I haven't seen Dr waddell in over a year after a hip replacement. I've had issue and I'm not happy with the WB Carrol clinic. If I were you you can do a lot better period. I have visited 3 doctors at this clinic and their PT department, so I feel like I am familiar with their practice. I have been to both locations but have spent more time at the Frisco location. Most of the doctors I have seen have been alright. Dr. Klein has been the best. I have made appointments with Dr. Clavenna, but have never actually seen him - only his PA and Dr. Cutler. My issues with the clinic are more to do with wait times, horrible front and billing staff and ridiculous appointment check-in procedures. Today, I checked in online and to complete the process, I had to go through a series of advertisements. The kind of ads you get after you order something online. Unbelievable! The feeling I get is that this clinic isn't about the patient but their bottom line and it's reflected in the attitudes of the staff and the staff way you are treated there. I contemplated a state complaint. Not only did the doctor not order the right test to determine the issue with my ankle, he didn't offer any follow-up other than wearing a boot and PT. He suggested fibromyalgia, which was blowing me off, because he clearly didn't look at my chart. Because of the lack of scanning, the PT caused a tendon tear. I may have to have surgery. Office staff were rude and not easy to work with. They wanted us to drop everything the day of the appointment for information or were going to reschedule, when the appointment had been in place for months and we both work. They were hostile. If you aren't a pro athlete, they don't care. read more

Dr. Klein was wonderful. My dad had a failed shoulder replacement that was causing him intense pain. He is 85 so any surgery is a huge concern due to medical issues. Dr. Klein was very strategic in his strategy to provide the best results with the least amount of impact. My dad woke up feeling so much better than he had going in. The effects were immediate! He of course had pain associated with the surgery but already felt so much better than before. I was amazed. He's now a month and a half out from surgery and is doing really well. He just got out of his sling and is working on his range of motion. Overall, we are so pleased. And the facility is so nice! You can get X-rays, ct and all the things right there. The appointments might take awhile, but they are worth it. read more

it pains me to give this review. The surgeons at Carrell Clinic are first class and their service to their patients is commendable. However, like many medical practices, their lousy staff, and over expansion has caused the practice to become an excuse generator and not a problem solving experience. The staff - particularly pre-admission- is incompetent. All of them need to be retrained or fired. To quote my father, "they couldn't find their way out of a telephone booth. if I kicked in the door and handed the a flashlight and a map." I had a painful problem with my foot. Made an appointment to see Dr. Vinyard (he is first class and has done much excellent work for me.) At that appointment we agreed on surgery to correct the proble. This where it all goes of the rails. I saw his coordinator for a surgery dates. She'd had a last minute cancellation for 9/15 or I could wait until the end of October. I agreed to that date. She acknowledged this was short notice for their pre-admission testing group but she would follow up up with them. So I went to my pre-admission office on 9/10. Nothing special. EKG, blood tests, urinalysis. When all their tests were completed I was called into the back to discuss the results. Nothing unusual. I remember specifically when that ended the nurse said "I was good to go" for surgery today, 9/15. Then today, 9/15, while I was walking out the door and this Patty person calling me to say my surgery was canceled because I hadn't completed my pre-admission release from my pulmonologist and vascular surgeon. Up' to this point no one at the Carrell Clinic had even mentioned to me these were needed. As a result, my surgery was cancelled. I had to get separate appointments for the pulmonologist and vascular surgeon before I could make a new appointment for the surgery on my foot/toe. Now I have to wait until after my visits with the pulmonologist and the vascular surgeon before they will allow me to schedule a surgery date. These people on the staff live for the "not my fault" excuse. No one voluntarily offers to solve the problem. Then, they cover each other's mistakes by bouncing you around to other staff by phone extensions no one ever answers. Don't go to this clinic if you expect people to tell the trut.h. read more

"When you're a hammer, everything looks like a nail." That's true of doctors too. I wrote 4 years ago about Dan Cooper basically traumatizing my wife by accosting her about her choice of doctor; she had been to 3 orthopedic surgeons who couldn't find anything wrong with her knee, until finally a plastic surgeon looked at it and found a mass of scar tissue he removed (in a surgery he did alongside an orthopedic surgeon) which fixed the problem. My update here is basically just that the issue was resolved by having someone look at the patient and talk with her about her pain instead of just looking at a surgical report and speaking condescendingly like Dan Cooper does. The sad thing about this is that my wife now refuses to ever see any orthopedist. She is worried that they will respond the same way Dr. Cooper did, criticizing her for having a plastic surgeon work near her knee, acting like THAT was what needed to be fixed, etc. She was in pain for something else just now for months and all she can say is "no, they are just going to yell at me like Dr. Cooper did." I'm glad he at least helps some people, but I would never recommend him to anyone who cares for bedside manner or expects empathy when they are feeling with something debilitating because we definitely did not experience that from Dan. read more

Over the course of a year I went through multiple doctors who wouldn't help me until I met Dr. Vineyard at the Carroll Clinic. He listened to everything I told him about my injured ankle, examined the ankle fully, ordered X-rays and a CT. The ultimate decision was made to reconstruct my left ankle. Dr. Fully explained the procedure, answered my questions and reassured my many fears. Unfortunately my ankle did not heal enough in 6 months post- surgery and another different type of reconstruction was recommended by Dr. Vineyard. again, he answered my questions honestly and was hopeful the second surgery would be successful. Though I still have a non-union fracture, I do feel like Dr. Vineyard is vested in my case and will help us figure this out as a team. I appreciate his honesty and forthright answers when discussing my treatment plan. Would absolutely recommend - am sorry I wasted a year before going to the Carrell Clinic. read more

Now, 3 months after surgery, I can say with confidence, that as far as I am concerned Dr. Robinson is a Top Gun in his field! Not every tough man or woman can take the kind of responsibility for other persons well-being and do the job so complex flawlessly every day like Dr, Robinson! Have been a longtime patient of the Carrell Clinic, having had both shoulder surgery and foot surgery, as well as a plethora of other appointments and procedures, going back to 2008 (best estimate). Today I was "assisted" by a woman named Hilda while checking in to see Dr. Vineyard, whom I love and who was one of my surgeons. Not only was Hilda curt and extremely rude to me, she seemed to be upset with another employee who had been helping to answer some insurance questions I had, for not checking me in herself. The interaction was very awkward. Hilda had been having a conversation with another woman and it was obvious she did not want to be interrupted. I felt truly terrible her coworker, Barbara--who was extremely helpful and friendly!... to the point that I hadn't even asked her for her help, but she overheard me in distress talking with the insurance company. Had my hip replaced by Dr. Kitzinger in 2018. The experience was much better than expected and their doctor-owned hospital is top notch! Followup appointments were easy breezy and my recovery went well without any issues. Dr. Kitzinger's assistant was very helpful and professional. Lower back fusion. 10 out of 10. Saw Dr Robinson about fixing my lower back after another Dr screwed me up beyond tolerable pain. Dr. Robinson was a God send to have found before I gave up. He went in and totally redid my lower spine. I might have experienced a week of minor pain due to the cutting on my ribeye. When it healed up, the pain was completely gone and after about 3 years has not come back. You will never find a more caring and skilled surgeon on the planet. The Hubby had his surgery on the 16th of December & let's just say he's not a young chicken, but we feel he's doing better than some 30 year olds. My fourth major surgery, both full knees replaced, one reverse total shoulder replacement and a surgery to repair a botched Lis franc repair done elsewhere, at Carrell Clinic Dallas. From support staff to the nursing staff, the doctors and anesthesiologists are all dialed in and provide an excellent surgical and recovery experience from check in to overnight stay in the hospital. Personal experiences with Dr. Carr Vineyard (foot), Dr. Paul Peters (2 knees) and Dr. Todd Moen (shoulder) have been carbon copies of one another in the level of expertise, care and outcomes. Cannot recommend this Dr. owned facility (bonus IMO), the Drs. I have mentioned and the dedicated staff enough. Will never go to any other facility for my orthopedic concerns. read more

Over the past decade I have seen a few different doctors (different specialties) operate on me. I have had Dr Cooper fix my knee and my shoulder. Both I had other doctors try, but fail. Dr Klein fixed my elbow which was injured 15 years ago in a car accident. The care from both doctors, and their bedside manner is excellent. Never once had I felt like it was a "churn and burn" to fit as many patients in as possible. I never saw a PA instead of the doctor. My viewpoint was always "I don't care if I like you as long as you can fix me" but both of them are likable AND awesome doctors - unicorns in my experience. read more

Drs. I saw care for their patients but are clearly overloaded. Administration and support staff are disorganized and non-communicative in providing follow up (scheduling, providing test results, questions regarding PT and medication etc). . Orthopedic treatment is top ranked, but a surgeon/ doctor can only be as good as the staff around him/her allows- and they are simply too overrun with patients. You will be just a number, will have to wait an hour in clinic to be seen, and if they decide you are too much hassle ( do anything to operate as a patient would like ask questions or call the office for information) they simply cancel your appointment without rescheduling. This happened to me and I asked if I could still be seen, waited over a week for a response while having no indication from Hotchkiss' team that anything was wrong, then they discharged me without an explanation. I have a letter from the clinic that states I cannot follow up at this clinic with any provider. (The letter does not cite any medical or non-medical explanation like "too difficult to schedule/coordinate with" or "unable to provide effective medical treatment") l. This was after I waited 7 weeks to be seen in substantial pain for my neck. Dr. Khair is an excellent provider and person, as is his sports physician, but every other person in that ortho facility is unprofessional, rude, overworked, and disrespectful in some form. read more

Let me start by saying my husband has had 7 surgeries with Dr. Clavena and one with Dr. Peters and nothing but rave reviews for them and the Carrol Clinic for those surgeries. However, last week he had a shoulder replacement with Dr. Moen and it has been a lacking experience. My husband repeatedly told the nurses that he was allergic to latex, however, someone used latex on him and he has developed a terrible rash with large red welts on his shoulder and arm. He went to his PA on Tuesday when it really started bothering him and the PA was going to send him home after telling him he should have taken benadryl. Fortunately he insisted on getting some steroids (should have received a shot) but the steroids have not helped and he is still miserable. In addition, the nursing staff for his overnight stay were so unorganized, unprofessional (with the exception of Deb). Katherine, the night RN asked ME when my husband had his surgery. Shouldn't she know that? And when we asked the other nurse a question her pat answer was "I don't know, I usually work in the ER". They never did get his ice machine hooked up, and we asked several time for them to please do. Apparently the didn't know how, or didn't want to bother with it. We also never received any follow up calls from the surgery center, nursing staff or Dr. Moens office. In the past we have gotten follow up calls from all of the above. We have never had these experiences with the Carroll Clinic which leads me to the conclusion that these are Dr. Moens people and there is no organization, follow up or even a caring attitude. If you see Dr. Clavena or Dr. Peters you will have a great experience at the Carroll Clinic. read more

I give 2 stars just because Dr. Worrel has been great but the staff is far from. I continue to get emails that I have messages in my portal. I have no access to my portal and have now called twice for resolution with zero response from Ruby. I was also told the scheduling department would call to schedule my surgery, still zero call. Apparently, either everyone is far too busy to complete their jobs well or they are terrible at doing their jobs. Either way I will now being getting a second opinion and looking for a different Dr to do my surgery since I don't have any faith in the staff at this clinic. I have been a patient of Carrell Clinic since 1993. Generally, these are great doctors, but are very expensive and all could benefit from some additional training on their bedside manner. For the past 4 years, Dr William Hotchkiss has been treating my lower back, where I have arthritic degeneration at L-1 through L-5. Dr. Hotchkiss has tried a number of procedures/treatments, none of which provided material relief. He has always overpromised and underdelivered. Equally important, he has always been arrogant, abrasive and condescending. Even if he were the greatest doctor on the planet, which he is clearly not, he is just not worth the trouble. With regard to serious matters of your health, he is just not trustworthy. read more

I went in for complaints of knee pain years after an old injury. I really liked Dr. Klein and felt like he really paid attention to his patients, but he was at least an hour late every time I saw him. He sent me to PT there and that's where I was most disappointed. The physical therapist stopped even paying me any attention and had two and sometimes three patients at a time. I stopped going after she'd send me into the other room to do exercises but wouldn't monitor my form at all. On top of that there were some billing issues. I received terrible customer service from everyone in the PT office and on the billing staff. Just go for PT anywhere else besides here. And maybe go somewhere else all together. read more

What a high class organization. I have Multiple Sclerosis and was partially paralyzed on my right side in 2004. While on vacation with my wife , we were walking and my legs wouldn't hold me up and I collapsed. The day before Thanksgiving , I got a MRI on my spine and I had back surgery between Christmas and New years to correct sever stenosis in several locations on my spine. Every step of the process was top notch. The entire team is kind, compassionate, courteous and competent. Dr. Clavenna is the best. Over seven hours in surgery and up and walking that night. My drop foot of 20 years was gone immediately. After 2 weeks, I feel 100% better, and both legs are approaching full strength. read more

I had a surgery with Dr Hotchkiss. His surgery resulted in a false joint and I had to have it removed by another surgeon and replaced. I also want to let you know that I requested a follow up on a previous neck surgery when I had numbness and pain going down both arms, Dr Hotchkiss responded that he had had a recent surgery that did not turn out well so was unwilling to do the surgery. I had both the neck surgery and the replacement surgery done by another orthopedic surgeon. Both surgeries were successful and I felt much better. I would not use Dr Hotchkiss ever in the future. read more
