Awesome hospital and staff! My friend had knee surgery done by Dr. Newton, who is super nice and came in pre-op to check on my friend and answer questions! Eddie Farmer is the patient family liason, and he greeted us warmly and explained the basics. Lexie, the nurse, did paperwork, and she was organized and super sweet. Sydney, the OR nurse, came in right before the surgery, to double check on everything! There was one more nurse whose name I didn't get, but he gave us all the post op stuff and explained things wonderfully. I was so thankful for all the love and kindness. The doctor calling my cell personally after the surgery was impressive. Thanks Dr. Newton! We'll be back in August for the other knee! read more

Such a great place! My boyfriends father had surgery here. We came to visit him the day of and the day he was released. The nursing staff was so friendly and helpful. Even the late night nurses had such a great energetic personality. If you stay over night, there is a sofa in each room that turns into a little bed. They'll bring you pillows and blankets because it does get pretty cold in the rooms. The hospital itself is very beautiful. There is a cafeteria and vending area on the first floor. They have a giant parking lot out front that's only a few yards from the building entrance. During the day they have a complimentary valet. At night they have security guards posted at the front. Definitely made me feel safer being there late. If you have a surgery or know someone who's having a surgery, this is definitely a great place to have it done! read more

I had a microendoscopic discectomy on my L5-S1 with Dr. Robert Viere at Methodist. I cannot give a better review other than excellent. From the calls from the nurse and anthesologist the evening before from the entrance to the exit of the hospital. I was treated with the utmost care and graciousness. Everyone I encountered on this surgery journey were very calming and reassuring. Some even had me laughing which was much needed as I was extremely nervous. I cannot express the words of how greatful I am for everyone in this process. The icing on the cake, after 34 days of being in bed, I can walk again pain free. I highly recommended Dr. Robert Viere and staff. He is wonderful and walks you through the complete process. I saw him on a Friday and I had surgery on Wednesday. I was in pretty bad shape. I'd also like to add I never waited more than 5 minutes throughout this whole journey. The best surgical unit around. read more

From the ladies who helped with pre-testing, (especially Candy) to the surgery team, to the nurses who tended me while I was in recovery (nurses who I remember: Melanie, Nancy, Brandy, Xarina, Chelsea, Alicia, Destiny, & the sweet lady who tended to me at my departure {Twanda?}), EVERYbody was very professional and caring. I had a S1 and L5 fusion surgery. Where to began... Right after my surgery they immediately removed me form IV and dropped it down 4mg dilaudid pills every four hours. Needless to say I didn't sleep for over 36 hours due to the pain. When I asked help with the severity pain. I was given the run around and I lied too. Hospital has issues sticking to schedules. Not just or twice, but multiple time. I was told by doctor i could l leave at 11:00am, I waited for lunch, since i had not eaten solid food. I let them know at 3:30 I would depart. Giving them 4.5 hours to get my discharge papers read to go and pain management paper work completed. The pain management person, named "Tracy" maybe, didn't manage to show up, as she has the kind of job that sge makes her own hours and changes those hours to suit. Nothing remotely professional about not getting dischargment or pain management prescriptions. This hospital should be your very last stop if needing a hospital in rge DFW area. read more

had a double lumbar fusion and repair to a previous fusion and the Surgein and OR staff were wonderful however most of the nurses were terrible. I had a long surgery, came out of the recovery room and 5 hours later I was alone in my room and the next thing I know they are telling me they had to give me two doses of narcon as my respirations went down to 8. All I remember is excruciatingly pain feeling like I was being electrocuted and realizing I almost died. I asked to go to ICU so someone could watch me and the nurse assured me she would be sitting right outside my door however when I needed her and called to her, she was not there. I was there for 5 days. During the 5 days, it was the 2nd day before some sweet Tech was kind enough to help me brush my teeth. I wasn't offered a sponge bath until the 4th day. My pain was uncontrolled as they were afraid to give me strong pain meds due to them overdosing me the first night. One nurse gave me two injections in my IV that has lose tape. I told her I couldn't feel the medicine and to please check the placement of the IV which she did not do. She put tape on it and I never got any pain relief. Another nurse hours later does the same thing and again no got an nurse named Raquel (my angel) who checked that IV and it was blown. My hand was huge from the fluids going into my skin but not my bloodstream. There was a wonderful Physical Therapist who was kind enough to change my sheets while I was up walking but no one else did. Not sure if the issue is understaffed Nursing but almost dying 5 hours after a surgery is a scary experience. I would not go back to this hospital for anything sadly. read more

I think this is a great facility, and today I was there with my elderly Mom, and had not used the valet parking (which is free, BTW). However when we were ready to leave, she sat at the east lobby and I told the parking valet that she was going to be sitting there while I brought the car around. He said "Oh, you stay with your Mom. I can bring your car to you." I hesitated but then agreed, and vaguely described where my car was in the parking lot, and its make, color, etc. Sure enough, in little more than a minute he was there with it! I was so impressed with his kindness and professionalism... a fine young chap! Next time I will take advantage of the valet parking. I don't know why I have not done so in the past, but I encourage everyone to remember this benefit that the facility offers. Many other hospitals charge for their valet parking service. read more

I planned on staying in the waiting room the entire surgery but they offer to call and keep you updated every step of the way so I was able to leave and keep my mind off the nerve wracking situation and still be able to know what was going on. I know that nobody enjoys going to the hospital. My mom was an RN and i hated the smell of the hospital where she worked. Visiting patients in the hospital with "that smell" is difficult for me. So, when we arrived at Methodist Surgery Hospital I was very impressed. First, we were greeted at the entrance by the Valet who parked our car. Complimentary! Next we were greeted by the front desk, which seemed more like a hotel registration than a hospital reception. We were received by the business office representative to review the upcoming charges. These had been given to me by phone a few days earlier so there were no surprises here. We were shown to a nice reception area where we waited to be called into the surgery prep area. My wife was with me the entire time the nurse got an IV started and told me what to expect. Next, the anesthesiologist visited and reassured me that he would be there during the entire back surgery procedure and would take very good care of me. My surgeon visited for a few minutes and said everything looked good to go. They must have given me some good stuff because I do not remember going into the OR. The next thing I knew I was in recovery and talking to the nurse. After a short while I was wheeled to my room and had the best care you could imagine. There was the nurse, a physical therapist and an inhalation therapist all making sure I was comfortable. They brought in a great meal for lunch and gave me a menu for dinner and breakfast in case I stayed over. The plan was to get discharged the same day and go home that evening. My surgeon came in to make sure I was stable enough to go home and I was on my way out by 7 PM. I had a couple of choices of hospitals where my surgeon could perform my procedure. I am VERY happy with the choice I made! read more

What a great little hospital. As the other review stated, luxurious, clean, great staff, plus, pretty darn good food. I was here for some spinal surgery. A round the clock intensive nursing program was handled by courteous professionals who seemed as intent on making my recovery complete as I was! You want attentive? Nurse in at 1:00 a.m. with hydrocodone, at 2:00a.m. with a muscle relaxer. A different one in at 3:a.m. taking blood pressure, O2 levels, and pulse, another one at 4 to draw blood, repeat again at 5:00a.m. and for the rest of the day, a physical therapist twice a day for walks, restaurant staff in to go over menu options, checkups to see how I was doing, pain level checks, yada yada yada. Note for literalists, I had no complaint over their attentiveness. Comfortable chairs in the waiting areas, large private rooms with a full sized couch and a lounger with a footrest, a nourishment fridge down the hall filled up with yummies just for the asking, and a 32"(?) Hi def TV in the room, the list goes on. A heckuva great option from Dallas' 3 "big Box" hospitals if you have the type of surgical requirement that the hospital specializes in. Did I say the food was good? Plus, they have parking next to the building and cheap, as in, free~! read more

I had total knee replacement at this hospital on Jul10, 2019. From the minute I walked in the door to the day I was discharged, i have never experienced such kind, competent, caring people. The nurses, therapists, etc. were always friendly and right on top of my medications and anything else I might need. Loved this place, and when I have my other knee operated on, I know where to go for the finest care in the area. read more

My wife had neck surgery at this hospital in February 2016 and everything at the hospital went great. Good care, friendly people, etc. The problem is that the hospital uses lots out-of-network services you would not think of, and this will leave you with a huge bill even after insurance. In our case we, so far, have around $15,000 in out of network bills after already meeting a deductible of $6,500 - so $21,000 and counting. Things like internists, leg compression machines, and nerve testing are all billed by a third party so not covered by insurance. Obviously this has added lots of stress to an already stressful situation- and now we get to deal with insurance appeals and mediation to address the situation. So,if your insurance plan does not cover out of network expenses - I would be very careful when planning your surgery. read more

I had L5-L3 fusion surgery with Dr Valente. I have had in years past many surgeries at many hospital, this being probably the most serious being it's the spine surgery I have had. I have to say this hospital is one of the if not the most satisfying I have ever encountered. Professional, courteous, kind and funny., well spoken, and looking and feeling so pleasant. Everyone from parking you car to the surgical room made me feel very well assured I had the best. I was in this hospital for four days during recovery until I could go home, and both my wife and I actually had a nice time, I wanted to leave but yet I didn't because the care was so good. After getting home I actually received a thank you and get well card signed by many of the employees I dealt with in there. I thought "they didn't have to take the time to do that" but they did. I highly recommend Dr Valente and all that Methodist in Addison has to offer. read more

The hospital team worked together and went above and beyond. Some of the memorable faces were Hin, Lovey, Joseph, Sherry, Princess and Kent. Total rockstar team. EDIT: I am now getting called EVERYDAY. I now realize I shouldn't have told the young female I keep speaking with not to call me as this seemed to escalate the calls I receive from weekly to now daily. And I am now blocking your number to prevent further harassment until my insurance company finishes processing. The service was great. Upon saying that I must notate the multiple times weekly the collections department called me for payment. Now I know, Come on this is normal... but after many MANY times asking for them to notate my insurance is still processing and to stop calling me asking for payment they still call. I even asked my insurance what I could do and they said to call them and let them know from me personally they are still processing and need another 30 days for processing... I had hoped this would resolve my frustration of the multiple weekly calls but no.... the collections person responded "ok,well just know we will still call you weekly" ..... so if ever go to this hospital, just note, they will call you multiple times a week for you to pay even though your insurance has stepped in. During covid they don't give any excuses as to why insurance is processing slower, so I am not interested in returning during normal circumstances (without COVID-19) if that was their response in working with me. read more

They were very responsive to my initial concerns about a late start an initial lack of communication, but my overall experience was great, especially my interaction with the technician. My wife checked out yesterday after spine surgery. If one has to have surgery and hospitalization is a must, there is no finer place to go than this facility. We did a great deal of research before deciding that Dr. Carmody was the best choice, following surgery, we are unwavering in this decision. Wow. Can I really say a hospital is great? Yes! The level of care is amazing. I had a very positive experience with their surgical team, nurses, nurses aids, techs, billing, and more. The facilities are well-maintained and everyone appears to love their job. However, I did have a nurse tell me she would withhold pain meds and insert a catheter while being awake if I didn't urinate. Talk about a lot of pressure! the nurses aid assuaged my fears and anxiety. She told me the nurse couldn't withhold meds for failure to urinate. However, the catheter would NOT be fun. I had a 360 spinal fusion, spent a day or two in ICU for pain control before being moved to a typical patient room. Overall, it really was a great experience considering the circumstances of my spinal injuries. read more

I've never once written a review for anything in my life, however I downloaded this app for the sole reason to give a shout out to the people that work at this facility. I had a spinal fusion surgery two weeks ago and despite the reason that I was there, everything was perfection. I don't remember the names of all of the staff members that helped me, however I wanted to give a personal shout out to Christian, E.J., Eddy, Kent and the rest of the staff because they were on point. They checked on me around the clock, provided me with pillows of all sizes to keep me comfortable and even did small things like refill my water cup. Christian even went above and beyond to go to a different floor and find my girlfriend a cot and plethora blankets for her and my mother since they were staying overnight. On top of all of that I received a follow up call the next day and a personal HAND WRITTEN letter a week after from the staff giving me their best wishes as well as thanking me for using the facility. Best experience and best customer service I've ever had in my life. And on a side note the food was excellent and brought food for all of my guests. Fantastic service. read more

I had back surgery August 2013. My doctor was great but this hospital has problems. I was charged for services that I did not receive. For example, I was supposed to receive physical therapy. The physical therapy I received consisted of the physical therapist introducing herself, and that was it. I never saw the physical therapist again. What really concerns me is that I was charged for physical therapy and never received physical therapy. The other issues were charging me for blood work that was not done and charging me an extra hour for Surgery. If choose to use this hospital for your surgery be aware that they are dishonest and do not have integrity. You will be billed for services that were not provided. my wife had surgery and got a staph infection from contaminated equipment and i have called 3 times and left messages and not one person has return my call. it is ridiculous when we paid them all there money and now my wife is out of work and we had to cancel our cruise because of her situation. it would be nice to know that someone cares enough to call you back. now we find out today after 7 weeks of pain and agony the staph has turned to mursa why should we be treated so bad. read more
