfect choice for a family party. It was a 4 hour boat ride sailing across Lake Travis. The one we were on held about 50 people. If you are not a member then you have to park on the concrete across from the members' parking lot. However, it's best to unload before you park since the concrete parking was a far walk if you have to carry all of your supplies/food in the scorching Texas heat. You can ask for a personnel with a go-cart to help you bring heavier supplies over to the dock. On the party barges, there are two floors, BBQ grill, speakers, tables, and one restroom. Almost everything that you need. Just bring coolers, food, and drinks. They do have two rules: No jumping off the second floor into the lake and no #2 in the restroom. There is a fine if you break the rules! The captain and the attendee were friendly and attentive. We had two stops on the tour so we could BBQ and swim in the lake. They have adult life jackets but if you have children then bring your own. Overall, a nice and relaxing experience. Everyone from my party enjoy the tour and had a great time. Don't forget to feed your captain and the attendee! The captain even let two of the children from my party drive the boat back to the dock under his instructions. Even though it was summer, the breeze as the boat was sailing took away the summer heat. Also, can't forget about the gorgeous scenery of Lake Travis. read more

I would like to preface this by saying we have rented from this establishment multiple times before without major issues, but I cannot let slide our most recent experience. We rented a pontoon boat for four hours and added a Lillypad. The worker at the dock gave me specific instructions for the Lillypad to make sure we did not damage it as they had just started renting to customers again because they apparently were getting damaged too much. We followed every direction to a T and the Lillypad still ended up getting damaged. One of our party walked across the Lillypad and his foot went right through. We were honest and up front when we arrived back and let them know what happened. The first response was "that shouldn't have happened if you were just walking on it". Agreed. We were told we had to pay a replacement fee of $400 for this large foam mat. I understand they are expensive but we were also charged a rental fee on top of that even though we ended up having to purchase the entire mat. The mat was also not brand new. They stated it was new this year but it already had obvious wear. There was also nothing in our paperwork that stated what the cost would be if a lily pad was damaged. We brought this up to the worker and her response was "I totally understand but you still have to pay". We are out an extra $400 (plus tax) and will not be renting from this marina again. read more

We recently rented a party barge for my sisters bachelorette. They were the cheapest option in the Austin area, which makes sense because they are a little farther away than some of the other marinas. Overall, the experience was good. Someone in our group was extremely seasick and the Marina store was out of Dramamine which was unfortunate. That's not necessarily their fault, but it would have been very helpful for her if they had it stocked because she was sick the entire time. The reason I took off one star is because the parking lot is pretty far from the dock and you cannot get any closer to drop off all your stuff. They said they sometimes have staff members on golf carts helping out with peoples coolers and what not, but they were not offering that service at the time. So we had to carry 3 heavy coolers quite a ways from the bus to the dock. We spent $1400 in total on the party barge including tip so I think that service should have been included from the start. Additionally, if your intention is to go to the party cove and boat hop, this is not the rental company you should go through. They are about 45 minutes each way from the party cove area so almost half of your time would have been spent driving to the cove rather than swimming and enjoying the water. read more

Giving them 1 star is over doing it. I wish I could give them ZERO stars. I was told I would be given my security deposit after I had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances. This occurred right after I have them my card info through the phone. I never signed a contract either, or ANYTHING!! There was no agreement in place. I should've been charged for the security deposit AFTER I emailed them a signed copy of my contract. I called multiple times and the same girl would answer every time, I would leave a message with her for the owner of the marina and was NEVER contacted back. This past time I called, she told me the owners are never in. Soooo, okay how am I supposed to contact them? We had a great time on the lake renting from this marina. Got our boat quickly. They left off the ski rope but gave us extra time when we came back to pick it up. Great boat. Easy. *One issue that may be important to others: This is during the pandemic. No employees wore masks. They did only allow one person in the store and had a hand washing station outside. I wiped the boat down myself as an extra precaution though the outside and sun aspect likely make it pretty low risk. Also brought own hand sanitizer etc to clean hands after sharing pens with employees. We wore masks until out on the water. Traffic was fairly light on the water (rented on a Monday) and weather was great. We had a lot of fun. read more

Avoid them, they will cancel your trip WITH NO REFUND for no reason. Background: Some friends booked a boat party with the marina in May 2022. The rental fee, $1350 per their website, must be paid up front in full to secure the reservation. My friends posted the event on Instagram and FB to let everyone know. We each paid $40 to help cover the cost. We all showed up, on time, and the marina people said something along the lines of "you can't sell tickets and make a profit off the boat". Despite trying to come to some sort of agreement, they canceled the reservation AND KEPT THE MONEY. This is wrong on so many levels. First, what business is it of the marina how people pay for the rental fee? Unless you are a corporate client or rich or doing a wedding or something with a large budget, how do they think people pay for group events? Why does it matter if you post the event to Instagram to let everyone know? Second, let's look at "making a profit". Boat rental is $1350 per the marina web site. It is traditional to include a tip for the captain and crew, which is not included in the rental price. Say you pay 20%. So that's an extra $270, for a total of $1620. The boat holds 40 people, and we were each paying $40. That's $1600, so the organizers are actually LOSING $20 at the start (actually more since we had a few spots still open). And they had DJs booked to perform, plus DJ equipment rental, etc. that all has to be paid for somehow. So even if they got the boat for a little cheaper, maybe all the DJs were playing for free, etc., this is not exactly a big profit scheme. The event was done for the love of the music and having a great day on the lake, and the marina completely screwed us. The money was paid, and the company flat out refused to provide the service they agree to deliver, and kept the money. How is this not outright fraud or theft? I put on events myself, and had been thinking about doing a boat party. I will NEVER do business with these people after this experience. I have a ton of friends that also put on events, and I'm telling every one of them about this experience so they can avoid this company also. If you choose to book an event with these people, be VERY cautious since if this happened to us, it is probably happening to others, and it could happen to you. You have been warned. read more

Please do not book a rental with Riviera Marina. This was the worst marina/boating service I've ever had. Point blank. It's ghetto. You have to trek all your shit down this huge hill. That is not safe and the staff will not help you. Just FYI. My friend rented this boat for her birthday and spent a good chunk of money on it. The captain and other staff member just sat on the boat and watched us haul on coolers and all the stuff we were bringing on the boat. Useless. And she pre tipped them 20%. The musty dusty crusty captain hit on all the women on the boat. Or tried to anyway, it was so unprofessional. Yuck. They then proceeded to sit around and watch us eat. We weren't able to feel comfortable. We ended up going upstairs to get away from them. They also "ran into" friends on a little fishing boat or whatever. They then just chilled and hung out. I was like what is happening. I just can't believe a service that costs as much as it does has the audacity to be this disrespectful to their guests. In conclusion, I definitely do not recommend. There is a reason why this place has boats when everywhere else is fully booked. The place is run by teenagers. The training session took 20 minutes and the kid couldn't figure out where the registration was or how to turn it on properly. The boat seats were cracked and ripped open. The boat went 8 miles an hour maxed out which was not clearly started on the website. We were told there was no one scheduled after us so we could extend our time if we wanted. When we got back we were instantly confronted that we had the boat motor pointed towards the rocks and didn't call ahead to tell them we were extending, none of this was stated as required to do before leaving. They also said they took pictures of us and had proof we had the boat pointed the wrong way which is unsettling and came across as some kind of threat. We would have gladly pointed the boat in the correct direction if they had bothered to teach us that. Don't waste you're money here. read more

Rented a party barge for my son's birthday party. We had a great time. Captain Brad was one of the main factors in making this rental successful! He was very helpful, was polite to all the guests and made everyone feel at ease. He made the birthday fun and showed them tricks on the water slide. After the trip was over and we docked, he was able to run over and get one of the golf carts to help with transporting grandma back up to the parking lot. Told us there would be a golf cart to drive our family the half a mile from parking to boat dock. When we arrived this morning, we were told that due to covid, we would now have to walk the distance. We are a party with children and older adults and are grateful my husband is able bodied and good natured enough to run the distance and park both cars. The kids working there were really nice about it at least. -update: Boat was really small and worn out, surprising for the price we paid. And the uphill walk in 101 degrees was pretty brutal. I should have read a few yelp reviews before renting but the place we usually rent from had no boats for rent and suggested that Riviera might have some. Now I know why they did. My original rental was for 4 hours on Sunday but we had to reschedule to Tuesday afternoon. We got bait and switched into having to rent an upgraded boat because the regular ski boats they had were not available, and we could only rent for three hours instead for the same amount we paid for 4 hours on Sunday. They are a Marina and have lots of boats available but only bother dropping one or two into the water, so they fudge availability. The boat we rented was old, dirty, and patched with duck tape - this was a supposedly upgraded premium boat. You have to park very far away on a very steep walk. After getting signed in and briefed, we ended up on the water for 2 1/2 hours and paid well over $400. Very disappointed. Please consider yourself fair warned. Do not rent a boat from this marina. Let me preface this by saying I grew up on boats and this is not a case of user negligence. We wasted an afternoon trying to anchor so we could swim and lay out on the lily pad. The anchor they gave us could not hold the boat in place. When we complained, the management (Lance) openly admitted to us that their anchors were "shit" but they didn't want to shell out for good anchors. After about a half hour of arguing they offered us a refund for 2 hours of our 4 hour reservation. Very unprofessional horrible experience. read more

Our large group was told (after asking) to get to the marina 15 minutes before departure. This was nowhere near enough time for everyone to park (across the street), walk down to the water carrying ice coolers, towels, etc., check in (after waiting our turn in line to enter the building due to Covid), pay, leave a tip (more on this in a second), and then walk down to board the boat. So our charter left about 20-30 minutes late. Given what we paid for the charter, that was about $150 worth of time. Before we were even allowed to board the boat, we were asked if we wanted to leave a tip for our captain. What? So then I felt obligated to bc if we didn't tip him and the captain knew it, he might not give us the full treatment. So I signed a second credit card transaction for a 20% tip of $141. So what did the $750 charter + $141 tip get us? A 5-minute drive to a cliff, where we parked for the entire remaining 2.5 hours. And we parked within 30 feet of another charter from the same company whose music drowned out our own - so instead of listening to the playlist I spent time creating for this charter, we listed to mariachi rap music from the neighboring boat. The only enjoyable thing about the charter was floating in the water and visiting with our friends - both of which we could have done for free by visiting any public park on the lake. read more

I've been coming here for years as a close friend of someone whose parents have kept a boat here for almost 2 decades. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've known riviera marina for over a decade. The service has been consistently warm, professional, and punctual. But only this last time was I so blown away did I feel the need to write a review. All of us having moved away, we now go out once a year instead of twice a week. So it has been a while since I realized how low the lake has gotten, and riviera had moved the docks farther out into the cove. The owner has clearly invested a lot of money and labor into making sure customers have easy waterfront access to their boats, as easy as possible during this horrific drought. The icing on the cake was the employees. Always the quiet professionals, they really impressed me this weekend. All the boys, clearly still teenagers, were so professional, friendly, and competent. Considering some kids from that generation I've recently encountered, riviera employees gave me hope for the future generation. If this review sounds cheesy or overly sentimental, it should. Lake Travis is such a huge part of so many austinites' existence, and the drought has had real emotional impacts on top of the environmental impacts. Riviera Marina has clearly worked their asses off to preserve the core of the lake community as much as any one place can. I love this place. We had a horrible experience here! Our jet ski broke down half way through the trip, and their water-tight compartments were not tight enough to preserve our belongings. Luckily we flagged down a boat to climb in a borrow a cell phone to call the marina, and they said they could not get us for another 45 minutes...we were the only ones out on the water at the time. When they did come out, they brought nothing to tow the broken down jet ski with. It was like dumb and dumber running the show. They never refunded us or gave us extra time. I asked to talk to the manager to see if we could work something out, but he was out. I gave the marina my contact information but never got word from the manager. I called back twice more throughout the month, and after leaving messages with other workers to see if I could speak with the manager (who is always out), I stopped trying. i would have at least appreciated a refund or a discount on the next ride. DO NOT rent from this place - We rented a pontoon boat - what they DONT tell you is there are different pkgs - meaning just the "regular pontoon only goes 8RPM - which takes you forever to get anywhere - the boat was trashed, the upholstery was ripped up - Ashlyn that worked there told my husband that NO one was renting after us so if we wanted to stay extra time that we would just pay for the time. We get back to the dock and the crew immediately started harassing us - saying "we have pictures" where you tried to anchor and "IF" you would have hit that rock it would have been$2K to fix.- IF???? We DIDNT hit anything so why are you aggressively lecturing us. We then go to pay for the 1 more hour we stayed and Ashlyn tried saying we were going to be charged DOUBLE for the extra hour because we "DIDNT call them to let them know we are using another hour". This place was absolutely awful, especially when it comes to customer service. Go to Just For Fun, NOT this place. Their weather policy is ridiculous and will not refund EVEN IF there is lightning. I'm born and bred in Austin and have never seen such a policy. Granted, they cannot control the weather, but for an outdoor event based company, there should definitely be a better policy. To compare, here is Just for Fun's policy, which is posted on their website: "Full refund will be given in the event of rain at our location at your scheduled time of departure." Found Riviera while exploring the Volente area one day, and have rented boats from them on a number of occasions. Very friendly staff, and good selection of boats, watercraft, and rental gear. Not a huge fan of their 48-hr cancellation policy on booking boat rentals in advance. The policy states that if you book a rental in advance, and have to cancel, you must do so within 48 hours or you will be charged the full amount of your rental. Granted, I understand they have to be covered against no-shows etc. I'd do the same thing if I had such a business, but I'd like to see them revise the policy to be a little more competitive. This won't stop me from renting from them, I am a fan and I recommend them. read more

Captain Johnny! He is the MAN! We originally called and asked it pets were allowed, they said yes there was no fee but when we arrived they said "No dogs have ever been on our boats." Crazy! Right? Captain got us though, talked to the owners and got it all sorted out! We came all the way from San Antonio so if they wouldn't let our dog Frosty on then I don't know what we would have done. Came here recently, having reserved a pontoon boat for 4 hours - reservation was found, charges were up-front, forms took about 15m to fill out, and we were on hour way. All the staff both in the office and on the deck was professional and helpful. The trim on the boat didn't work, which wasn't a big deal, but everything else was fine.
