This place is DANGEROUS and "Dr." McCaskill should not be practicing medicine. He caused what was…read moreprobably a minor problem to result in surgery and nearly a year-long recovery, with permanent negative results. I twisted a finger and it broke on a Friday evening, so I went to an urgent care facility. They took x-rays, confirmed the break and told me I needed to see a specialist ASAP. They recommended Glen Lakes. So Monday I went to see Dr. McCaskill. After waiting for about 2 hours, he spent less than 5 minutes with me. He looked at the x-ray, told me the break was pretty clean and should heal nicely, and to just keep the bandage the urgent care place had given me for 2 weeks, then we'd check again. HE NEVER LOOKED AT MY FINGER. I had never had a broken bone before so I didn't know he couldn't tell from the x-ray, but the finger was still twisted and the bone needed to be set. About a week later, I realized that the bone was not straightening as it healed and I made another appointment. At the second appointment, "Dr." McCaskill actually apologized for not noticing that the bone was twisted. I showed him that when I bent the finger, it now BENT TO THE SIDE, OVERLAPPING ANOTHER FINGER. At that point, he told me it was "JUST A COSMETIC PROBLEM" and there was nothing to be done about it, my finger would always be twisted. So I made an appointment with another doctor, who was absolutely SHOCKED by the level of care I had so far received. He said that if "Dr." McCaskill had bothered to look at my actual finger and set the bone, it probably would have healed straight. But now I was going to have to HAVE MY FINGER REBROKEN and a screw inserted. With insurance, the surgery and months of physical therapy cost me well over $2000. The pain was pretty severe, since the finger was immobilized for weeks longer than would have been necessary had McCaskill done his job right in the first place. I had to wear a custom-made plastic brace with rubber bands attached to my fingernail to force the finger to bend. And I type for a living, so for weeks I was only able to type with one hand. To this day, that finger won't straighten out completely and it is bigger than the one on the other hand. But at least it doesn't bend to the side. To sum up: 1. McCaskill DID NOT look at the broken finger. 2. When faced with his huge mistake, he tried to cover it up by telling me it was a COSMETIC PROBLEM and there was nothing more to be done. He would rather make me live with a twisted finger forever than admit his incompetence!!! 3. A competent doctor fixed the problem McCaskill caused. 4. McCaskill is still practicing and inflicting his laziness and incompetence on others.

Getting frustrated as my pain was dramatically increasing, I decided to call BCBS and found out that Dr. Z's staff did not give BCBS what they had requested, but rather gave them partial information. I should have been doing the exercises at home as soon as I got home. My rehab has been tough, but it was my fault, not Dr. Tejan's. the scar on my knee is shorter than most of the others I have seen. He has some new office staff, so be patient.

I have been seeing Dr. Furman for almost 18 years. He is an amazing and caring doctor. He takes the…read moretime to listen to you, really listen. He keeps up to date on new treatments and the like. Having learned to be my own advocate for health care, I am extremely particular about who I trust to take care of me. In my experience, if Dr. Furman doesn't specialize in what he feels may be ailing you, he will refer you to a specialist that may be able instead of giving you a bogus answer or blowing you off. Also, his practice offers an after hours/weekend clinic that staffed on a rotation basis but he is there at least one night a week. It comes in handy for urgent care needs. ***No matter where I move in the metroplex, I will always make my way to see Dr. Furman if the need arises.
