Had to do xrays for my 10 yo daughter and from walking in everyone was extremely friendly! There volunteers make sure to help direct you to where you need to be and the smell of fresh popcorn gets your mouth watery! They have a playground directly in front of the hospital to keep the kids busy. You can always appreciate a hospital that does not charge for parking! read more

Every single time I pass Scottish Rite Hospital, I think of all the times I'd visit the children at Scottish Rite Hospital. My Dad was a Shriner & I'd go with him many times to volunteer our time & visit the children at Scottish Rite. I always left with such admiration for the children, their families, the doctors, the staff and volunteers at Scottish Rite....and my Dad. Dad was so dedicated to helping these children....& people in general. I do remember one LASTING Impression I had. It was over the Christmas Holidays in the early 1970's...... my mother & I held & read to two young children that had No Family. We later learned that these two children had basically been abandoned......the parents couldn't handle their condiiton. It's haunted me to this day. The Children @ TSRHFC are there for many reasons...from Scoliosis, Limb Disorders, Hip Dyspepsia, Limb Length differences, Muscle & Bone Disorders, Dyslexia and many other Neurological Disorders & Learning Disorders. Texas Scottish Rite Hospital was established in 1921 when a group of Texas Masons approached Dr. W.B. Carrell, (Dallas' first orthopedic surgeon) about caring for children with Polio, regardless of the family's ability to pay. With the eradication of Polio in the mid-1950's, TSRHC began to broaden its focus to other orthopedic conditions. TSRHC has treated more than 200,000 children since its inception. This is a wonderful hospital. I work at Children's Medical Center and our department has an agreement with TXSRH that one of our resident chaplains will have TXSRH as their clinical assignment. One of my friends and colleagues is their chaplain and loves working over here. On Thursday mornings, all of our residents meet here for about an hour and a half for seminar. Each time we walk into the hospital, I am blown away by the friendliness of the staff and the overall catering to children. This is a very playful hospital and I feel very at home here. One thing worth mentioning is the cafeteria. They have a great selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Plus, it is CHEAP. Working in a hospital myself, I often grow frustrated with the prices of food and quality of food. I can't imagine how each meal adds up for families spending weeks or months in the hospital. I am so thankful for TXSRH and their ability to provide affordable and tasty food to staff, patients and families! read more

Ive only been here a couple times to pass out toys at Christmas time, never as a patient. But it is a beautiful facility. I wish all hospitals had the atmosphere of this one. Everything is so brightly colored and theres so much to look at. When you walk down the hallways you almost forget its a hospital. The employees are all incredibly friendly and so helpful. Parking is a breeze! Not only is there tons of parking out front but there is a garage underneith with plenty more room. read more

My daughter visited these hospital on 11/9/2022 for a surgery a fracture bone, However surgery lasted 4 hours her doctor was MD Chris Stutz- Nurses Angie, Felicia she was sent home with low dosage pain meds, However I do know the government controls how they are issued, 8 pills and 5-325 and was told by nurse Angie that she should be able to tolerate the pain... So I ask Angie do her being 15 with that kind of surgery and hand was fire red and swollen I know to alternate between Tylenol so she can't have kids and if she do she definitely don't know my child and to be told to tolerate that kind of pain she Definitely don't have kids, and shouldn't be working with them Felicia is the most rudest nurse! If you love your kids Please parents don't go here- Nurses &MD Chris Stutz was not a good overall experience!! read more

200th Yelp review! Phewwwww and so glad it is the Scottish Rite Hospital! This place is amazing for kids who do have special medical conditions. My sister has a rare situation with MD and has been coming here since she was born. Surgeries and check ups happen often but each one helps improve her everyday. Not just medically but emotionally too. Every single person is always smiling and friendly and very helpful. My sister loves her doctors and they show the same amount of love to her. I had a kid talk to us during lunch and he told me 'did you know I'm one in a thousand?! I was born with no spine but i can still walk and play baseball!' He went on about facts about his condition and his little brother chimed in. It was adorable. The place is definitely decorated for kids. Spaceship corners, sail ship displays, free fresh popcorn (which all the kids love), the environment is so positive and cheerful. Keep up the good work! read more

I can't say enough good things about this hospital taking care of my daughter. They never rush, always find the best solution and aren't scared to run some tests to see what is going on since she has a chronic condition. Quality of care here has taken a nose dive. Was here in 2010 for one child and again in 2015 for another. Both only needed expert opinions on other doctors' diagnoses. In 2010 getting an appointment took a couple of weeks. We got there wait time was average and we saw a well regarded doctor who did a thorough exam and gave a very detailed explanation and diagnosis. Fast forward five years later, different kid same diagnosis( the type of thing that runs in families) and it took two months to get an appointment during which we were seen by a resident. The main doc came in at the end pretty much said " yeah what he said" and left. That opinion was polar opposite of another specialist's opinion so we asked to see another DOCTOR for a majority opinion. Four months go by before we get another appointment. Thank goodness my kid isn't critical . We go in, it takes FOUR AND A HALF HOURS for us to be seen and we figure we'll wait since this doc supposedly knows her stuff. Guess who walks in? Another bloody resident! I come pretty close to kicking him out but let him do his thing with the understanding that the doc will be in shortly and i can bite her head off. So we wait in the room...15, 20, 35 minutes... The kid dozes off. I leave. My time is precious. And all in i've wasted six months 5 hours worth of it. I've been to one doctor hospitals in Africa with shorter wait times.... No, really. I wouldn't recommend this place anymore unless a) you have no other options or b) you would like to volunteer your kid as a guinea pig for practicing residents. No thanks. read more

Daughter had a hairline fracture in her foot. After office visit with C.P.N.P. got charged for surgical CPT 28470 code, applying to insurance deductible, where a E/M code or "office visit" would have been more appropriate according Podiatry Management and United Health Care. Hospital billing is unwilling to change the code which leave us with a 120% higher bill. read more

Dr. Wilson and Chuck have been awesome for our daughter; however, the wait times to see the providers have progressively gotten worse. The condescension by staff regarding wait time and the office being one for surgeons is infuriating. My opinion is that when you are paying for services rendered regardless of service, they should occur within an acceptable time not more than an hour after the "appointed" time. For some reason, I have been thinking about this hospital tonight. I am SO sure that things must have changed since the time I was there. I was a Student Nurse in the early 70s. At that time, there were strict " visitor " hours. Parents were unable to see their own children outside of visiting hours.I worked for many years as an L&D nurse after I graduated. It took SOOO long before it was realized that Mom and Dad and anyone that was close to the " patient" might have had a very positive effect on the " patient" that we were caring for. My heart breaks tonight, as I think of the sweet kids AND Mom and Dad that were unable to be with their babies. I can see the WARDS of these sweet babies and children when I was a Student Nurse. I am retired from Nursing, now. I believe there must be a happy medium for family and friends at a delivery and visiting hours.Please try to imagine 7 family members at the warmer when a baby is born and requires some form of resuscitation. This Hospital is where I found my LOVE of children, and I am SO thankful that there are places like this still. I think of the horrific regulations back in the 70s,and am SO thankful for the steps that we have made in these years! read more
