The grounds are immaculate and perfectly groomed. In fact I had to ask " do we park on the gravel or grass?" and much To my surprise you park in the grass. Upon arrival we were greeted by Brooklyn ( and her beautiful kids, and she filled us in , showed us around and gave us dinner and hot springs suggestions, both of which we patronized. We moved to a 50 amp site to have sewer as the dump station looks really small. Hard to navigate roads and we won't be staying again. Sorry KOA, you have let this on go down hill

There were boulders on the entrance to each site. There wasn't any room for turning radius so that our RV could get in the site. So yes our RV tangled with a Boulder on P/S. We had to park our car in the dirt by the picnic table. We were warned yesterday that we had 5 minutes to move our car off the dirt on our site or the park ranger would fine us $1,000.00. Are they insane? My hubby had to move the car immediately in his pjs up to the office parking lot and then walk down all the levels in his pj's. I would never stay there again.

We bare had 6' between us and our neighbors with very little space outside to enjoy. It was like having someone in your site all day. After 10 it did go pretty quiet, so kudos for enforcing quiet hours. Outside of that, because of the proximity to each other, it was a madhouse. That was probably mainly because neighbors had little respect for others. I also, noticed the electric service had reversed polarity at our site. I must say it was a full weekend. Every site was filled. I would come off season where your not subject to sardine stacking. The surrounding area is nice. I would recommend Aspen Grove across the road. Very nice!

The views and access to the river are unbeatable. They are constantly improving the area, this is already the best campground in Lava. If you are looking for things to do while in Lava, Portneuf also has an equipment rental tent where you can rent anything from tubes to side by sides at super affordable rates. I highly recommend staying at this campground if you are looking to camp in Lava Hot Springs.

It feels secluded in the best way possible. The pools were clean, water temp was perfect, and the entire space just had a calm, grounded energy. You can tell they care about keeping it natural and not turning it into some crowded resort vibe. Staff was super friendly and made the check-in easy. The facilities were well maintained (clean restrooms, places to change, etc.) and the whole environment encourages you to unplug and actually slow down. If you're looking for more of a nature + wellness experience instead of a loud tourist hot spring, this is 100% the place. Worth the drive -- would definitely come back.
