Cute little coffee shop with muffins and small snacks. Can't wait till they fully open in June.

The shoppe is located within JFK airport in the Delta Terminal B. The customer Service was…read morefriendly. I made the lady say that everything was calories free & low in fat. She did try to upsell due to the fact that I was drooling and already indecisive over what I saw. I choose the raspberry cheesecake muffin and the mini cheesecake mud pie. The muffin was really good. I was a bit disappointed that the Cheesecake was only on that little portion of the muffin top instead of also within the muffin, it was chocolate oh & moist. The muffin was huge and cost $3.95. The mini cheesecake cost $4.95. It was rich in chocolate. Now this was perfection; it hit the spot. If ever I come through this terminal again, I'd definitely come back. I just wouldn't get the cheesecake muffin.

Ah...duped again: cupcakes that are all pomp and circumstance, but no substance. Despite all the…read moreeffort and love that went into getting them across the coast.... Methinks not,,,the rip off of $5, despite all the pretty pretty box, bag, piping, etc Quality of the cupcake batter is very pedestrian. As someone else pointed out, no flavor to the frostings either. i actually took a fork and scraped over 80% of it off....not a good overall texture or flavor. On the tongue, was even a bit gummy! Who likes that!? Cake batter: not moist enough, and def not big enough for the price tag. RV was an off putting "non fresh" dyed color. No thank you. This 8 month old cupcake spot at the JFK just doesn't have the wow factor for me.

The location is fantastic, a 5 minute walk the beach. The inside is nice and has ample seating with Wi-Fi and outlets. The bad--each time I have gone, there's always something going on with the staff. There is one regular worker in particular who I've witnessed: - Turn away customers who want a smoothie or juice because "the blender is already cleaned", a full hour or two before closing - Complain loudly about people coming from the beach and bringing sand inside (as my group is walking in from the beach) - Go on a prejudiced rant about LGBT+ people, loud enough for the entire cafe to hear - Go around and tell customers that the cafe is closing soon, an hour before closing. One time she mentioned it several times to me until I felt pressured to leave at 2:30pm, and she closed the cafe as I left (they are supposed to be open until 3pm) I'll continue going to Rockaway Roasters anytime I'm at the beach and craving their nitro cold brew, but probably only to-go. And not too close to closing time.

I love this spot…read more The breakfast burritos are so good - worth every penny - they even wrote my name on hot sauce with it. The ambiance is nice and spacious. You can breathe while you have your coffee. The staff is very helpful, and yet super efficient. This is in a great location right off the boardwalk. I'll be back soon.

I guess you could say we did the full Locals experience: a surf lesson at Locals Surf School…read morefollowed by a meal at Locals Collective, which shares ownership with, and is only a block away from, the surf school location at Beach 69th. Locals Collective is such a sweet l'il cafe. The vibe is relaxed and lovely, with friendly, helpful staff (especially the woman wearing the ramen cat shirt, whose name I didn't get, unfortunately). The menu is small, but includes some healthy options like the breakfast sammy (with two eggs, avocado, sprouts, tomato, Monterey Jack cheese, and spicy aioli on whole grain toast), acai bowls, wraps, overnight oats and that sort of thing. The breakfast sandwich wasn't very big -- or rather it was a normal size, well filled, but made with commercially standard-size sliced bread, not a hero, sub, or roll -- and was perhaps a touch spendy at $12. The Progeny inhaled the sandwich after snarfing down a sushi roll we'd brought -- and still wanted two large protein bars, after. (I guess surfing cultivates a good appetite.) He said he enjoyed it, though. My iced coffee was a touch weak, but serviceable. There's pleasant seating indoors and out, with a few folks working on laptops. There are quite a few dining options on this particular block, including burritos, pizza, ice cream, and a few full-service restaurants -- but in terms of aesthetics and overall look-feel, Locals Collective takes the win. Surf boards (I think soft tops only) are available for rent at Locals Collective, for $35 / 2 hours. Prices are a bit higher than at Breakwater Surf, which rents for a jaw droppingly low price of $5 an hour -- but Locals does offer additional amenities like changing rooms and a shower, which I'm prima-donna enough to think is worth it. You can also rent a wet suit, which you'll probably want if the air temp is anything cooler than 75F. Waves at Beach 68 are fairly small, but reportedly consistent. We'll be back for more, I'm sure.
