I rarely feel inclined to take the time to review a business, but this place, and the owner, are really something special. I stopped in this afternoon, feeling a little desperate for what to feed my dog that is in end stage kidney disease. He has flat out refused to eat the vet prescribed "kidney diet" food, and is basically starving to death. The owner was so happy to help and chat and give guidance on different, healthy, flavorful foods to try ... and graciously filled a bag with samples of a bunch of different brands and flavors. It is evident that she is invested in not just running a business, but truly cares for her customers and their pets, She left such an impression, I will be a forever customer of her adorable and amazingly stocked store. Also have to add that my boy scarfed down the food she recommended as soon as I got home! So relieved, grateful, and so happy I decided to pop in to this store this afternoon! read more

We have a new rescue pup and our dog trainer recommended Scraps so we could look at collars and harnesses. Scraps is so much more than a bakery! They have a huge variety of everything you could possibly need! The owner, Jeff, spent close to an hour with us getting our pup fitted with the perfect harness, collar, and leash! Our dog was hard to fit and we tried several types but Jeff wouldn't stop until he got it just perfect. He was so caring and loving toward our pup. I will definitely go back! read more

We stop in frequently to see Jeff. He's so loving and attentive. A true dog lover. Anyone with a pet they love should be going to scraps. You won't regret it. read more

Omigosh!! This little doggy shop is my new go to for our dogs birthday cakes and cookies! I needed a last minute dog birthday cake for one of our pups and I googled this shop! It is the most adorable little place with the most unique merchandise and doggy toys! My husband and I went in and the owner/baker was making fresh cakes as we came in! I loved how everything was fresh and being made right then! We got a bunch of cookies as well as some handmade paw cakes! The cakes are all natural dog safe ingredients! They smelled so good!! The cakes came I. The most adorable boxes with a bow and candle on the cake! I just loved the attention to detail and care that was put into every detail! The owners are so sweet, dog people for sure! This will be my new go to for anything dog related especially specialty goods! I think they even do custom orders too we will try that next time! read more

TLDR: super cute store, ultra friendly staff, & baked goods for your pup from their bakery! I haven't been here since college. So while I was in town visiting, we decided to stop by with our corgi to get him a treat for his birthday. We got him a pup cake, which was frosted to order with cream cheese. We also let him pick out a toy too, which was definitely a hard task for him since they carry a large variety for different kinds of pups and their play tendencies! The staff was very friendly and kept spoiling our corgi, which was so wonderful! They also were very informative on what their baked goods are made with incase your pup may have any allergies. Love this little doggy gem! read more

Bummed, today I went in to get some of the treats from the bakery. I've been wanting to try for weeks now to go in but due to the hours they are open haven't been able to make it on time. I bought 8 treats. I'm totally fine and happy to pay the money for treats for my babies. Except when they can't even eat them. I get home and none of the dogs could chew them. Not even my boyfriend could break it with his hands. I then remembered her saying to another cashier that the "baker hasn't been baking". I'm only upset that they were willing to sell me clearly old treats for my dogs that they can't even break enough to eat. And dogs pretty much eat ANYTHING you give them. I was bummed to waste the money. Hopefully others have had better experiences, my only suggestion would be to have them confirm when they made the treats so you don't waste the excitement and money read more

Such a cute little place. There's a few things I specifically like to stop in here for. I love that they sell single bully sticks, lamb horns and whimzees. So when my pup is on my mind, I stop in to get him a little something special. They also have a great variety of unique dog toys. I recently stopped in for my pup's birthday and he absolutely loves the beanbag-like ostrich and purple puff ball! I was also able to get him a little homemade "paw cake" which he gobbled right up. The only thing I will say is that this is definitely geared more towards dogs with limited items for cats. Make sure you go all the way to the back of the store to check out the homemade treats! read more

Scraps Dog Bakery - Prince visited Scraps and loved the store with treats! - Pet Stores Near Me - Grass Valley, California

Treats for my dog baby at home! I always miss my dog and wish he could come with us on vacation too! However Hawaii has strict quarantine laws and it would mean 3 months without my dog baby instead of just 2 weeks. My son always thinks about his brother too and we always try to find Keebler some treats. We saw a bumper sticker with this place (back when we were in Nevada city) and decided to check this place out. I was more excited when it was only a short five minute drive away. Watch out though it's in a neighborhood mall but it's tucked away in the corner. We get in and it's definitely your mom and pop neighborhood pet store/bakery. We immediately go check out the dog treats in the bakery. They have cool flavors and in cool shapes too (mint frogs)! They do not have preservatives so it will only last two weeks and even then she said it will be extremely crunchy. I hope they're still good for Keebler when we see him! The woman working was friendly but not overly friendly (maybe that's a mainland thing). She was willing to help us out pick out good treats for our dog. I am not sure if my dog will love the treats hence the 4 not 5 stars. If it's completely amazing, I will update later!! I can't wait to give them to him! :) read more

Scraps Dog Bakery - So cute and they have little paw cakes too!! - Pet Stores Near Me - Grass Valley, California

Local small business with great supplies and very good prices that are the same or lower than Petco and Chewy. I didn't go in for the longest time because I thought it was just a bakery. I hope they consider changing their name to Scraps Pet Supply and Bakery so that more people will go check it out for their pet supplies. I was going to Petco or Chewy for my dog food and supplies because I didn't know there was a local business who carried everything I wanted. I also love the dog food brands they have are the top rated brands you can't get at Petco or Chewy. Once I discovered this store I cancelled my Chewy autoship. Support local! read more

I'm sure others love the place, but I won't be going back. Have you ever encountered a business where staff makes it clear that the owners' profit is more important than the customers' experiences and needs? This is one. Their stock is generally overpriced in the first place (but we usually don't mind paying for good quality stuff purchased locally from responsible friendly merchants) I've purchased several items there throughout the years, and several times came away with the feeling that my presence in the store wasn't particularly valued, eg, I asked about a not-in-stock food item and the first words out of the clerk's mouth were how much trouble the additional time and costs to them to get it for me. Sorry I bothered you. Similarly, staff was too quick to tell me how much trouble it would be to take a return if I didn't pick out the right size. Etc. The final straw happened last week. We had a late Christmas get together (Jan 17) with a friend where she gave my dogs a small bag of Christmas biscuits. Upon opening them, they were completely coated with half inch long green mold threads. So I took them back two days later to ask for a replacement. Scraps staff, instead of understanding that the small cost of producing a few biscuits was nothing in exchange for keeping a customer happy, blew me off. The clerk said, rather unpleasantly, "we tell people to leave the bag open when they buy them" (which BTW my friend told me she HAD done, had just closed them up before our get-together) and just looked at me with that 'tough shit lady, we already got our money out of the deal'' look. I left the moldy bag on the counter for her to dispose of. For the tiny costs of producing a couple of biscuits (I know, we like to make them at home), or token something, or apology, they could have made a happy loyal customer. But they didn't. Scraps Grass Valley, you need to work on making your clientele feel more valued and less like a vehicle for you to squeeze money out of (for nothing in return in this case) for your own purposes! Your staff also needs to improve its customer service skills, and/or you should not be selling perishable items in non-perishable packaging with no labeling to inform the customer they're going to rot. Although I would really like to trade with them, this greedy business now has one less customer. And I don't look forward to telling my friend what happened to her (what should have been) nice gift to my dogs. read more

I go here for my puppy. Small store locally owned and they are the same price for her food as the big store I used to go to :)
