I liked that most of them came out of UT Southwestern with very impressive resumes. I went to a different doctor first who does not perform knee replacements, but highly recommended Dr. Champine. I had a short informative meeting with Dr. Champine where he laid out a very disciplined process that gave me great confidence that he was the guy to do my knee replacement. I'm still early in the process, one week out from surgery yesterday. I went out with the family and had a steak to celebrate last night using a cane. I'm off pain meds, doing well in rehab and everything is going better than I thought it would. I will drive myself to rehab today and walk it off along the Trinity River after. The physical therapists at rehab came over to see and compliment my nicely zippered incision asking who did it. They nodded when I answered Michael Champine one saying he does beautiful work. Thanks to Dr Champine and his great team I will be spending thanksgiving dinner with my family in Austin 2 weeks after surgery instead of perhaps home in bed.

My husband recently had shoulder surgery by Dr. Moen. We keep it in the family bc we love it here and can't say enough great things about the doctors! However, today I was "assisted" by a woman named Hilda while checking in to see Dr. Vineyard, whom I love and who was one of my surgeons. Not only was Hilda curt and extremely rude to me, she seemed to be upset with another employee who had been helping to answer some insurance questions I had, for not checking me in herself. The interaction was very awkward. Hilda had been having a conversation with another woman and it was obvious she did not want to be interrupted. I felt terribly sorry for the woman she was rude to Barbara (who was extremely helpful and friendly!).

I get X-Rays still nobody comes to say hey we waiting or the dr is coming, so I waited another 29 minutes and walked out. All the nurses and doctors were laughing and talking in the hallway as I walked out. I was catfished at my appointment when the doctor who walked in looked (decades) older than the doctor pictured on the website. I came for an acute problem and I felt like the doctor didn't listen to me. He "educated" me by pointing at pictures in a laminated book. He must really like to educate because he went through the book with me on each of my visits. He kept recommending NSAIDs without seeming to want to get to the root of my problem. He was over 30 minutes late to my appointment (I've waited longer for other providers), but it was the way in which he handled the appointment that rubbed me the wrong way; he made my time feel rushed and blamed his need to rush on the fact that his front desk doesn't like when he runs behind. He seemed flustered moving between exam rooms to see patients, saying that he'd be back to answer questions, but never returning to the exam room. There was also a billing issue that took several months to resolve. This issue would not have occurred if they verified my insurance, like I advised. The billing issue was resolved after diligent follow up, otherwise I'm not sure if I would have been refunded. Needless to say, the time spent at his office was a complete waste and my issue was not addressed to my satisfaction. I have since gone elsewhere for a second opinion and am doing so much better and way more satisfied with the level of care and attentiveness.

Dr Howard got angry and told me the surgery was 10 minutes, like I could go under general anesthesia and still make my appointment with back doctor. After surgery on left elbow, arm looked very weird. The entire cup of elbow was so badly Burned, it was weeping a had blisters. There was a normal incision area, then the voodoo marks. When I came back to have that elbow checked NO One could answer my questions about the burn and voodoo figure. No explanation. I asked if someone spilt coffee on me. Everyone tight lipped including Dr. The surgery had failed and in worse pain than before. I have included photos, very strange. Since then Dr Chris has not only successfully treated that injury but also accurately identified and surgically rectified an ongoing pain source stemming from an ER surgery on my other leg fourteen years earlier. Dr Chris and his practice have performed at a very high level from the outset until now and I couldn't be happier with the results. Having spent far too much of my time in Orthopedic Surgeons' waiting rooms since 2010 I greatly appreciate the timeliness and professionalism that Dr Chris, his practice and Texas Orthopedic Associates consistently demonstrated throughout my time under his care. Consistent excellence in diagnostics, surgery, PT programs and follow-ups with no glitches, no delays and essentially no mistakes. I highly recommend Dr Sakowski, the TOA group and Presbyterian hospital in Plano. They're the best and my experiences elsewhere pale in comparison.
