Although it has been 17 years since I last saw Dr. Tobleman, I will remember his kindness until the…read moreday I die. After having been to another neurologist who scared the bejeezus out of me by flat out telling me I had Multiple Sclerosis without the benefit of any testing whatsoever, I was desperate to find a neurologist and obtain help for myself. I had already been to the E.R. at a local hospital and was told I needed to see a neurologist immediately. The neurologist I was referred to had a 6 wk wait. In the meantime, I saw the scary neurologist who was of no help whatsoever. On a desperation call, I called Dr. Tobleman's office. I was sobbing pretty hard on the phone as I didn't seem to be making any headway with obtaining medical assistance. The kind person who answered the phone at Dr. Tobleman's office asked if I could please hold. When she returned to the phone she said Dr, Tobleman could work me in between appointments that very day. My husband drove me to Dr. Tobleman's office as I was in no condition to drive myself. When I first met Dr. Tobleman he said " please come in and sit down, take your shoes off, sit a spell". Okay, he didn't say the last bit but he did ask me to remove my shoes so he could test the reflexes in the soles of my feet. Dr. Tobleman proceeded to patiently listen to me and ease my fears as I was crying. Dr. Tobleman told me before we freaked out, let's do some testing and see what we are dealing with? Over a period of about 6 wks I had an MRI, a spinal tap and heavy metal testing. All of which were clear. Dr. Tobleman did prescribe one and only one medication for me and that was for my severe headaches. Dr. Tobleman told me he found nothing wrong with me and that he felt with time my symptoms would disappear. At the time I was working a very toxic job. Amazingly, after I was fired from my toxic job, my symptoms went away never to reappear. They don't make doctors like Dr. Tobleman anymore. The point of this long winded review is that this man has a caring and kind demeanor but he also goes the distance in investigating one's illness. If one is ill, it only crushes one's soul further to be not taken seriously by the medical community. This is just not the case with Dr. Tobleman. I would give this man 100 stars if possible.

Peter B. Derman, MD - Headed to the Bahamas on a cruise 48 hours after back surgery with Dr. Derman!

I cannot recommend Dr. Peter Derman highly enough. I am a 67-year-old competitive gymnast, and a…read morehigh-bar training injury left me with a massive 25mm herniated disc fragment between my L4-L5 vertebrae. The injury caused agonizing, 9-out-of-10 sciatica pain radiating down my right hip and shin. For weeks, I couldn't walk without crutches and woke up every single night in absolute torment. My primary care physician assured me that Dr. Derman was "the best in the business," and he was absolutely right. From our very first consultation, Dr. Derman was incredibly nice, patient, and thorough. As a fellow gymnast in his younger years, he truly understood my background and my goal to safely get back to the sport. I trusted his judgment completely. To get me back on my feet as quickly and safely as possible, Dr. Derman performed an ultra-minimally invasive endoscopic microdiscectomy. Because this advanced technique uses a tiny camera and specialized instruments, it minimizes disruption to the surrounding back muscles, drastically cutting down traditional recovery time. The outpatient surgery on April 28th was seamless. Amazingly, just hours after the surgery I walked out of the clinic, and the excruciating nerve pain in my hip and shin was completely gone. At my 6 week follow-up appointment, Dr. Derman gave me the green light to slowly and safely begin working out again. Dr. Derman is a world-class surgeon with exceptional bedside manner who utilizes the absolute latest, most advanced surgical techniques. If you want a doctor who truly understands athletes and high-level recovery, do yourself a favor and schedule a consultation with him. Thank you, Dr. Derman!

If you've ever hesitated to visit a spine doc for fear of being rushed into unnecessary surgery,…read morethis review is for you :) I came to Dr. Derman after two of the worst months of my life. Severe sciatica and relentless low back pain made me nearly immobile. I often collapsed between my bed or couch, just standing long enough to cook breakfast felt impossible, and none of my usual remedies (PT, chiro, acupuncture, massage, cupping, etc.) helped. The hopelessness pushed me to a very dark place. After hitting a breaking point with a couple visits to the ER offering no relief, I finally took a friend's advice and saw Dr. Derman. I arrived desperate for any solution to end my suffering - cutting my leg off, ripping my spine out, burning every nerve in my lower body, all of the above...or actual surgery lol. Dr. Derman patiently reviewed my imaging, explained his findings, answered my questions, and identified a herniated L5-S1 disc with uniquely shaped extruded material hammering a nerve center - a perfect storm for maximum suffering. The relief of finally understanding the problem was immense. Although he explained that surgery was a real option if I wanted it, he encouraged me to try one last non-surgical approach: an injection and targeted PT. He told me, "the best surgery is no surgery at all," and reassured me my quality of life mattered so there wasn't a need to compromise if I didn't get back to where I needed to be. Reluctantly, I agreed. It's been 2.5 months and, with continued non-invasive treatment, I'm still improving week by week. If I'd seen anyone else, I likely would've been rushed to surgery and charged an expedite fee. Dr. Derman took the time to evaluate, educate, and propose a thoughtful, conservative plan - something rare and invaluable. You only get one first back surgery, and thanks to Dr. Derman, I may have been able to delay it for good. Don't wait until you're at your wits end. Go see him, knowing that relief is out there for you.
