Most sites are water and electric only and super close to your neighbor. The sites are tiered and the water and electric were up on a hill while the sewer was near our camp. Mostly long term renters. Nice front office staff but this park is not up to par as we stayed last night at a different KOA and it was a 5 star in Perry, Utah. Delayed maintenance in the sites. We moved to a 50 amp site to have sewer as the dump station looks really small. Hard to navigate roads and we won't be staying again. Sorry KOA, you have let this on go down hill

Fortunately we had good neighbors for the most part, but we could only put our dog out with us on a tether when we didn't have people in the camp next to us. Easy access to the boat launch nearby for fishing. Easy day trips up to Victor, Driggs or Jackson. Even Teton is a reasonable trip. There are restaurants and groceries within 10 miles. We went in July 2022 and it was just amazing. Our kids loved this place. You rent tubes, float down the river (15 minutes), then get shuttled back up to the launch point. My wife and I enjoyed sitting under a tree, sipping on cold beverages, and waiting to see our boys float by. Yes, we floated down ourselves a couple times and it was fun, but there was no chance we were going to try to keep up with our kids. There is a great little Mexican (Taqueria Pelayo) that was not only affordable, but had great enchiladas. Something unexpected to this guy from Southern California where the Mexican food is as authentic as you can get this side of the border. The KOA we stayed at as described in the video was the East KOA. You can hear a little more about this in the video, but it was just fine. No complaints. We could have used a little more shade in our spot. It was smoking hot out and there were no shade trees anywhere in our section up at the top. No big deal when you have 50 amp service with 2 a/c's kicking, but needless to say we didn't spend much time outside our RV. We were either inside it or out on the water. Super cute town with lots to do in the summer time.Go check out Lava Hot Springs and you won't be disappointed.

We have stayed at a lot of KOAs over the country and the noise here is by far the worst. Definitely recommend getting a site as far away from the road if possible and be prepared for the noise because the highway is literally right next to the campground. Otherwise, beautiful campground with very clean facilities. I liked that they had separate individual bathrooms with toilet and shower in one for more privacy.

First off the hosts are very nice and responsive. On the negative...there is no office, no store,…read moreno sewer, no wifi, and no space. We bare had 6' between us and our neighbors with very little space outside to enjoy. It was like having someone in your site all day. After 10 it did go pretty quiet, so kudos for enforcing quiet hours. Outside of that, because of the proximity to each other, it was a madhouse. That was probably mainly because neighbors had little respect for others. I also, noticed the electric service had reversed polarity at our site. I must say it was a full weekend. Every site was filled. I would come off season where your not subject to sardine stacking. The surrounding area is nice. I would recommend Aspen Grove across the road. Very nice!

IMPORTANT: This campground changed owner/management a few years back. Any poor reviews from 4 years…read moreago should be ignored, the new owners are incredible and made our camping experience super easy. This campground is INCREDIBLE! The views and access to the river are unbeatable. They are constantly improving the area, this is already the best campground in Lava. If you are looking for things to do while in Lava, Portneuf also has an equipment rental tent where you can rent anything from tubes to side by sides at super affordable rates. I highly recommend staying at this campground if you are looking to camp in Lava Hot Springs.

Nice grassy areas situated right on the Portneuf river. It was so fun to raft the river and end right back at the campsite! If you are in Idaho near here this is the place to be!
