With a few details about make/model & what I needed done - he provided me with a preliminary quote over the phone. He added me to the schedule for 4 days later. Showed up when we agreed & got right to work. When doing that initial work, I asked him to check out some other possible aging parts (my boat is old) & he suggested new spark plugs & distributor cap/rotors. He came back a few days later & got that all done as well. I wasn't there for "part 2" but he sent plenty of photos of the old parts & how they'd worn to confirm (a) he did the work & (b) to indicate it was the correct advice to replace some aging parts. Other great part about Jerry is that he doesn't keep a warehouse of parts. He'll tell you exactly what you need & suggest affordable places to get it. So there's no mark-up on the supplies. If you want to get high-end stuff - that's on you...he'll still suggest Walmart or Amazon for the best price. Lastly - he'll come to you...no need to bring your boat to him. This is especially important for me...we don't own a trailer at all.

Capital Marine Services failed in Hudson Bend 3 times to install a new long block engine in my boat…read moreafter I payed $11,000 in full. After 9 months I had to forcefully retrieve my boat and have it taken to 5 Star marine. They said they have never seen a more failed complete disaster of an install. Capital Marine Services made a contract with 5 Star marine to fix my boat. They never payed them the full amount they promised and I was forced to pay it myself. Capital Marine Service admitted they owed me the money and would mail me a check. It has been 30 days. As of today still no check. Capital Marine still owes me $1009.75 Capital Marine will lie to you, deceive you and fool you. BEWARE! I have all this documented and can prove every word I speak. 5 Star Marine fixed my boat in 40 days and Capital Marine Services could not fix it in 270 days. Let that sink in!

When I got there, they told me that they couldn't give me an estimate without checking the cost of the materials. A few days later, I got the estimate at $2,600. I had to go back to pick up my boat.
